Re: Soapbox: This Year, The Game Awards Failed The Industry

Jireland92

It’s always been a complete sham. More focused on advertising than actually celebrating the industry of games itself. I blame it all on Geoff Keighley, the man is everything wrong with the corporatisation of games media. If we want the Game Awards to be taken seriously, first thing first, Keighley has to go.

Re: Review: Super Mario RPG - A Timeless Classic Returns In A Remake Done Right

@Zeroo no it is a remake because it was remade from the ground up rather than updating existing code. Final Fantasy 7 remake is also a poor example to use because that changes so much it’s more of a reimagining on the original. A better example would be the Resident Evil 1 remake which kept the same game design but updated it with quality of life improvements.

@RobynAlecksys it largely comes down to the management. Nobody denies that Ubisoft have made some truly great games, but the heads of the company are inept, greedy a-holes that push the company into increasingly anti-consumer practices. It also doesn’t help that their more recent efforts have been increasingly mid.

@Adol-Bannings you do know Ubisoft didn’t develop Stick of Truth right? They only published it, and they weren’t even the initial publisher, that was THQ. Ubisoft only got involved after THQ went under. Fractured But Whole was all Ubisoft and a lot of people consider it a step down from Stick of Truth.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

@blindsquarel Ocarina of Time was a revolutionary experience of 3D game design when it first released. It’s why it was praised so heavily. The remake came out at a different time and thus didn’t get as high praise. I think Tears of The Kingdom is going to have a similar reception. Nothing can beat that initial wonder that Breath of the Wild offered.

@Wheatly to be honest, most gamers will probably like it, but I don’t think they’ll love it. I think the general consensus after the dust has settled is that the game is pretty mid. Good graphics and gameplay, but a mediocre story. Obviously there are those that love it, but I don’t know if it’s held up as the masterpiece the first game is held as.
