Physical sales are down in Japan as more gamers there are switching to digital. There’s simply no monetary incentive to make the games on a full cart when the country won’t buy it anyway. That’s why regions outside of Japan have the games on cart

I already own the HD version which is sadly delisted, but will still play this on Switch 2 because it’s the version I grew up with.

It feels like a crutch for developers who can’t compress data to save their life. If CD PROJEKT Red can fit the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077 on a cart there’s no reason SE can’t with Bravely Default.

I feel like this is how consoles are going to be. We won’t have the initial wow factor like we used to, it’s only when we go back that we realise what a step up it is.

My guess is this is to allow for larger games from third parties that couldn’t fit on the cart. Some PS4 games did that, FF 7 remake comes to mind, so this isn’t new. If anything this is showing how serious Nintendo is at getting the third party support.

@Shade_Koopa yup. I understand why, nobody likes costs going up, but at the same time the costs of games is also increasing and not just for AAA games either.

@Shade_Koopa gaming prices have increased several times before and most of us shrugged and adapted to it. I’m not happy with the price increase but it was kind of inevitable since they’ve been talking about increasing the price of games for years but kept it at $60. They kicked the can down the road when they probably should’ve done this during the PS4 era.

Yikes. Well it’s an industry wide issue so this was bound to affect Nintendo eventually.

@Expa0 Tbf I think the reduced knock back was to facilitate the anti gravity mechanics. Since a big part of that is running into other racers to get a boost.

Sony owns third party studios already. I can’t imagine they would stop these studios working on other platforms if they wanted since it earns them money either way. Sony aren’t even buying Kadokawa for the game studios, they’re buying it for the anime.

@fenlix that’s just typical for media consumption. Something will come out with critical praise, is reassessed and called not as good as we thought, then reassessed again and we realise it’s still great despite the flaws.

Don’t know why the Switch Mario Sports games are only now considered a disappointment, they’ve always been seen as lacklustre in my experience.

I don’t even understand what this controversy is about. The changes they made were implying other games in the series years ago and nobody batted an eye, and the artwork isn’t even featured in the game since it’s all sprites. So what are people complaining about exactly?

@Gamepro500 and? Just because it’s a fantasy game doesn’t mean the outfits can’t make any sense at all. It’s a dumb argument that excuses a lot of bad character design choices. I don’t think DQ3 qualifies as bad character design just to be clear, just making a point.

@Gamepro500 you do realise that people wear clothes under armour right? The armour is for protection while the clothes prevent chafing.

Man these ratings boards are really starting to crack down. Makes me wonder why he even wants the lower age rating if it’s such a hassle.
