News that we'll soon be snapping Pocket Monster pics on Switch when New Pokémon Snap arrives on 30th April 2021 has gotten us all excited to crack out our camera again and scour our digital surroundings for the critters. You gotta catch 'em all (on film), right?
With two decade's worth of new Pokémon added to the National Dex since the original Pokémon Snap released on Nintendo 64, that's a daunting number to commit to memory. However, we're seasoned veterans of the Pokémon series — we know our Bidoofs from our Binacles! — and we're relatively confident we'll be able to spot even the most reclusive 'mon with our keen eyes come the end of April.
How confident are you, though? Well, we've put together a little quiz to test your knowledge of Pokémon and their anatomy. In the zoomed in pics below, we've isolated a small part of a dozen Pokémon and it's up to you to identify the beastie from the multiple options. We've even twisted and rotated several clue images just to make it a little bit trickier.

Only had lapras wrong due to thinking it was cloyster. But give me a shadow of any pokemon and I can name it.
10 out of 12, got Magby and Lapras wrong which I saw as Lickilicky and Cloyster.
I'm not a huge Pokemon fan so I will have my brother to do it.

Lapras, seemingly echoing everyone else. Once I realised you'd begun rotating them it was easy for the rest, but that one caught me.
12/12 Got them all right! The Lapras one was the trickiest one but I knew the color wasn't right to be a Cloyster.

@Blooper987 Yeah, I took Weezing there. While I noticed that the color doesn't exactly match I though maybe it's an old artwork cause those often have weird coloring

11/12 thought magby was vulpix had to actually think on one or two though.
I did worse guessing than just if I had picked ‘c’ every time.
Made the same mistake with Lapras. Honestly didn't even notice it was a choice before I had already clicked on Cloyster. Others were so easy I could have answered them without multiple choices.

I got one out of twelve, which is better than I expected and I would have said that if I got zero as well. I don't know Pokemon, I just catch them and make them fight.

This was painfully easy, the longest amount of time I spent on one option was at Pidove, I didn't realize that they were flipping the pictures. Everything else was a smooth ride lol

Dartrix got me. I thought I’d do okay so long as there weren’t too many SwSh Pokemon, and lo and behold, it was Rowlett’s evolution that got me. Embarrassingly I didn’t even know its name.

I definitely remember Dodrio in Let's Go Eevee. My team was not a good match against it, and I could only beat them with AI exploits.

11/12. The Lapras got me too. I assumed the angle of the shell made it Cloyster. But I did think Lapras was a possibility, even in spite of that passing thought.
@Letzg077 I think that sword and shield were good but they were on par with ds games when they were console games which is not okay I mean I felt like nothing on this game was impossible for a ps2 or gamecube to handel and although the wild area is great the game just has lots of little problems that had no excuse to exist. Game freak should have put much more effort into the writing, animation, and optimization of the game it feels rushed. I mean this game lags HARD for me in some areas it doesn't make the game miserable but it happens a lot more than you'd think sometimes for three to four seconds at a time with zero frames. Like I said this game isn't even that technically impressive with the pop in and such. To put it in perspective, doom eternal runs great on switch. I liked how they fixed the national Dex though through dlc (less pokemon I felt gave the game some focus and the ones in dlc were most of the fan favorites that got cut) and also the dlc was really good this game would probably be much worse without it. I am also excited for the gen 4 remake gen 4 is my favorite and my first gen. Let's hope they don't destroy what is in my opinion the most memorable game in the series and make it fresh in some ways as well. But if they can fix the failures of sword they NEED TO THROW MONEY AT IT come on swords devs needed more time and money that is the truth absolutely.
