Best announcement of the show for me. Can't wait
This was a pleasant surprise for me
Will be getting for sure but I hope for a physical release of course
Wonder if this will have the MegaMan games? Power Fighter/Battles, and Battle & Chase have previously been released.
I would LOVE an arcade version of Final Fight. I think I see Mike Hagar in the cartoon picture, so it looks like we're in luck.
Did they do a full game list yet? I’d love to get super puzzle fighter 2 turbo if it’s on it. And depending on how much single game purchases are
These sorta arcade collections never include games past the SNES era, I’d love Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, Cannon Spike, the Marvel vs Capcom games, Darkstalkers etc.
Strider yes Strider yes Strider yes!
I like the CI of the thing. I know nobody cares and "don't judge a book by its cover" etc.
But it just looks inviting and like it's own thing.
Super excited for the release of Progear!. I am unaware if this game was ever released before on any console... The side-scrolling CAVE shmup collection can now be completed. Hm... I do not own a Switch yet.
@nessisonett
I count at least four games in the trailer (1944, 19XX, Cyberbots, and Progear) from being post-1994.
While there's no way to be 100% certain, I think Darkstalkers has a high chance of being part of the initial lineup (assuming there'll be further packs down the line) and maybe one version of SF III.
If this gets future expansions, I could see them doing Marvel and Psikyo themed packs. SF III would be a definite if they do add ons.
Happy for the games. But wish they were coming individually part of hamster arcade archives
@Toy_Link It’s strange for Progear to be there considering it was only published by Capcom in one territory and was developed by CAVE.
So is this going to be Capcom Arcade Cabinet from the PS3 all over again?
I was wondering if I should have bothered to unlock all the games from that (if it is even still available).
Maybe not, I assume this is going to be much of the same lineup.
I play Strider a lot on the Sega Genesis Mini. Takes time getting use to but l like it. Can’t wait to play the original arcade version of it again.
I’ll probably avoid the games that are on the Capcom Beat em Bundle though. Since I still play that quite often.
Hope darkstalkers/vampire is in this...
I feel like we are at the point that sfiv should be in a collection.
I have some of their other collections so I am more interested in the a la carte offerings.
Edit: looking at the list I am less interested. Will get a few games but this is not what I was hoping for.
I’m sure they can easily do another pack of ten later. I’m interested in Cyberbots, so I’ll be downloading whichever pack that is in.
Day 1 and I hope they include Aliens vs. Predator someday! I prefer buying games than having them stuck behind a streaming service subscription.
Already a great list, rivaling that of the Astro City Mini.
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!
@Juga Thanks, I've added this in.
Myself and others on this website have been dreaming about Capcom putting their arcade games on Switch. This...this is making me cry. It's just fab
Capcom released something similar years ago on iOS where you could buy the games separately.
I believe it was using the ports made for the PSP classics collections. It will be interesting to see if this is those versions again which I’m pretty certain weren’t emulated or if they’re just ROMs this time.
Yes! Carrier Air Wing finally leaves the arcade!!!!
Pack 1 looks like a must buy for me. Then pack 2 if the first is any good. If we didn't have the street fighter and beat 'em up bundles, then pack 2 would have been elevated to must buy also.
Some great games, I've basically got this on my PS2 with a few extras but I suspect the vast majority of Switch owners aren't in that position. I would definitely recommend it with the games on offer
Have we seen it all before aside from a couple of games, yep. Is it still awesome, yep. Are people going to continually cry about missing titles especiually AVP...YEP! I cannot wait for this.
I guess at some point all these games will be collected in a physical release, obviously too late, when everybody interested in them will have already bought them digitally. This time, though, considering I already own most of them in Xbox 360's Capcom Arcade Cabinet or other collections, I will be getting very few of them, and that's why for once I would have preferred they released them individually, not in 10-game packs.
Check my post history, I confirmed this several times months ago
Progear and Gigawing on Switch!
Take my money!
When will Capcom release Red Earth on a console? WHEEEEEN!!!???
Nice but where's AVP Capcom? I ain't buying that stupid expensive arcade logo stick for the game.
I said ages ago it would be nice if Capcom released some of their old shooters like Carrier Airwing, Varth and Forgotten Worlds on the Switch, looks like I'll be getting those to add to my retro shooter collection, and on top of that to get arcade Strider, Ghouls n Ghosts and Mercs to add too - I'm going to have a proper little arcade going on. Looking forward to this!
Finally Forgotten Worlds with nice duel analog controls. The God of War boss fight still blows me away even now. You see the worshipers and his feet and he’s 3 screens high.
Looks great and features much of what I had hoped to see from Capcom Arcade Cabinet 2, but where's Mercs?
I'm not too upset that stuff like Gun Smoke is AWOL, since I of course own the excellent Capcom Arcade Cabinet release (Which thanks to Microsoft's backwards compatibility initiative, is fully compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X families despite originating on the Xbox 360). But hopefully this succeeds and gets some additional DLC packs to pad out the lineup even more.
Hopefully 1943 Kai is also here.
The trailer shows a generic "1943" name, so I suppose it's conceivable it's relegated to a menu setting within the Battle of Midway like if it were a mere regional variant (The Kai edition is a heavily revised update to the original rather than a full fledged sequel).
Probably reaching for straws, but it would be a bit of a shame to see what's otherwise a complete representation of the arcade history of the 194X franchise miss the mark by a single title. But at the same time it looks as if they've planned this with an eye towards a follow-up someday, so maybe they've held it back for a potential sequel.
Ooh a free 1943 is a nice move. I know some of the others f course but I wonder if there will be a review and how that will work?
Cool, roms. 😄 These games are all CPS-1 and basically a repackaged Capcom Classics Collection from PS2 ported to Switch. The laziness and milking of old franchises is vintage Capcom.
And no, stop asking for AvP or any comic books properties. Capcom isnt going to pay anyone else a penny to license something good.
@Slowdive I doubt there will be a physical release for this.
@Atariboy Mercs is there, just under its Japanese name.
I am actually looking forward to this one.
I suppose this is good news if you've only owned Nintendo consoles, but for me, I already own the majority of these on either the Capcom Classics Collections, Capcom Arcade Cabinet, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, and the Super Retrocade. There are a few exclusives here but much of it is double dips, just like Namco has a habit of doing.
@sc100 you can already play that with the Capcom Beat 'em up Collection (eshop) or Japanese physical release (English in full) as Capcom Belt Action Collection.
Just saying NO NEED TO WAIT 😁
@sc100 Have you checked out the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle? It has the arcade versions of Final Fight, Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round and Warriors of Fate, Armored Warriors and Battle Circuit. Would definitely love to see Alien vs. Predator and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs in the future.
I’ve played a number of these on the two Classics compilations that were released for the PSP. As I no longer own them, I’m quite interested in this and likely to buy ... sensible pricing permitting
And if you can play those originally with vertical aspect ratios in that manner, I’d definitely be more inclined!
Definitely getting Packs 2 & 3, loved the arcade games of the 90s and early 2000s.
Pack 1 depends on price, games of that era felt like they were testing the waters and getting their strides whilst the 90s where they really took off.
Most hyped by the shm’ups. So much quality stuff there! Hope they continue adding.
They are a few years too late for this, I got tired of waiting and got an rg350m.
I may still pick this up when it goes on sale.
Take my money. I’d be happy with just 1942 and Commando!
The 194X series, Forgotten Worlds, Giga Wing, and Progear have me super excited. Plus, from this features video it looks like on top of global leaderboards for every game there'll be a weekly challenge; hoping that those will give these arcade experiences some legs.
Capcom often makes terrible decisions, but have to give them props for these more niche old school releases right before their big Monster Hunter drops in March.

Solid games on here its like an expanded Capcom arcade collection from last generation. Carrier Air Wing, Varth, and 1944 are so good. I can't wait to get this. Now please release 1942 joint strike.
Still waiting for Capcom to release the Capcom Home Arcade console to the United States.
AW YEAH! FREE 1943!
I'm still drooling lol.
@Bass_X0 So that's what Senjou no Ookami II is. Thanks.
I was wondering what the heck that game was.
Too bad no Disney games
Oh hell yes. And 1943 for free? One of my fav games? Sign me up.
@sc100 They more or less already have Final Fight arcade in the Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle for Switch. This adds quite a few more games and then options like auto-rewind, and difficulty changes. The version in the current bundle has CRT and other filters, and is actually a pretty good port.
@LUIGITORNADO The Disney games while Capcom weren't "arcade" titles, just home releases. Several of those are already available in the Disney Afternoon Collection on PS4, XBOX ONE, and PC (but not Switch, even though it released a month and half after the Switch console).
@blackknight77 I actually bought the Arcade1Up Final Fight cabinet in part because of 1944, though I ended up selling it. Such great games and each will be represented (better) in this collection.
I'm sad somehow I'll be playing 1943 before aca raiden
Will we be getting Three wonders, mega twins, and Super Gem fighter for this collection? I will freak the heck out if they do! This is great!
Great news!! Super pumped to see Carrier Air Wing, Giga Wing & Progear in the mix. LOVE carrier air wing! On the downside, many titles missing from previous arcade collections. Still awesome though and I assume will see this on Xbox & Playstation! Meanwhile the Switch is such a retro arcade classic beast!! It’s awesome!
SEGA are you paying attention?? THIS is what you should be doing!!!
Looks good, but I wish they didn't add titles that were already in their beat em up bundle or the Street Fighter collection. If Capcom wants to impress me port Breath of Fire III and IV to the Switch. Would also like to see Saturday Night Slam Masters return.
I’d buy these on cartridge, already have the Belt Action and Street Fighter collections. But digital is of no interest to me beyond getting 1943 for free.
There is the Street Fight Anniversary Collection and that Capcom Beat 'Em Up collection as well. However you can choose which ones you want to download, so...
Carrier Air Wing’s inclusion surprised me as I expected them to need to pay licenses to Northrop Grumman and Boeing for the 3 jets. Maybe cos they’re older planes out of production or the old graphics mean they’re not realistic enough recreations to bother with?
I wonder what the chances of Area 88 / UN Squadron being added? (Arcade AND SNES port); although that has an additional IP license to deal with.
We already got something like this on the PS3/360, it was okay.
Come on Midway. Get your arcade treasures series on Switch!
Looks like a slightly remixed version of the "Capcom Classics Collection".
It now all comes down to price.
Don't overshoot it Capcom and you might have a sale here ^^
Great news. Looks like Capcom is finally on the right track. Appreciating its own past legacy.
Capcom Channel posted a vid that scrolls past the games so people can see a bit of the attract modes. The channel has more than just the announcement trailers. I'm still pretty hyped about this.
@Dakotastomp Mega Twins is there. Here's hoping that they'll add more DLC packs after the initial batch of 3
@FX102A Good point, they might pull a SEGA AGES OutRun and change the planes' graphics and names. From the Japanese version of the vid I posted, they look the same, so maybe not.
@Papichulo a few are CPS-2.
Looks like a must have for shmup fans with Giga Wing, Progear, all the 1940s and whatever.
Februar 2021 will be awesome with these, Cotton Reboot and Darius Cozmic Revelation.
I wonder how many times I have bought street fighter 2.
@elreins There was a Java phone version released sometime in the 2000s as part of the I believe now completely defunct Yahoo Mobile game service!
@Axlroselm They have been doing that since the 2000s!
I would love to see a Street Fighter 2 Anniversary Edition port but then again we already have Ultra Street Fighter 2 The Final Challengers on Switch so there is that!
@GamingDude800 thanks for the note!!!!
@HIGHscores85 eShop only. You need a MicroSD memory card to buy packs 1, 2, or 3... or the complete 30 games collection.
