Waiting until I see more, hopefully they do some version of the Treehouse streams next month for some gameplay.
@Incarna Yep, or you can order it from base.com for £42.85. So many better choices in the UK than Amazon and Game.
I can’t wait this game, but I am worried about the quality based on the previous two titles. Plus in case it’ll be good I wanna go physical with this one! Love the cover!
Show me some more battles, then we can talk.
@ShaiHulud @Incarna Not quite as good, but The Game Collection for £44.95 as well. Still better than the usual suspects.
I still don't know if I want to pre-order this or not. I still need to play Colour Splash which I am having difficulties finding the motivation to do so.
Yeah, if you're looking to pre-order, 365games is also an excellent site for UK shoppers.

I'm not rushing to pre-order this though, I need to see more about the game, I'm not sold on it yet because this feels like they're holding back on information.
@ShaiHulud @Incarna
Thank you.
I fully recommend base.com. They have never let me down and are the cheapest I have seen at £42.85 with free delivery.
Got my pre-order in right away. Really pumped for this.
defo want to see more footage before buying.
DONE!, awesome. Thanks for the links! 👍
Make sure I get my physical copy. Paper Mario games are one of the few games I never sold back.
Not a chance until more questions are answered.
As people are sharing places to buy, I always go cdkeys for digital. But I don't think it's up there yet
I think I’ll wait on reviews this time rather than pre order. But then I often tell myself this!
I need to see more of the game before I even commit to buying it let alone pre-ordering it.
I’ll wait to learn more about combat thanks
I'll get it physical, no rush. Anyway, still need to see more of it. I hope it's closer to TTYD than TSS, but we don't know many details yet...
Already preordered on the eshop this past Friday
I want it but gonna hold out in case there are any pre order bonuses
I hate paying full price for all these games. I miss the Best Buy gamer's club... I'll wait and see if they do more of those NSO vouchers. But I also need to wait for more information and possibly reviews for this particular game. I'm hoping this will be more like the originals, but maybe with some fun improvements.
@MS7000 I've been playing through Color Splash and am really enjoying it. It's a beautiful game with fantastic dialog (as in I literally lol occasionally). The battles are certainly a downside and deserve the criticism they receive—for me, they're not bad, but they're definitely not good either.
I'll pre-order this on payday. Can't wait, looks like a proper successor to Thousand Year Door.
I bought those Nintendo Switch vouchers awhile back, so used it for this. Not a bad deal especially when include the £4.20 in gold points for future games.
@lemonjellydude I hate to say it, but I don't even think we are going to get stickers with this one (usually order from Smyths in the UK and they have sticker sheet). I think with pandemic best case is your physical copy is delivered on time. Mine digital copy already is download on my switch.
@g_ruz I feel like my problem is that it feels like I am replaying Sticker Star. I enjoyed it (Sticker Star) enough at the time, but eh. Regarding the dialogue; I have heard many people praise it as one of the good things regarding the game, but I am getting nothing from it so far. Hopefully it will improve as I go on. For context, I have only got one of the big paint stars so far.
Pre-ordered this from UK amazon as soon as it was announced, it was there. Also they take off VAT for me as I'm in Guernsey (£41.66) so its my go to place
Turn based or action combat? Graphics are neat but this series has gone up and down. Hoping Rawk Hawk makes an appearance.
@Incarna
Something really good about pre-ordering multiple items at once through 365games, is that you can pay £5 for a DPD pre-12 delivery option across multiple items, even across separate launch dates. It's an excellent delivery service for games you simply must play on launch day, or for peace of mind delivery.
I've never played a Paper Mario before. So I'll wait for user reviews from those with a bit more experience before making the leap. I've certainly felt inclined to branch out and explore more of Nintendo's other second or third tier IPs. So if this is good, I'd love to give it a spin
My download shall be ready. Love me some Paper Mario, can't wait to play.
Oh no, you don't get me like that.
I was hoping for some nice extras from the official store so I’ve not pre ordered yet. Whether it’s freebies or something cool to pay a bit extra for. 🤞
@g_ruz that’s how I feel about colour splash. Beautiful funny but a bit rubbish battle system
I never saw much point to pre-ordering Nintendo's games. I've never walking into a store, ask for a first party release and been told they didn't have any. I'm sure it does happen, it's just never happened to me. The only publisher I do preorder from because of their cool limited launch editions and I never felt that they swindled me out of my money is Atlus. But Nintendo doesn't really give any incentive to preorder. Their special bundles with strategy guides tend to come out 6-12 months AFTER the game launches.
@TheFox I got the very last copy of Splatoon when it launched. Probably should've pre-ordered to be safe, but I wasn't fully committed to the purchase then.
I hope Nintendo offers a demo before release. That’s what sold me on Yoshi when I hadn’t enjoyed past Yoshi games. I tried Paper Mario on Wii but didn’t really care for it honestly. This new one sure looks neat but I would like to try it.
@TheFox I agree with you in that there’s little incentive to preorder Nintendo games. The games hang out at full price for a long while (generally). I haven’t had issues trying to find a physical game when I wanted it either. Nintendo used to offer bonus gold points on digital preorders but I haven’t seen that in the US eshop for a while now. Now I just wait to buy games until a review drops.
@NotoriousWhiz
Walmart has recently had $60 games for $50 at launch, $50 games for $42, and so on, and it's not a temporary discount.
That being said, I also miss Best Buy's Gamer Club.
Hopefully, they'll have NSO vouchers in the future. I don't know if Europe still has them, but I know they had them even after it was "discontinued" in NA.
Locked, loaded, and preordered
First gaming purchase of 2020!
I already preordered it... it now sits on my switch home screen, taunting me for the next two months while I’m forced to listen to the internet go to war with itself over whether it’s good or not, even though there is no genuinely viable way to tell.
It would have to be catastrophically awful for me to not enjoy it, and I can tell that’s unlikely to be the case. I wish I could just tune the internet out.
@FredsBodyDouble There's a video that shows a battle slightly more in depth than the trailer did. It's turn-based! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez5EZ1AIVWo
Without knowing what kind of gameplay it has? I think not!
RPG elements like the fun PM games? Count me in.
Easy pass otherwise.
I'm excited.
Check out GameXplain's full analysis on youtube.
It's looking like a true return to form for the series.
The only major problems I still see are that some of the party members look to be generic unnamed Bowser minions (which makes sense if they were part of Bowser's army, escaping the castle) and we still don't know if these partners join you in battle. (though we have seen the "explorer Toad" standing on the battle screen with Mario, but it could just be some kind of tutorial)
We also don't know much about the leveling-up/progression/rewards system but I doubt they'll drop the ball on that after getting so much else right, especially since this was the biggest core problem with the last two games, making battles completely pointless.
