If you're planning on picking up the special Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch, just be mindful that it's also a limited time deal.
The official website for this system celebrating Mario's 35th anniversary has reportedly been updated and now includes the following message below - noting how this product will be sent to retailers until the end of March:
The Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. system (releasing Nov. 13) will continue to be shipped to retailers through approximately March 31, 2021, and will be available for purchase while supplies last.
Nintendo has made it very clear that the end of March marks the end of Super Mario's anniversary celebrations. After this, Super Mario Bros. 35 and Super Mario 3D All-Stars will no longer be offered.
Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. will be released next month on 13th November. For more information, check out our pre-order guide. Will you be adding one of these anniversary systems to your own Nintendo collection? Tell us below.

Im not sure how many times i have bought super mario bros. 1 .. but looks like im going in just one more time
I went to go preorder it when it first went up....saw add to cart, clicked it....aannnndddd it’s gone!
This actually makes sense since they don't want to keep having to make them. Printing a switch cart does not.
But I will give it to them, all stars is not out of stock so anyone that wants one now is free to buy it physical or digital from almost anywhere.
Has it been hacked yet?
I am so getting this... once the pre-orders have settled and people stop caring about this, but still have enough time to buy it before the final day.
Hope I get my pre-order on release date.
Kinda neat for a novelty item but I already have no shortage of Nintendo handhelds to play that on. If it's too difficult to buy I'll just consider it not worth the effort.
@Coach_A I've been barking up the same tree for ages with them not covering Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV coming to Switch (one of the best Grand Strategy games series of all time). They go where the clicks go. What we like is inconsequential unfortunately.
"Get it while you can"
Nope.
The only thing this has going for it is that it's better than Sega's joke of a Game Gear mini.
And that ain't saying much.
I would "get it while I can" if there were any darn preorders available here in the States.
The only reason I will buy it is so anyone can make a Gameboy Classic Mini out of it.
What's with the blurry/filtered display? It somehow looks worse than how it did on 3DS.
If people can hack it so you can load the entire NES library onto it, then sure, count me in.
Well then, I guess they'll only get my money for a limited time to then
I'm going to try and get this. I do wish this had one of the original Mario Game & Watch games like Oil Panic. Instead we got Ball but with Mario's giant head stitched onto Mr. Game & Watch's body like some Frankenstein creation...
I like it for the novelty concept. Will likely use it as a clock display all the time, and play some lost levels maybe if the screen doesn't suck.
Pre-Ordered it day one. I'm not the biggest Mario fan, but I did grow up around Game & Watch consoles. I loved that metal finish on the cases. This was too cute and nostalgic to pass up on, the price is also very reasonable. I'm going to save the box in a sealed bag. A treasured investment.
Gameboy Micro Classic or nothing, this is definitely overpriced
I've been waiting so long for U.S. pre-orders to open up. Hopefully I'm able to pre-order the Game & Watch soon.
Somehow my mom heard about this and thought it was the true successor to the 3DS. She then proceeded to chew me out for "wasting money" on another video game console. I found that hilarious because I have no interest in this product whatsoever.
@roy130390 I can’t get over your icon. It’s just too perfect. What was the name of the YouTube video again? You told me a few months ago but I’ve forgotten again. (Sorry)
Honestly, I'm not interested in it. If it had all of the Game and Watch games on it, I would've jumped on it.
@Kilamanjaro There already is a GameBoy Micro..
I also already have pre-ordered this. It'd be fun to play between XBOX Series X game sessions
How much does this thing even cost? It's so out of stock I haven't even seen the price yet.
@nab1 I have it on pre-order for € 54,99. But I've seen it on pre-orders between €49,99 and €69,99.
@0blivion Haha thanks and don't worry! It's called Happy Souls.
@roy130390 again- thank you. I can’t stop laughing.
@OstianOwl From what' I've been hearing pre-orders won't be offered for the US market for some unknown reason.
Got three pre-ordered, intend to just open one and try and hack it if I can and keep the other two sealed.
Waiting for my 10 pre-orders so that I can sell them for inflated prices later.
/s
@BoyfriendOfDeath
Hopefully it’s hackable. 🤞🏻
Sorry just not for me.
I've played and brought Super Mario Bros. so many times that even the "impressive" gimmick of it being in a plastic covering of a Game & Watch device isn't likely to change my mind...
Reminder? More like a tease for those of us in North America. Where is our pre-order? Oh, I forgot, it starts at some random time when everyone is working and gets sold out in an hour.
That's ok, I'm still not getting it. Interesting collectors items though it is.
I've been trying to preorder it, but haven't seen any updates on Best Buy or Amazon.
Wish I wasn't "boooorn in the USA,".
@Slowdive ah, another Dutchman..
I live in the USA and pre-ordered from Amazon UK the day Nintendo Life shared the link. I trust Nintendo of America to always always always fail at these releases
Had pre-ordered this on the day of announcement and wondered when it was releasing. Thank you for the reminder guys, looking forward to this.
I will be getting this gem for sure.what a cool little machine.
@Lordplops good job being an example of why it's out of stock. Do you really need 3 just for you?
I want it like a crazy!!!
Reminds me young beautiful times...
Amazing!!!
I would like one but where’s the preorder?
I'm just waiting for preorders in the US.
I already have 3 Super Mario Bros 1 copies. So l don't need this.
But it's really for the collectors anyways
@doctorhino yeah they have so much All Stars stock at my local stores it’s nuts
@doctorhino What do you suspect, people do it so they can get more money for it when selling it in the future🙄😒
So l agreed with you that it's unnecessary to own 3 copies of a limited time game, unless they're planning on giving it to other family members.
@Mr_Persona yeah I mean I understand people will do it but coming on this site to brag about it? Does he expect people to be impressed with antics like that.
@GannonBanned they certainly did a good job shutting down the ebay auctions jacking up the price after the initial preorders sold out
People are going to whine at them about a reprint anyway, and accuse them of enabling scalpers.
I've ordered mine purely for nostalgia and it will make a nice little desk clock. I really don't think that even if you could hack the entire NES library onto this it would be the optimum way to play them. It just looks lovely.
Not selling as many as demand will sell of this unit is not smart on Nintendos part. (Assuming it makes a profit per unit sold) Also, delisting the game "Super Mario 3D all stars" from even the eshop is also not smart. Personally, I'm starting to hear news of Nintendo releases as noise. I never believe it. I can't imagine why Nintendo thinks that kind of image is good for customers to have.
$50 plus the stress of limited stock hunting for Mario 1 and a Mario themed clock app?
Looks at 3DS
Yeah, I think I'm all set. Heck, this just reminded me of the Mario Clock app I haven't used in ages. I'm going to set an alarm on that for old times sake.
@sanderev I was referring to a "Classic" version that comes preloaded with games like the NES Classic or SNES Classic hehe
No nostalgia here for me unless it has Wolf from Nu Pogodi catching eggs.
@Slowdive nederlanderrr
Lol i lost the count on how many i have played mario bros. Eventho its free on the switch... Why... But why do i feel the need to buy this on game&watch to play that same game again haha.
Makes sense. From a marketing point of view. Its a collectors item to show off to your friends or to sell some years later at an even higher price. Well a PS5 game cost 70$ so i guess $49.99 for such a retro-nostalgic piece of hardware is more than fair
@Dethmunk The country thing is the main issue, Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch preorders are more than likely not going to be a thing here.
I preordered mine but won’t be opening it until Christmas. I too am going to mainly use the clock function and probably a bit of Mario ball.
Been trying to pre-order this, but it has never come in stock in the US. Hopefully it will soon. I want this for the collection.
@IPrino From what I've heard there won't be preorders for it in the States.
@Slowdive ach wat leuk!
Every little nag like this is a reminder of how needlessly crappy Nintendo is being with this time-limited release. And every reminder makes it easier to show Nintendo a middle finger and resist buying.
@BreathingMiit
Yeah good thing this never happens in any other industry or with any other company. That's why I can still go into a Footlocker and buy original 1991 Air Jordans...
Physical goods have always been time-limited. This is nothing new in the world of business.
@Slowdive lekker man
@ZebZed man that is not good. Guess i will try to snag one in release day. Thank you for the heads up.
If it can be used as a clock I assume it must have some sort of Switch like stand at the back? Pretty useless for that purpose if not.
Limited as in only 1 billion pcs will be made
