Umm… Maximum Velocity was the first GBA game I purchased (right along with the GBA itself) and it most certainly did have multiplayer (via link cable). If you look closely at the pic of the front of the box, it even says so right on it. 🤷🏼♂️
@EarthboundBenjy This game is criminally underrated. It is easily the 2nd best Castlevania game, and selling my copy many years ago is a huge regret of mine. If this ever gets ported to modern consoles it would be an insta-purchase for me.
I am glad they went with the appearances of the Lee brothers from the original (Billy = blond; Jimmy = dark hair). I don’t know why, but it really bothered me when they switched their appearances around. 🤪
@Snatcher It is sad how far IGN has fallen. It used to be such a fun site to visit for reviews and had a fun comments section. Now it is simply a cesspool of toxicity whose credo seems to be “generate more clicks at any cost.”
@SpaceboyScreams I haven’t played the Pixel Remaster version yet, but out of the others that I have played, I preferred the GBA one because the Pixel art in that one is gorgeous.
@CharlieGirl FFIV was my first as well. I rented it on SNES expecting it to be like Dragon Warrior on NES. Dragon Warrior was the only other JRPG I had ever played at that time and was expecting FFIV to be similar. I still remember how surprised I was at how more advanced the combat system was in FFIV than I was expecting! My young brain was not prepared for it at the time. FFIV is by no means my favorite of the series (VI gets that honor) but it is definitely the one I have played through the most times. The nostalgia is strong.
@Wheatly Dawn of War II reviewed well and was great, but unfortunately not a whole lot of people I know played it. Not even the really big 40k fans I know.
I didn’t find out that you could save Shadow until after playing through the entirety of Final Fantasy VI for the first time. After I discovered this, I proceeded to start the whole game over and play through it again. The game was so damn good that I didn’t even mind.
I must say, the movie really knocked it out of the park with the Bowser design. Also, with Jack Black as the voice actor, I kind of wish the whole film was going to center on Bowser.
A Breath of Fire collection on Switch would be an insta-purchase for me. I have only ever played the first one and would like a convenient, portable way to play the rest of them. If they also want to release a brand new series entry, I guess I could live with that as well.
I will most likely buy RE4R.
I will definitely buy the next Mega-Man.
I love Street Fighter, but wasn't huge on IV or V, but may give VI a shot.
@OldManHermit Dragon’s Crown was fantastic. It was easily the game that saw the most hours played on my Vita. If they ever ported it to Switch it would be an instant purchase.
@Doctor_Pancakes I have to admit that I am in the same boat. For whatever reason, that hair annoys me way more than it should. It is so over-the-top that it is distracting.
@Tempestryke Oh man, I don't know... Dark Souls is a pretty tough game, but I honestly cannot recall any part of Dark Souls being as big of a nightmare as trying to get through Zelda II's Death Mountain without a walkthrough back in the day.
@chipia To preface, I love the game, so I am not just trying to knock on it here, but difficulty spikes and overly cryptic puzzles are going to make it difficult for newcomers to enjoy it. Also, cheap deaths can happen often, which can be very frustrating. Part of the issue too is that the NES hardware really limited the game as well (cut and paste towns, samey looking dungeons, bland overworld map). This is part of the reason I think the game was really ahead of its time. The concept was very inspired, but imagine how much more this game could have been had it been designed for the SNES. Admittedly though, they did accomplish a lot with the game considering hardware limitations.
2 was the first Zelda game I ever played, so it was a pretty big deal to me. That being said, the game is admittedly very flawed. Great concept, arguably way ahead of it’s time, but we, the gamers, may not have been ready for that type of game at that time. And that difficulty level… woof! I think a new Zelda game in it’s style could really be something special if done right.

@link12684 At this point I would not only buy myself a copy, I would buy copies for all my Switch playing friends. It has been too damn long.

You can’t go around comparing everything to Shredder’s Revenge though. Shredder’s Revenge was absolutely perfect.

The NA and Europe ones both look awesome, but my vote still goes with Japan on this one because I love Yoshitaka Amano‘s art.

“ My recent forays into the RTS genre have not brought me back to my 12 year old feelings about those games.”
Yeah, I am 100% with you there now too. I used to love RTS, but now I much prefer turn based strategy games over them.
