Publisher PQube has hacked down the Switch eShop price of its visual novel Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa to just £0.79 / $0.99 / €0.99 to mark the anniversary of the game, which is the company's first internally-produced (rather than just published) venture. The price will hold for the next two weeks.
We didn't think a great deal to Kotodama when we reviewed it last year, but if you're a fan of visual novels and are looking for something to occupy your time during the current lockdown, then you've got very little to lose by giving it a try.
PQube has also taken this opportunity to tease a brand-new IP it is working on, which it states it will reveal 'soon'.

This was a nice surprise yesterday.
I was going to get this anyway. At this price bought digital over physical.
Thank you pqube.
I've had the physical copy of this since forever ago but haven't been able to find the time to try it yet. Last year a billion VNs started coming out in quick succession so it's hard to get through them all.
Played a couple VNs before, not overly my thing, but giving this a go.
Yeah, the plot ticks all the cliche boxes and the titillation is pure cringe, but it's well presented.
I'd say the 3/10 review was a tad harsh. I'd give it a 5 or 6 so far.
More than good enough for under a quid.
Looks completely bonkers.
Sold!
Kotodama, the worst Visual Novel money can buy on the Switch.
Not even worth for free, I got it at launch and sold it the next day before the game was worth nearly nothing because it is so terrible.
Honestly for €1 it is worth a punt at and if it is terrible as the NL review says then it was only a euro but if I end up liking it then I got a game I enjoyed for a euro.
The mother of anniversary discounts... curbstomps even Earthlock's 80%.😆 Been on my wishlist for a while as it is, so I certainly won't be missing this opportunity.
A whole lot of games have been hitting north of 75% lately, and I don't mean just the stuff this fandom deems fashionable to call "shovelware". Guess the evergrowing competition on the one hand and the evergrowing userbase (making it possible for impulse buyers armed with pocket change to sum up to some tangible profits) on the other are a potent combination.
@Rayquaza2510 if I had a dollar for every "x, the worst y money can buy on the Switch" I read online, my money could buy the entire first party catalogue on Switch by now - and a couple Koei Tecmo deluxe editions on top.
I’m wanting to explore VNs and I have lots of spare points.
The reviews make it a maybe though, it would still cost my time.
I could never work out how risqué this is. It had a provisional PEGI 16 (which is still visible in the review image), but it's actually a PEGI 12. Plus, the review had a lot of contradictions. I get the feeling they toned it down, but who knows?
@nhSnork I understand but I am not like other people, when I say it is bad then it is bad.
Otherwise I would have said "I dislike"

A review for those that don't believe me, this one goes deeper into why it is bad.
Bought it yesterday and it's really bad, but bad in a funny enough way to be worth a buck if you're into "so bad it's good".
I don't know. Dropping the price that much just seems to signal that you have no confidence in your product. It devalues the game in my eyes, and I usually end up ignoring games at that price anyway.
Anyway, I feel like playing this would really just make me miss the probably superior Huniepop.
After careful consideration I decided to go for Mana Spark + 3 free games instead.
Just a dollar, but I don’t know. The review kinda turned me away.
Well, well worth it for that price, got it at launch and it was fun. Ideal for a first VN if you've never played one which I think is what it aimed for (or a happy accident). Seasoned VN players may not find too much in it though.
Ignore NLs review on this, they have a hate boner for VNs and rarely if ever give fair reviews.
I got it for 79p and am enjoying it. Yeah, mild titillation is a part of it, but what's wrong with that? There's also an intriguing mystery story in the style that only the Japanese can do (similar atmosphere to Phoenix Wright, as a very rough comparison) and I'm pretty hooked on the puzzle element.
I played through the game. It's enjoyable.
That review is bull.
(Just google other reviews. This game was a 6-7 everywhere else..)
Picked up the physical copy of this some time ago. It’s well worth a shot, especially at that price! Not perfect, but certainly an intriguing game. Hope the new IP turns out well.
