Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

IOI

Game itself looks great, it’s more Mario Kart, but the Direct showed nothing new and more importantly NOTHING that somehow justifies being an $80/€90 game.

You can easily get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for half the price of World and it arguably has more content, the only thing missing is the free roam open world which is by far the most disappointing thing they showed about the game, I’m not thrilled at all about exploring and finding outfits and P-switches tbh.

Re: Here's Why Switch 2's Joy-Con And Pro Controller Don't Have Analogue Triggers

IOI

If you have played Returnal on PS5 you know the true potential of analogue triggers and how it can be used for different inputs, not many developers take advantage of them but when they do it absolutely makes a big difference.

I wonder how they’ll workaround GameCube games or ports from other consoles that do use or even need this feature.

Re: Nintendo: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Is A "Canonical Tale"

IOI

I’d watch the cutscenes on YouTube, I did play Age of Calamity and kinda hated it tbh, gameplay is sooo repetitive although it had cool cutscenes and somehow a better soundtrack that BOTW I just didn’t enjoy it.

I just hope that for the next big Zelda game the story takes central stage and actually be a story instead of “look at this memories of 1000000 years ago”.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

IOI

Tbh I don’t see much issue with the console price itself, some games are even performing better than a Series S which I really didn’t expect, if we factor in the bundle with MKW it’s “only” $30 more than expected ($399 + $70).

Issue comes when you look at games prices at $80/€90 and trying to justify it on replay value is just disingenuous, like, I’ve played Fortnite more than any Mario Kart and haven’t spent a cent on that game, and I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but the “replay value” at $80 it’s just a load of BS.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

IOI

Honestly I feel that the entire direct and console itself were overshadowed by prices and mostly Nintendo’s lack of communication in several things, like we don’t know yet how much the upgrades will cost, some journalists asked straightforward and they just said “we have nothing to say”, how can’t they know if those release in 2 months!?

It’s just baffling how they’re fumbling something that had everything to be a smooth transition, you just had to confuse and enrage gamers…

Re: Sale Predictions Remain Unchanged Despite Switch 2 Price Concerns

IOI

Early adopters will show up, we even did with the Wii U, but in the long term that software price should weigh heavily against the hardware, sorry to say it but if you’re not a big Nintendo fan who can’t wait to play their games (like us who are here) there’s a plethora of options in gaming nowadays, both consoles and handheld PCs, and pretty much every other option has much cheaper software or a subscription service to play modern games, none available here.

And while the console price is arguably fine with the bundle as it’s “only” $30 more than expected ($399 + $70), but again software sells hardware, and if that software is freaking $80/€90 for each game then it’s just unsustainable for a large portion of the market to even get the console.

I’m not saying we have another Wii U here, it’s clearly not, but with those game prices there’s also no way they’ll even get close to the success they had with Switch, which back in 2017 I predicted it to be the best selling console of all time (and we’re nearly there), I just don’t feel it this time.

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

IOI

@sporesmoldsfungus I disagree, you can make that case on insanely expensive games to produce like a GTA 6, and even then it’s iffy since they make more money on selling MTX, DLC and more.

But for a Mario Kart game to cost $80/€90?! It’s just pure greed that screams “we’re charging this much because we can”. And I bet they’ll eventually announce DLC for it, further monetizing it, don’t defend this BS.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

IOI

Console itself looks very capable, if it can run Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate and Borderlands 4 (both not on PS4) then third-party support will be very good , having both Mario Kart and DK almost back to back for launch is incredible and I’m sure there’s still plenty they haven’t announced, remasters are meh, but prices are unjustifiably egregious for everything, console, games and accessories.

Overall exactly what I expected with only the prices being what I didn’t like.
9/10

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie

IOI

@IceClimbersMain Sorry but no, I loved the game but just look at the move set, it doesn’t even come close to match Odyssey, and it’s over twice as long than Astro.

The closest comparison imo is to Super Mario 3D World which I’d actually put both on par and are similar in many ways, that’s why the director himself paid tribute to Mario games and Nintendo while receiving the GOTY at TGA.

Re: Nintendo's Surprise Switch 2 Trailer Is On Track To Surpass 20 Million Views

IOI

@sleepinglion What did you wanted then? A flying console? A portable PS5 Pro at $1000? A dual screen Switch?

I seriously don’t get what some people expected out of a console reveal, I don’t get this entitlement of “well, since it leaked I want to see the full showcase right now”, just wait a couple of months until the full showcase and afterwards you can tell if you’re being underwhelmed, 5 seconds of gameplay and the hardware overview which was clearly posted to avoid more leaks and speculation just isn’t enough to make a judgment.
