Pre-orders for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin are now available for Nintendo Switch ahead of the game's launch next month.
You'll find the digital version waiting for you on the Switch eShop as we speak for $39.99 / £34.99, or you can opt to go with one of two physical releases. There's a standard edition, which is just the standalone game, or the 'Golden Harvest' edition which comes with an artbook, soundtrack, and a double-sided poster.
Links to all physical edition pre-orders can be found through the XSEED Games wesbite.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin launches on 10th November in North America and a little later on the 20th in Europe. Just in case you're only hearing about it now for the first time, we'll leave you with an official game description and feature list:
Developed by Edelweiss, the team behind acclaimed indie darling Astebreed, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin combines side-scrolling action with deep crafting and rice cultivation. Players take on the role of Sakuna, a spoiled harvest goddess banished to a dangerous island with a group of outcast humans. As she explores the beautiful yet forbidding environments of the island, she will also find a home in a mountain village, proving herself worthy of her title by harvesting rice and bettering the lives of humanity.
Features
- Refined Side-scrolling Platform Action‒ Using farm tools as weapons, chain together quick, heavy, and special attacks to take down demonic beasts, while mastering the magical “divine raiment” will be essential to grapple distant platforms, evade danger, and overcome powerful enemies.
- Detailed 3D Simulation-style Gameplay‒ Learn the ancient art of agriculture by following detailed steps from planting to harvesting to cultivate the perfect crop. As a harvest goddess, Sakuna’s strength grows with each successful rice crop, with attributes such as aesthetic and flavor directly correlating to her combat abilities.
- Creating a Home in the Wilderness‒ Sakuna’s mortal companions make weapons, armor, and meals for her using the materials and ingredients she gathers on her adventures, and completing quests for them will unlock even more options.
- A Fresh Take on Japanese Mythology‒ The heroine is part of a pantheon of gods and demons inspired by traditional Japanese mythology but featuring many unique twists. The story and world are filled with lovingly rendered details, some familiar and some completely original.

Other retailers have physical versions too, but this Golden Harvest edition looks nice!
I’m not pre-ordering yet though. It looks nice, but it gives me a bit of ‘Town’ vibes. I hope this game will have more enjoyable gameplay for me.
I preordered from Amazon as soon as I could- the first game I’ve ever preordered. A game that looks like a combo of Streets of Rage, Bayonetta, Suikoden and Stardew Valley? My sort of game.
Preordered a standard physical version the other day pretty cheap. The game looks great so hopefully it turns out as well as it looks. I'm getting an EU copy but I'm kinda glad that it comes out in NA ten days earlier as it means I'll still have time to cancel if it does happen to end up being unexpectedly disappointing.
@BenAV Where'd you pre-order from?
Looks really nice but those mini art books are generally not worth it. The only decent one I've seen was the Link's Awakening one. I'd probably buy a full regular art book for this though, it looks amazing!
@gcunit I live in Australia so I ordered from Ozgameshop which probably isn't much help to you, haha. Might cancel and get an Aus copy instead if Amazon Australia ends up stocking it for the same price but they can be pretty unreliable so I have no clue if they'll even get it.
Have this on my wishlist.
Preordered the CE months ago. Looking forward to this one with barely contained anticipation!
@BenAV 🤠 Sorry, I should have checked your profile. I do have a few Australian region games, but only via eBay/UK retailers. Back in the day it was somehow significantly cheaper for me to buy an Aussie copy of Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and price rules for me, so I did - rippa!
Will wait for the reviews first...
Oh my, this looks fantastic! I absolutely love the aesthetic of Japanese mythology, It's always been so interesting to learn about!
@Ryu_Niiyama So did I, which is why I was a bit surprised to see a headline saying that pre-orders were now live.
I’ve got it preordered, but could Just not pick it up if reviews are bad or if Walmart discounts it. But it looks cool, and the price is good.
I have had my eye on this for ages. If it isn't a disaster, immediate buy.
@JimmySpades I just figured that perhaps preorders just went live for Europe.
@Ryu_Niiyama Same. Got CEs for both Switch and PS4. Ready to play!
@ShikabaneHime13 all the gameplay I’ve seen looks great!
Love physical! But I Hate the hideous PEGI rating square..!
I’m alone, I know; I’ll see myself out..
