It’s always been a complete sham. More focused on advertising than actually celebrating the industry of games itself. I blame it all on Geoff Keighley, the man is everything wrong with the corporatisation of games media. If we want the Game Awards to be taken seriously, first thing first, Keighley has to go.
@Zeroo no it is a remake because it was remade from the ground up rather than updating existing code. Final Fantasy 7 remake is also a poor example to use because that changes so much it’s more of a reimagining on the original. A better example would be the Resident Evil 1 remake which kept the same game design but updated it with quality of life improvements.
@Zeroo it is a remake not a remaster. A remaster takes already existing code and simply adds more on top of that. A remake is made from the ground up with all new code. This is absolutely the latter.
@LadyCharlie it’s just a bit of a weird reason to me. I could understand if it was the weaker solo stuff or it just not being your cup of tea, but a voice? That’ a super minor thing in the grand scheme of things. Eh whatever.
Not a fan of the DLC choices. Zuko should have been base roster and Azula the DLC, that just makes more sense to me. Iroh should’ve been cut and Kitara put in instead, we don’t need 3 firebenders in one game. Also how can you have Rocksteady but not Bebop, come on now.
@RobynAlecksys it largely comes down to the management. Nobody denies that Ubisoft have made some truly great games, but the heads of the company are inept, greedy a-holes that push the company into increasingly anti-consumer practices. It also doesn’t help that their more recent efforts have been increasingly mid.
@Adol-Bannings you do know Ubisoft didn’t develop Stick of Truth right? They only published it, and they weren’t even the initial publisher, that was THQ. Ubisoft only got involved after THQ went under. Fractured But Whole was all Ubisoft and a lot of people consider it a step down from Stick of Truth.
I feel like people are being too hard on Arzest. Yes, Balan Wonderworld was a disaster, but it wasn’t entirely the teams fault. And given the early positive reception I think we should at least give them the benefit of the doubt.
@blindsquarel Ocarina of Time was a revolutionary experience of 3D game design when it first released. It’s why it was praised so heavily. The remake came out at a different time and thus didn’t get as high praise. I think Tears of The Kingdom is going to have a similar reception. Nothing can beat that initial wonder that Breath of the Wild offered.
This whole saga has been an utter clown show. All it’s done is make me lose trust in both companies. Screw this, I’m going full PC gaming with Nintendo on the side. Console gaming has lost all its lustre for me thanks to this.
@Wheatly to be honest, most gamers will probably like it, but I don’t think they’ll love it. I think the general consensus after the dust has settled is that the game is pretty mid. Good graphics and gameplay, but a mediocre story. Obviously there are those that love it, but I don’t know if it’s held up as the masterpiece the first game is held as.

@PtM well that explains why it is the way it is.

Re: Nintendo Aware Of Super Mario RPG "Paratroopa" Bug Preventing Progress
I haven’t run into this bug. So it probably isn’t too wide spread.

Re: Review: WarioWare: Move It! - A Fine Return For Wario's Wii-Era, Motion-Based Mayhem
@LadyCharlie really? That’s the reason you aren’t picking it up. That’s the pickiest reason for not buying a game I’ve ever heard.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder And Sonic Superstars Start Strong, But Neither Can Out-Swing Spidey
Unsurprising Spidey is doing well considering how much marketing the game has. Nobody markets their games as hard as Sony.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars
@RaphaBoss 7/10 is average?
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars
@BobaTheFett well that’s stupid. How the hell did it get like this.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars
So the game gets decent scores, most reviewers are calling it good, but the comments are saying it’s mediocre. I have no idea what you all are on.

@PersianZSR then why bother commenting on it
Re: Disney Boss Reportedly Being Urged To Acquire A Major Game Publisher
Can they even afford it? They’re already having issues with their acquisitions and having another is just going to make things worse.

@LastFootnote it’s Gamespot what did you expect .
Re: Netflix Expands Its Animation Line-Up With Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, More
@Veggies the old games may be clunky by today’s standards but at least they had a personality. The reboot is just generic.
Re: Netflix Expands Its Animation Line-Up With Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, More
Oh it’s reboot Tomb Raider. Into the trash it goes.
Re: Early Tech Analysis Suggests Paper Mario's Thousand-Year Door Remaster Might Run At 30FPS
This is a nothing issue. The game is a turn based RPG, you don’t need 60fps to enjoy those.

Should have been Donkey Kong 94

Man that reboot must have sucked balls
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sea Of Stars
How is it a “landmark” RPG exactly. Is it an RPG that truly pushes the genre forward, or did the writer just use that word because it sounded cool?
Re: Thank Goodness You're Here! Delights With British Humour And Surrealist Cartoon Vibes
As a northerner myself this intrigues me. Kind of reminds me of Untitled Goose Game.
Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Western one is better. The darker colours fit the atmosphere of the game better.

A lot of people buying The Last of Us Part 2 due to the tv series are about to be very disappointed.
