Ever since it launched in Japan back in February - and most likely before then, too - fans of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers have been hoping to see the game release in the west. Thankfully, a new financial report from Koei Tecmo appears to give a fresh burst of hope for a localised port.
The company has released its FY2019 report, and while it's currently only available in Japanese, Twitter user @bk2128 has offered up a summary of translations. Koei Tecmo saw stronger year-on-year results with overseas sales rising nicely and, as you can see, localisations for both Persona 5 Scramble and Nioh 2 DLC are 'still being planned'.
It's worth noting that Atlus USA, which would publish the title in North America should such a port become a reality, has still yet to mention any western release. Last month, however, a survey from the publisher asked Persona fans if they'd like to see Persona 5 Scramble be localised.
Do you think it's only a matter of time before we hear of an official announcement for this one? Would you like to see Persona 5 Scramble make it over to the west? Tell us below.

Persona 5 Royal, or gtfo.
Yes please come to the west 😩
Plug it into my veins! Can never have too much Persona 5.
I hope it comes to the west. at first when i got annouced i didn't like it because i thought it would be just another dynasty warrior clone but after i watched some gameplay i have to say this game looks really nice, just like the OG P5 (dungeons, tokyo etc) but with hack n slay combat insteat of turn based
I really enjoyed the demo! All of the Persona Spin-off games have been great so far, they don't come close to the main series, but are fun in their own way
I was expecting it to be localised - Warriors and Atlus cames usually are these days, but it's definitely a bigger risk for them so it's understandable. Hope to see it sometime in 2020.
"Still being planned" means No I guess?
@mesome713 Eh, if you played persona 5, scramble is the better game. Don't get me wrong, Royal is actually surprisingly better than the original, probably the most expansive out of the rereleases (though fes had a much better expansion than the third semester of Royal), BUT scramble is probably the most story heavy Warriors game there is. It's functionally a full sequel. Better a sequel than a port in my opinion.
Of course, I have a PS4. If I didn't well if kinda get wanting Royal on the switch. Then again, I bought a PS4 for the of persona 5, soooo whatever.
@Incarna I'm playing p5 royal right now. The changes seem small on paper, but the changes they implemented and the way they space out the changes makes it feel like a much better expansion than fes and especially golden. I'm not at the third semester and it definitely feels like a different game mechanically and the bosses and dungeons are changed enough where it feels new.
They also add just a lot of anime scenes from the show and new art and voiced things to basically everything, which was surprising. Literally all the portraits have been reworked, which is a little excessive, but cool. Every social link encounter has like a post-conversation conversation which gives you extra do you like me points that you need because they added more things you have to do to upgrade junk along with the two new confidants.
That said, the games much easier. Like way way easier because they give you baton pass from the jump and since guns reload every fight as long as there's no resistances you can burn down random fights just by pressing up.
The point is, it looks like it could be just dlc, but it's really in practice a huge expansion and so far much better. Definitely better than golden. I doubt the third semester is as good as the answer though.
It’s amazing how localisation is still being planned, is there any doubts there is a market for persona 5 whatever ?
C'mon Koei Tecmo, when will y'all start localization Samurai Warriors 4 DX? Being waiting ages for that one.
@Incarna thats a fair point. I played p5 like 3 years ago so ive forgotten most of the smaller story beats anyway. I'm on the 3rd level and I'm still like, "did that happen?" I never even noticed the music changes, I was hung up on how they changed baton pass. I love that so much. It's like in the original p3 going to fes when you couldn't control your party members. It wasn't impossible to play the other way, but the new way is just obviously how it should have been the whole time
Atlus should really be prioritising the localisation of Scramble, primarily because they should understand the demand for any Persona 5 related products, including spin-offs. I feel they missed a perfect marketing opportunity last year with Joker joining the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; if they acted faster, Atlus would’ve achieved incredible sales. I fully believe Dragon Quest XI S wouldn’t have been as successful without the addition of Hero in Smash and while Persona 5 will be successful on Switch no matter when it launches, such financial success last year may have been astronomical. But not only are we not getting P5 on Switch, but they haven’t even announced a western release for Scramble. I hope Catherine releasing this summer, marks Atlus starting to get the ball rolling with their Switch support, because it has been extremely minimal so far and they could achieve phenomenal success. They released so many fantastic games on 3DS and I hope they can carve out a similar legacy on Nintendo’s hybrid crowd pleaser
There's almost no chance this wouldn't be localized. Most Warriors games are localized. Ditto with Persona, which is a huge name in the JRPG world.
@Ralizah plus with Joker in smash, not localizing a game for him on switch is just saying “no, I don’t like money.”
Looking forward to Scramble, having at first dismissed it, but given the fact, that it's actually more likea sequel, I'm kinda hyped.
Nioh 2 was also dope as hell, looking forwad to the DLCs.
dont want to be a port beggar, but i want us to get at least the original persona 5 on switch,
This will bomb on the Switch if localized for the West
I’d assumed they’d have recorded the voice acting at the same time as Royal to make it easier logistically.
If that’s not the case then I hope it’s not too delayed by lockdown.
@Incarna I'm more excited that this focuses after the events of persona 5 so it's basically persona 5 2
yeah it's being planned for South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong for June but right now that's it I don't expect this game to cone out in English until next year so I wouldn't get my hopes up people
Still don’t know why they didn’t do it in the first place. You’d figured this would be a good money maker for America since it’s the closest thing to Persona 5 on Switch.
@VoodooTrumpet Quite the opposite actually. Maybe not best selling but certainly a profit in the making
So hoping it does! I love the look and style of Persona but I just don't like the combat cos i suck at turn based. If this came here I will buy day one!
Koei Tecmo is publishing? So Atlus really doesn't have to do much on their end to localize Scramble. I wish Atlus would give more info on SMTV and Re:Fantasy.
How is this not a done deal?! It should be releasing in the west like, next month.
At the moment i'm good. Playing Trials of Mana..... IN ENGLISH..... Trying to finish it before Xenoblade chronicles.... ALSO IN ENGLISH..... don't know what the problem is but.... pff...
I'd be pissed off if it doesn't. Persona 5 is my favorite game of all time and I just finished Royal, which somehow managed to take a masterpiece and make it even better. I was psyched for Scramble because it's a sequel and I was so happy to see everyone again.
(1 like = 1 Ryuji "For real?!")
If it does get localised then I hope it gets done properly with the English voices
@Kimyonaakuma no chance it comes out this year
@KBuckley27 We can hope! But Persona localisation is long process, realistically I'm expecting it to release this time next year (at the earliest).
@hakjie11 I'd be shocked if it doesn't. Persona is popular in the west, and Persona Q2 came over when the 3DS was dead and buried. The Switch is in it's prime and PS4 is still strong.
Laughs in Mother 3
this better be localized aaaa
I'm a broken record at this point, but where the hell is SMT5? It's been three years and we still have no idea what it will be like.
@Incarna Yeah, you can baton pass without any levels in social links from the start and they give strength ups and eventually hp and sp heal. Basically what it means is that random encounters that you can't just gun down immediately (which obviously stops working quick) can be cleared without the enemy ever getting a turn and the protag doesn't need every single element to make that happen. It just feels nice and makes the flow a lot faster
I don't see this not coming to the west. They see how the SMT & Persona fanbase has exploded since 5.
Well...it is good news, that they still planing localization. I hope they will add just eng subs, because I don't want to wait for english voices localization. I wonder will it help, if I gonna buy Nioh 2?
@RPGamer petition SEGA, not Atlus
I heard this is actually really good if you like dynasty warriors type games.
@Incarna I agree that Last Surprise is the superior battle theme, so it sucks being forced to choose between having advantage or getting the OG battle theme. But for Life Will Change, I’m pretty sure I remember having an instrumental version for the first few palaces, with the vocal track only being used in the second half of the game, so that might be it.
@Incarna what? The Life will Change theme never had vocals when stealing treasure after sending the calling card minus a few key late-game dungeons. This is unchanged between the main game. Also, Take Over isn’t the “default” music theme, it’s the ambush music theme. It was the same in P4G where it went from just Reach Out to the Truth to Make History when ambushing and Reach Out in all other situations. All the old P5 DLC is free, so if you’re bothered by the new ambush theme, you can easily change to another outfit and hear a new theme (or just.... stop ambushing).
People loved Last Surprise, but many complained that it didn’t feel like actual battle music like every theme in P3 and 4 did. It was just acid jazz, which is good but not only gets boring after a while, but isn’t the most heart-pumping battle theme option out there. Take Over is an actual battle theme, and if you don’t like it, that’s fine. But it is there as a solution to a problem that you don’t really NEED to utilize.
You’re only 30 hours in, you haven’t AT ALL experienced everything new about the game. And even then, there’s so much more that you’re clearly not utilizing properly if you’re already bored; have you even used your grappling hook or found any Will Seeds? Are you actually paying attention to the new boss fights, or are you playing on safe and never realized how different they actually are? Have you actually spent time with Kasumi or Maruki yet? They aren’t ground-breaking changes, but they do very VERY much so make the game feel fresh compared to vanilla.
The third semester of Royal DESTROYS The Answer in terms of both length and quality. And the music in it is fantastic, have had it on replay the entire time I’ve listened to music ever since I finished Royal about two weeks ago. An overwhelming majority of it is significantly better than what vanilla had to offer, but you wouldn’t know that since you only heard the new battle theme and Maruki’s theme and decided to judge the entire OST and quit 30 hours in.
You did not platinum vanilla P5 in 90 hours, you’re either lying or you skipped crucial cutscenes. I’m a Persona purist, but I was so latched to the story of 5 when I first played it that I genuinely rushed through parts and skipped days just to continue the story, and my playtime still ended up being 83 hours. After my second play through, my total playtime amongst both play throughs on the same save file totaled 191 hours. I only had 78% of the trophies at that time. You by no means completed the entire compendium, every request, every Confidant (and actually read them), fused Satanael, AND defeat the twins in 90 hours. That’s a blatant lie.
Play the game, you’ll love it if you actually like Persona 5.
Platinumed Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. Hope they localize Persona 5 Scramble cause I am definitely platinuming it on PS4.
