@datamonkey I don’t think it’s Nintendo servers, the Switch just has terrible internet connection even while wired, hopefully it got massively improved with the Switch 2.
All of them but particularly Zelda, the next one will be a radical departure from the previous 2 games and I wish that they use the power of the new console to have a realistic art style back in a Zelda game such as the Wii U demo back in 2012, it’s time since the last time was back with Twilight Princess almost 20 years ago!
@Galaxy2IsTheGOAT I very much doubt that, if the team that made Odyssey has been busy 7 years with a Donkey Kong game there’s a chance we’ll have to wait much longer for the next big 3D Mario.
Game itself looks great, it’s more Mario Kart, but the Direct showed nothing new and more importantly NOTHING that somehow justifies being an $80/€90 game.
You can easily get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for half the price of World and it arguably has more content, the only thing missing is the free roam open world which is by far the most disappointing thing they showed about the game, I’m not thrilled at all about exploring and finding outfits and P-switches tbh.
EA so far has been the least supportive publisher for Nintendo overall, they could port Mass Effect, Star Wars Jedi, Titanfall and so many other games for the Switch 2 but we’ll most likely get stuck with sports games.
If you have played Returnal on PS5 you know the true potential of analogue triggers and how it can be used for different inputs, not many developers take advantage of them but when they do it absolutely makes a big difference.
I wonder how they’ll workaround GameCube games or ports from other consoles that do use or even need this feature.
I’d watch the cutscenes on YouTube, I did play Age of Calamity and kinda hated it tbh, gameplay is sooo repetitive although it had cool cutscenes and somehow a better soundtrack that BOTW I just didn’t enjoy it.
I just hope that for the next big Zelda game the story takes central stage and actually be a story instead of “look at this memories of 1000000 years ago”.
Does anyone actually doubt paid DLC is going to happen?
There’ll be free updates for a long while but eventually they will either monetize it further with some paid expansion or release another brand new game, but no console generation has had 2 Mario Kart, Switch didn’t even got one tbf.
Tbh I don’t see much issue with the console price itself, some games are even performing better than a Series S which I really didn’t expect, if we factor in the bundle with MKW it’s “only” $30 more than expected ($399 + $70).
Issue comes when you look at games prices at $80/€90 and trying to justify it on replay value is just disingenuous, like, I’ve played Fortnite more than any Mario Kart and haven’t spent a cent on that game, and I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but the “replay value” at $80 it’s just a load of BS.
Honestly I feel that the entire direct and console itself were overshadowed by prices and mostly Nintendo’s lack of communication in several things, like we don’t know yet how much the upgrades will cost, some journalists asked straightforward and they just said “we have nothing to say”, how can’t they know if those release in 2 months!?
It’s just baffling how they’re fumbling something that had everything to be a smooth transition, you just had to confuse and enrage gamers…
I’d buy it day one but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen anymore, Nintendo seems to hate their Zelda remasters as they’d rather rent you the OG versions through NSO instead of selling a port of Wind Waker HD, or Ocarina of Time 3D for that matter.
Early adopters will show up, we even did with the Wii U, but in the long term that software price should weigh heavily against the hardware, sorry to say it but if you’re not a big Nintendo fan who can’t wait to play their games (like us who are here) there’s a plethora of options in gaming nowadays, both consoles and handheld PCs, and pretty much every other option has much cheaper software or a subscription service to play modern games, none available here.
And while the console price is arguably fine with the bundle as it’s “only” $30 more than expected ($399 + $70), but again software sells hardware, and if that software is freaking $80/€90 for each game then it’s just unsustainable for a large portion of the market to even get the console.
I’m not saying we have another Wii U here, it’s clearly not, but with those game prices there’s also no way they’ll even get close to the success they had with Switch, which back in 2017 I predicted it to be the best selling console of all time (and we’re nearly there), I just don’t feel it this time.
@sporesmoldsfungus I disagree, you can make that case on insanely expensive games to produce like a GTA 6, and even then it’s iffy since they make more money on selling MTX, DLC and more.
But for a Mario Kart game to cost $80/€90?! It’s just pure greed that screams “we’re charging this much because we can”. And I bet they’ll eventually announce DLC for it, further monetizing it, don’t defend this BS.
Good. Mario Kart at $80/€90 is unacceptable imo, doubt they will actually listen but it’s much better to stay loud and keep complaining than submitting.
Honestly the pricing strategy for this whole generation seems extremely aggressive, I understand the turmoil in the world but come on, it’s the same hardware than worldwide…
Console itself looks very capable, if it can run Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate and Borderlands 4 (both not on PS4) then third-party support will be very good , having both Mario Kart and DK almost back to back for launch is incredible and I’m sure there’s still plenty they haven’t announced, remasters are meh, but prices are unjustifiably egregious for everything, console, games and accessories.
Overall exactly what I expected with only the prices being what I didn’t like.

It really is mind blowing how Nintendo was the first out of any console maker to have an official tool to sharing digital games, positively impressed tbh.
To be fair it already exists, I’ll die on my hill saying that the emulation with NSO is much better than it ever was, the only thing that it’s missing is the option to own the games.
@HammerGalladeBro Honestly no one other than gaming “journalists” who took one day dip as a validation of their opinion that the Switch 2 is “disappointing”.
@IceClimbersMain Sorry but no, I loved the game but just look at the move set, it doesn’t even come close to match Odyssey, and it’s over twice as long than Astro.
The closest comparison imo is to Super Mario 3D World which I’d actually put both on par and are similar in many ways, that’s why the director himself paid tribute to Mario games and Nintendo while receiving the GOTY at TGA.
@sleepinglion What did you wanted then? A flying console? A portable PS5 Pro at $1000? A dual screen Switch?
I seriously don’t get what some people expected out of a console reveal, I don’t get this entitlement of “well, since it leaked I want to see the full showcase right now”, just wait a couple of months until the full showcase and afterwards you can tell if you’re being underwhelmed, 5 seconds of gameplay and the hardware overview which was clearly posted to avoid more leaks and speculation just isn’t enough to make a judgment.
I don’t like this recent trend, honestly it doesn’t cost Nintendo literally anything to credit the people that deserve it and they could clearly separate the remaster team from the OG while still crediting both.
Lmao Nintendo are the ultimate trolls, half the internet expecting the Switch 2 and they chose to relentlessly promote the arguably worst remaster they’ve released recently 🤣

Re: PSA: Redownloading Switch eShop Games Has Now Changed With Latest Update
@montrayjak Why would you hesitate to delete a software that can never be played again?
And no, it’s not getting removed, it’s forever tied to your account, any software you delete it you can redownload it from this page or the eShop.

@nocdaes Uhhh I’m very excited for both Death Stranding 2 and DK Bananza (both summer releases btw).
Re: Switch 2 Launch Day Delivery "Not Guaranteed" From Nintendo In The US
I’ve been in the launches for the 3DS, Wii U and Switch, and this is the most chaotic it has been to start a new generation from Nintendo.

Impossible, experts on YouTube said that this was only a portable PS4, so there’s got to be black magic involved or something… /s

My hype kinda dropped after this direct, don’t get me wrong the game looks great but the Direct showed nothing new and pricing remains unjustified.

Re: The Switch 2 Will Emulate Switch Games, Because It Shares No Internal Hardware With Its Predecessor
So this means the console is quite powerful if it’s able to emulate the same performance as the OG Switch.
Honestly the console is looking better and better spec wise, games do look amazing, but prices man…
Re: Uh Oh, Switch 2's Home Screen Looks Just As Bland As We Feared
