Publishers rarely need an excuse for a sale nowadays. Bandai Namco's latest slate went live in North America several days ago and, not to be outdone, Arc System Works is up next.
Going as high as 87%, expect to mostly find fighting games, anime adaptations and beat 'em ups in this one.
The full list of discounted games is available here, and these are our top recommendations.
- Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz – $4.80 (was $39.99)
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – $5.00 (was $19.99)
- Damascus Gear Operation Osaka – $2.40 (was $19.99)
- Double Dragon & Kunio-kun: Retro Brawler Bundle – $20.00 (was $39.99)
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R – $9.80 (was $14.99)
- Kill la Kill: IF – $10.00 (was $19.99)
- River City Ransom – $3.50 (was $4.99)
- World End Syndrome – $16.00 (was $39.99)
If none of those grab your interest, it's a good time to remind you that Ubisoft and Warner Bros' Valentine's Day sales are still up for a few more days. Capcom is also running a much smaller "Lunar Sale" until the 18th too, including games like Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

I haven't played Guilty Gear since the PS2 days, but I really credit that game for molding me into being better at fighting games in general.
I might use this as an excuse to dip my toes back in, and just relentlessly annoy all my friends with Faust
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle: It only exists to tide me over until an actual new Persona Arena game
@Desrever I highly recommend GG Xrd REV 2
Legit one of the best fighting games of the decade and one of my favorite "anime" fighters in recent memory
I love beat em ups but im still stuck in the Street fighter era. Dunno if id have the patience to try and learn a whole new game. Been tempted by so many over the past year or so but never pulled the trigger.
Can anyone reccomend a good, easy to pick up and play beat em up?
Sorry for my ignorance, but that are these about? Is it based off an anime or something? I don’t watch anime so I have literally no idea. (Besides One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, and Power Rangers... wait)
Is River City Ransom the NES version? Arcade?
The only reason I was attracted to Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle was because of RWBY representation in it. And Teddie, too.
@WickedUnicarnBoi BlazBlue and Guilty Gear are long running fighting game series that are considered Arc System Works' flagship franchises, with Cross Tag Battle in particular being a crossover game where BlazBlue and its characters are integrated into a roster with characters from other anime and video game franchises, specifically Under Night in Birth, which is a fighting game with visual novel elements, RWBY, which is a web series from Rooster Teeth that's anime inspired, and the Persona series, due to Arc System Works' prior experience developing the Persona 4 Arena games for Atlus
The only one here that's actually licensed from a specific anime to my knowledge is Kill la Kill If, which is obviously based on Kill la Kill, a fairly recent action-adventure anime from Studio Trigger
@Sinton it’s the NES version with bug fixes. It is also included in the double dragon Kunai collection which is definitely worth the 20 bucks
The Kill la Kill game is mindblowing in its presentation.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle is much less complex than mainline Blazblue or Guilty Gear games. As long as you can do quarter-circle punch, you'll be fine. Only $5 right now too.
@Dirty0814 Thanks - and agree, that seems like a good collection. If a similar offer appears on the European eShop, I’ll pick it up.
@judaspete "As long as you can do quarter-circle punch, you'll be fine. Only $5 right now too"
Thanks for the recommendation man. I was brought up on quater circles 😜.
Will see how much it is on the UK store.
Edit: £17.99 on the UK store 😭
Shouldn’t people be getting the BB Cross Tag Battle deluxe edition for USD $25 (originally $50) since the $5 sale version doesn’t have all the characters?
@TheFrenchiestFry I was hoping I’d see you in the comments for this! I’m just about to beat persona 4 and blazblue caught my interest. Any good? Don’t think I have access to the arena games unfortunately so this looked like a decent substitute
@Zoda_Fett I wouldn't say BlazBlue is actually as essential in terms of expanding on the characters as P4A and P4AU are, but the campaign they do give the P4 cast in Cross Tag is a healthy bit of fanservice for those who have played the game and want to get more out of the characters albeit in a more probably non-canonical setting
I'm still disappointed that Kill la Kill: IF was 30FPS. Yep as a fighting game it was meh but still a big fan but the performance for me was a downer.
I'm all in for Guilty Gear though. Cross Tag was just a DLC fighting game mess and I hope they make a proper Blazblue again eventually.
At 10 bucks, Kill la Kill is definitely worth picking up, especially if you're a fan of the anime! The game itself isn't anything to write home about, but it's absolutely beautiful to behold and still a blast to play.
I still need to get the dlc for blazblue.
@Terra This article is very misleading, those prices only apply to the United States store.
You want the special edition of blazblue it has all the DLC included for $25 and the DLC is substantial more than doubles the Rosters and adds a ton of quality of life upgrades and balance changes.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Skullgirls (Switch) has an insanely good tutorial mode that will teach you about fighting games in general (as in, skills you can use in other games), especially if you're like me and grew up thinking fighting games were "button mashers" where you just spam special moves and win (which couldn't be further from the truth).
Only thing is...Skullgirls has a very tainted past now, on the developer's side, but it's kinda one of those situations where one man's actions destroyed the entire studio.
Otherwise, Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd, Dead or Alive 6, and Killer Instinct all have great tutorial modes too that will make you see fighting games in a new way (they're all I play now, lol). However, all of those games are unfortunately only on other platforms. As a consolation, Mortal Kombat 11 (Switch) has a decent tutorial mode too (but nowhere as deep), and is a great game to boot.
Dont really want any of these titles. The playerbase for fighting games on Switch are so minimal. Also doesnt help that the only arc sys made or published titles on here I like are GGACR (Which has nobody playing because the better version is on PC) and UNICLR (Which is dead as well on Switch, not on sale). Kill la Kill is just a shallow Naruto arena fighter so im good.
I want the Kunio collection on cartridge, but if it drops to $10 I’d get it digitally. Still waiting for one or the other.
