At the end of last year, Stardew Valley's developer ConcernedApe told console players there was a chance version 1.5 might be released by the "end" of January but didn't want to make any guarantees.
So, what's the latest? The console version of this update has now been submitted for certification and while there are still no promises, ConcernedApe feels his original estimate of late this month or early on in February is still likely to come true.
If you've not been keeping up with our Stardew Valley updates, version 1.5 is already out on PC. It contains a new beach farm, advanced game options and more. You can see the changelog in our previous post, but be warned - it may contain spoilers.

I can't wait to start playing Stardew Valley again once the update drops. Splitscreen multiplayer sounds like a lot of fun!
I want to get back to Stardew and actually try out the multiplayer mode with my sister. She doesn't have the game so I'm keeping an eye out on discounts so she can get it for cheaper in case she doesn't like it as much as I do. Or I could just buy the game for her myself. I believe 1.5 includes local multiplayer so that would also be a good way to try it out.
Wonderful news! I've been itching to start a new farm. Can't wait!
@thehoppypoppy You can start a new farm before the update and everything will still apply once it is released. In fact, it may be better just so that you can have a head start for when it actually releases.
Oh boy. Another game that will jump right back to the top of my backlog.
@Galaxy I want to start a beach farm though. I guess I should have been more specific. 😅
My big question is how many players can play on split screen? This is huge deciding factor for me as to which console I'm buying it for.
@Professorgenius that seems to depend on the console. They haven't specified the details.
I think it could be safe to assume that the switch version will be limited to two players though.
@thehoppypoppy ah. Understandable. Although remember, sprinklers won't work on sand.
Oooh can't wait! I've been playing multiplayer Stardew quite a bit lately.
I've been checking for news about this update religiously every single day since like November. I really want to play it!
And I haven't let myself look up the details of the update. I only know that there's a bunch of new stuff!
I have been playing on PC. The beach farm is very cool. A nice little challenge map and beautiful as well!
@Heavyarms55 I’m same as you, in anticipation I recently set up Twitter notifications for when CA posts. He posted this up at 1am last night and woke me up and I wasn’t even that mad ahah.
I absolutely LOVE Stardew Valley and have put over 150 hours into it but I haven't played in about a year but as much as I'm thrilled about the update I think I may get burnt out on the farming/life sim as I'm currently still playing Animal Crossing,My Time In Portia and recently bought and started Story of Seasons Friends Of MIneral Town..
@Galaxy I think my plan at this point is to focus primarily on livestock and artisan goods. I'm assuming I can use sprinklers in the greenhouse still (once I get it unlocked).
@Wazeddie22 I've been meaning to pick up My Time In Portia, how is it? I've heard good things
Been very impatiently waiting for this! My first farm was a Riverside farm and I loved it, and I’m really wanting my second farm to be a Beach Farm.
Can't wait for the update! Looks like it has tons of content.
@Late If you are able to buy it from the Mexican eshop through a secondary account, you can get it for $7.50.
@Wazeddie22 Haha! Don't worry. The Switch can handle the intensive graphics and processing of Stardew just fine
@FluffiestP1llow I'm loving it,so much to do.Takes a while to get going but isant that like all games?Put about 60 hours into it so far.And although it's a game that can go on forever it also has a story and an end but it looks like I'm nowhere near it.lol
Gotta say though I'm playing it on Ps4 so it runs fine so can't say how well it runs on Switch.
@PDT Oops, sorry I was actually replying to the above about My Time In Portia (that I'm playing on PS4),I'm playing Stardew on Switch so I know it can handle THAT lol
@Wazeddie22 I almost teared up with nostalgia because of your avatar...
@BEEFHAMMA Just glad someone else remembers it! One of my first and definitely my fave RPGs of all time!
@Wazeddie22 No kidding. I wish I could be 12 again for a week and play that again for the first time!
@Galaxy True, but that won't work if you are planning on using the beach farm, like I am.
