Stardew Valley! I’m currently exploring the main new area. I have no idea what’s going on or really what I’m doing but for a game I’ve sunk almost 400 hours into it’s great to be experiencing something new.
To be honest I’m not sure. If Stardew Valley 1.5 comes out I’ll hop on that straight away but until that comes out I’ll probably just mess about in BOTW.
While impatiently waiting for Stardew Valley 1.5 I’m filling the time collecting Smash Spirits. I need lots of gold to buy the store-only spirits so the current Spirit Board event is helping a little.
@Heavyarms55 I’m same as you, in anticipation I recently set up Twitter notifications for when CA posts. He posted this up at 1am last night and woke me up and I wasn’t even that mad ahah.
Splatoon 2, I’m crazy tired all the time recently so haven’t played it but been encouraged to come back for the Splatfest and having a blast. I’m pretty rusty, sorry Team Mushroom!
There should be a reverse speedrun to see who can last the longest. But you just know the record would end up being 11 days and involve someone dying in real life.
Really excited to play this, this is my longest played game on Switch by quite a margin. I’m especially excited for split-screen multiplayer, playing Stardew with my partner should be fun.
New Super Lucky’s Tale (my brain is mush at the moment and this seems like it’ll be straightforward) Stardew Valley (No reason except I am obsessed with Stardew)
Smash, I’m aiming for all spirits. Fewer than 200 left but didn’t realise I’d need gold for shop specific spirits so I’ve hopped back on for this gold boosting spirit board event.
@wazlon I mean personally I’d like a whole Sonic Nintendo handheld collection. I think the 3DS games might be going too far but a package of the GBA & DS games would be amazing. The DS games would need some tinkering to make them single screen but I’d say it’s worth it since they’re good games.
Kingdom Hearts 3 and Sonic Advance. Been super craving the Sonic Advance series for some reason. Would love an enhanced port collection on Switch rather than the Mega Drive games for the 70th time.
First: The 3DS got me back into gaming. I had a trip to Paris planned for a few months after Pokémon X&Y came out and made it a goal to play X while sat by the Eiffel Tower. I scrimped together the cash and bought one second hand and played X in the grass by the tower on a beautiful sunny day.
Second: I had pet rats and they did bring me joy thankyouverymuch
I’m interested for sure, hopefully this demo will come West. I’ve been on the fence on picking it up for a while. Heard some good things about it but the mix of 3D with 2D sprites looks weird to me but might not look so bad when actually playing.
I bought the Who Wants to be a Millionaire game on PS1 (I was a kid) and was so instantly bored I tried to take it back. The shop wouldn’t take it.
My dad took a liking to it but didn’t understand controllers so he would say the answers and I’d select them. He would regularly have to wake me up as it was so dull.
I have whatever the bad version of nostalgia is for this.
Nintendo: Mario Galaxy, so great to return to this and it looks amazing in HD. Non-Nintendo: FFXV, been wanting to play this for years. I’m about 4 hours in and barely progressed the story yet.
!!! I’ve wanted this for about 2 years! This is my most played game on the Switch, will be great to play with my partner.
ConcernedApe is an amazing developer, how he’s done so many substantial content updates for free is really nice.
@Snatcher It’s like if Animal Crossing had proper characters and actual quality of life features. For example, crafting multiples of an item is super quick. For me the game is more goal-orientated but you can get decorative like Animal Crossing if you want. It might not be for everyone but if you like the genre this is the cream of the crop.
This and Mario 3D World are the only games I’m itching to buy in the near future. I loved both of the 3DS games and am looking forward to spending some time with the new characters. Gutted that Edea and Ringabel probably won’t be in it though.
@Averagewriter fun fact: in Harry Potter, Tom Riddle’s middle name in the French version is Elvis. It’s something to do with making translation work with the anagram of his name to Voldemort.
I’m being given an XBox One S this afternoon with Red Dead Redemption 2 so this weekend will be setting it up and trying it out. First non-Nintendo console I’ve had for yeeeears.
Smash for the Spirit Event, getting closer to getting all the spirits.
I may also play Ovivo, a surreal monochrome platformer that’s on sale. Apparently it’s only a couple of hours long but I don’t have much free time at the moment so it should fit in nicely.
Aside from the Adventure games I’ve played quite a few of these and yet the only one I gave higher than a 5 was Colours. I don’t know why I do it to myself.
2D Sonic on the other hand would fare far better with most (NOT YOU SONIC 4) being good to excellent.
@OorWullie I feel similar, I really enjoyed it and completed a lot of it but it was so long and difficult in places I don’t feel like returning. I definitely don’t regret purchasing and am likely to eat the sequel.
But as for the Direct-ish, sounds good! If I’m available at the time I’ll drop in and see what’s going on.
I’m hoping for Mania 2, either with all new levels or callbacks to old levels from non-16-bit games. For example, Rooftop Run in a 16-bit style.
Second, I’m really hoping for a handheld port collection. The 3 Advance games, Rush 1&2 and Colours for the DS. I’d love it if for the Advance games they pulled back the camera a bit, it’s been done by fans on PC so it is possible.
My favourite was IX until I replayed VII, IX and X all over the past year. I still gave 10 stars to IX but X has overtaken it for me.
X has such a rich world, a really diverse cast of characters and my favourite battle and levelling systems. Even the occasionally dodgy voice acting doesn’t really bother me as I find it kind of charming.
Playing Pokemon HeartGold for the first time, preparing to face off against the big bad (Whitney)
And will probably play Panel De Pon with my partner at some point too as it’s become our go-to multiplayer game. It’s the only use I’ve got out of NSO for months.
That’s gorgeous, possibly the prettiest 3D platformer I’ve seen! Mainly bumped up by the amazing colours and world design. Hopefully this’ll run well on Switch.
@RainbowGazelle oops, missed that in my sleepiness! It was a strange game but I liked it, got it in a swap with a friend who wanted my copy of Space Harrier 2 which I hated.
I had a Mega Drive game that I think was called Global Champions. It was HEAVILY McDonalds themed.
It was a run n gun sort of platformer where you collected McDonalds M’s and shot gloopy creatures. At the end of each level Ronald McDonald would be there waving a flag.
The best part was a mini game where you had to throw garbage in the correct recycling bin. That’s not a joke, I used to play that mini game more than the actual game.
Edit: Global Gladiators, didn’t see that part of the article.
@NotoriousWhiz ahah I’ve got all that to look forward to then! It’s been fun to revisit in short bursts, I’m currently going for all purple coins and picking up whatever moons I find on the way.
Super Mario Odyssey... decided to finally go back and slowly attempt to 100% it. I’ve got a 2 month old baby and taken up digital art so won’t fit much in though!

Iconoclasts on Switch. Can’t say I’m enjoying it that much but I’m fairly close to the end so would like to see it through.

Re: Can You Name These Pokémon?
I resisted doing this as I knew it would depress me, and sure enough it did. 12/12.
Re: Review: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition - Still The Bob-omb 10 Years On
@Balladeer Same for me, I love the Scott Pilgrim series but can’t justify giving Ubisoft my money.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 9th)
Bit of Smash as there’s a Spirit Board event on. Might also make a little more progress in Iconoclasts.
Re: Random: Fake Nintendo Direct Leak "Reveals" The Name Of Breath Of The Wild 2
You can tell it’s fake because the Kingdom Hearts game has a comprehensible title.

Re: Hyper Light Drifter Dev Abylight Slams Twitter's 'Dangerous And Careless Attitude' After Surprise Ban
@sikthvash I wondered the same. Judging by the game’s Wikipedia, Heart Machine developed it and Abylight dealt with the Switch and iOS ports.
If they truly did nothing wrong then this is weird, but in that case I’m sure they can get back on the platform.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 14th)
Sonic Advance 1, done Sonic & Tails playthroughs, at final boss with Knuckles so only really Amy to go.
Might play some Tetris Effect or Kingdom Hearts 3 as well.

Either Alien Isolation or FFXV if I get the time but between making art and caring for a baby there’s so little time these days!

Re: "Nintendo Isn't That Smart": Pachter Says Nintendo Should Scrap Switch And 'Only Have Switch Lite'
You can prove anything with facts you just made up. I learned that from politics.
I doubt only 20% use it as both, and even if that is true, that’s ignoring people who only play docked.

Mario 3D All Stars (got it for my birthday today, woo!) and a little bit of Smash.
Haven’t decided how to play 3D All Stars, on one hand I want to play them chronologically, but also can’t wait to play Galaxy.

Disgaea 5 for me. Not sure if I’m enjoying it but will press on as still quite early.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 15th)
Smash Ultimate, chipping away at getting all spirits. Only about 300 left.
Also Disgaea 5 which I got this morning. I’ve really craved some SRPG recently.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 8th)
Runner3 and Smash Ultimate (going for all spirits). Will probably play Panel De Pon with my partner too as it’s our go-to multiplayer game now.

I’m supposed to be tackling my backlog but I’m on I Am Setsuna and finding it incredibly dull.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 11th)
Working through the backlog, next game is I Am Setsuna... but I might fob that off for a bit and replay Sonic Rush first.
Re: Can You Name These Switch Games From Their Menu Icons?
I got 17, not too shabby. I don’t own most of the ones I got but I like idly browsing the eshop.
