@wiiware If you have a spare pre-patch system you can hack it with a paperclip or with a custom made 5$ wedge you order online.

That is what I did, now I have a spare Switch for emulation.

@solcross I've been selling my original complete in box Mega Man Battle Network games.

I still have my holy grail copy of Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar in complete mint quality.

I have been selling a lot of my GBA stuff because FPGA and emulation do it better.

@MeloMan Mega Man X Corrupted (fan game 10 years in the making) is Mega Man X9 and it's better than anything capcom is doing with Mega Man.

@BigChia They shouldn't require anything to buy them. They should create a ton of stock for all of their controllers and be happy people want to buy them for other purposes as well. Money is money and they are losing a ton by making them scarce. A simple solution would be to only make a limited amount available online but have the rest go to physical stores like Gamestop. Walmart, Target etc.

@Axecon It would be nice if Nintendo would drop the price on some of their games. Players choice needs to come back.

A Shovel Knight 3D platformer would be acceptable.

@Patendo I still find a lot of companies over charge for Indy titles as well. On the other side of that pretty much all the major stores take 30% and most companies don't want to lose that 30%. If the stores weren't as greedy as they are you would see games being cheaper from Indies. I'm lucky because the game that I'm making with my 2 friends we're doing most of the work ourselves so a lot of the pie stays with us minus the 30% and possibly publishing fees as well depending if it's easier to go with a publisher. We figured $19.99 is more than enough.

I am most definitely going to get this but I absolutely hope that they eventually do a shovel knight 2 in the vein of the 1st game.

@Ooccoo_Jr I'm doing like a 32 bit metroidvania hopefully people like it. In my game you play as a Knight and a Demon and you switch between. I don't want to give too much away until I'm ready to show it.

@Corvus96 First off Nintendo lied about every generation and their lifespan and has been doing so since the NES.

Secondly if it is backwards compatible it is a non-issue for that vast majority of people as they will stick with the older model until they have to upgrade.

It is pretty obvious it's releasing alongside of the Zelda sequel.

Contra 4 was the best hands down.

@steventonysmith Fair enough. I for one am selling most of my old gaming stuff because I have a MiSTer FPGA now. Most of my CIB GBA games have been going for 150CAD on average, some closer to 400CAD.

I like that once emulation is viable past a systems lifespan I can move to other solutions such as hacking and roms and I can fuel other endeavors with my past collections.

If the Switch 2 comes out and is fully BC and your purchases move forward that would give me more faith in all digital, but it is unacceptable to me if they try to pull a Wii U again and abandon all their previous software and purchases.

@Olmectron That could still hold true, we could be witnessing it manifesting physically in Hyrule, like they are crashing into one another.

@steventonysmith Hopefully this one they do, I am only buying physical now so I can re-sell games since we don't know for sure to hedge my bets.

@steventonysmith Nintendo themselves already confirmed early on in the Switch's life that if a successor came out during the lifespan there would be cross generational games and all 1st party games would be cross gen.

Based on the furthest out release date. There is still a good chance the next gen Switch comes out after the New Year closer to May.

This game is in the Link to the Past timeline. We are witnessing the birth of lorule.

@johnvboy It is still a big possibility in 2023. We will have to wait, and beyond pokemon and zelda I do not want to invest more on the Switch until I know Switch 2 is backwards compatible.

@johnvboy I still think this generation is only going to be 6 years, while Nintendo is never the top of the hardware battle it still needs to be able to play modern games. Less and leas games will come out for it as we move away from PS4 and Xbox One.

May seems like a good time to release a new console especially if it is 100% backwards compatible then no one will bat an eye.

Also it releasing in May does bring us to the 6 year age mark for the Switch, I would not be surprised if a next gen Switch releases either before or alongside it. Of course being Nintendo they will milk the holiday season for their current hardware.

Well I am now almost positive this is the the same timeline of A Link to the Past and we are witnessing the separation of Hyrule from Lorule.

@Darknilious Hopefully they take a note from Sony and Microsoft and let your stuff carry forward next generation. If not it just gives me another reason to hack the next system too.

Nintendo needs to get it together because RDNA 3 is about to come out at 4nm and it is going to put the Switch to shame.

I'm telling people now the announcement of the next Gen. Nintendo system is coming they've been working on something with nvidia for like 4 years and it wasn't any of the current models on the market.

The 1st and 2nd games were a huge success, I am making a note here that the 3rd game will also be a huge success.

The only place they need to go is space, Imagine portals in space.

I love that nobody's complaining that there isn't split screen. It's such a huge miss of an opportunity to not be able to play salmon run with a friend locally or team up to go online like in Mario Kart 8D.

Oh wait I forgot nintendo is greedy and doesn't like people having fun with one copy of a game.

@HandheldHaunter It is just nintendo's way of guaranteeing people have to buy another copy of the game to play multiplayer with people. In my opinion games where companies force you to buy multiple copies juat to play multiplayer you should get it cheaper if you're buying multiple at the same time. I would have no problem getting 2 copies for like a $100.

The fact that it doesn't have local multiplayer just like the 2nd game makes it a pass for me.

@MrBelmont Yes, if they cared about their art and the communities it creates they would have especially 20+ years it is of no use to them. How we deal with digital rights is a joke and needs to be revisited.

@MrBelmont Because if you pay for a piece of software you're entitled to the full breadth of content regardless of it requires a server or not aside from reasonable DLC. People will figure it out anyway.Just like you can play the original fantasy star online on dreamcast people will find a way to hack the servers, it is just that we shouldn't have to.

@EarthboundBenjy There's challenges and different things that cycle so you will be missing out on content 100%.

When companies do stuff like this they by law should be required to make the server tech available to anybody who wants to run it.

Corporations and companies have more rights than individual humans which is unacceptable in my opinion.

@Gitface There have been/are legitimate portable ways to play.

No we most certainly will not. I will download them on my hacked Switch system yes, but I already own all these games.
