@tyranny_life DQ1 on NES was my first ever RPG as well. To this day I still have vivid memories of playing it as a child who could barely even read at that time. It was the game that started a lifelong addiction to not only JRPGs, but medieval fantasy in general.
@OldManHermit Same here. I rented/borrowed/purchased and played a pretty absurd amount of SNES games back in the day, so it always throws me off a little bit when something like this pops up and I have never even heard of it before.
@BlubberWhale Oh, and Mario RPG is a VERY good place to start with JRPGS as the mechanics are very straightforward in the early game and it does a really good job of progressively teaching you to play tactically. Also, the game itself is very charming.
Yes. This article is 100% accurate. I played Terraria a little bit when it first came out. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but then it fell of my radar for a while. I tried playing it again a year or so ago and it felt like I was playing a completely different game. I couldn’t get back into it and haven’t touched it again since nor do I ever plan to.
The original Fallout and Fallout II were utterly amazing games, BUT anyone who remembers them well knows that A LOT of the dialog in those games would likely get censored/edited before these would be put on Switch. There is no way those games would have been able to get released as they are in today’s climate. I am not condoning censorship nor do I agree with it. I am just pointing out what would likely prevent us from seeing this on Switch.
@Specter_of-the_OLED The Kingdom Hearts debacle is terrible. I cannot speak for Babylon’s Fall, but Stranger of Paradise is actually a surprisingly fun game that manages to satirize Final Fantasy games while also paying homage to them.
@ChromaticDracula If you are into new GBC games, check out Infinity if you haven't already. It recently went through a Kickstarter campaign and looks like it is going to be pretty fun.
The amount of support they have been giving this game is simply astounding. Every penny I spent on this remaster was worth it (and I bought it on two consoles).
Thank you! I guess I should have read that then, huh? That is pretty cool then. I still have my original copy of it in nearly perfect condition, so I guess I have no reason for buying it, but this is really cool for people that still have their SNES (or a Polymega).
@Fizza If you want to play a great classic point and click adventure, I would highly recommend checking out Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. The original version is on GOG.com and well worth a look if you are interested in the genre.
“Final Fantasy VIII's remaster proves to be just as weird and polarizing a release”
Indeed, it was VERY polarizing when it first released. I absolutely loved it and I remember a good friend of mine who was also a huge FF fan hating it with a passion. Some of the mechanics were kind of weird, but they were still fun and the characters in FFVIII were great. Google essays sometime regarding how Squall has schizoid personality disorder.
I have yet to play a game that is creepier than PT was (the playable teaser for the cancelled Silent Hills game on PS4). It is a shame we never got to see the full game come to fruition.
Ogre Battle 64 was crazy good. I would love a port or remaster of that one on Switch, but would obviously not complain about any of them showing up as remasters.
I love GBA and backed this game the same day I heard about it. I also backed Infinity (GBC). With the Analog Pocket out now, I wonder if we will be seeing more of these.

So is Dragon Quest III HD-2D vaporware at this point? 😕

@BlubberWhale Uh oh! Beware, there is always the chance they will turn you into a hopeless JRPG addict! 🙂

Re: Video: Who's Playing Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl In 2022?
@Not_Soos I am more surprised that @mariomaster96 doesn’t know who the ninja turtles are.
Re: Feature: The 12 Best Wrestling Games On Nintendo Systems
A friend of mine owned Saturday Night Slam Masters when we were kids and I remember us having so much fun playing team mode.

Re: Back Page: EVERYONE STAY CALM. Here's How To Game Safely On Friday 13th
I was laughing to myself during the entirety of this article, but the last section about Dark Souls got me the most.
Re: Poll: If Nintendo Released Mother 3 In The West, What Would It Be Called?
I wouldn’t care if they went ahead and named it “Butt Chunk Fever.” I would still buy it.
Re: Fei Long Will Never Appear In Street Fighter Again, Says SFV Composer
I never really played as Fei Long, so I am more bummed that Law will likely no longer appear in Tekken games… 🙁
Re: Talking Point: As Switch Hardware Sales Slow, How Long Can Nintendo Delay 'Switch 2'?
@Primo40295 Yes. This.
If this is the case, I will be buying one as soon as I am able.
Re: Feature: 18 Best Credits Sequences And Loading Screens That Let You Do Stuff
Not a Nintendo game, but the end credits sequence in Splosion Man on Xbox 360 is still one of the greatest things ever.
Re: Review: Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute - A Solid Switch Port For An Epic Space Shmup
I think it is safe to say at this point that if you are a fan of either JRPGs or shoot-em-ups, then you would be crazy not to own a Switch.

Re: Rumour: 18+ Super Mario LEGO Set Looks To Be The Biggest Yet
@FTL Oh I know. I am just pointing out how silly the recommended age seems. 🙂
@abdias made a really good point in their comment though.
Re: Rumour: 18+ Super Mario LEGO Set Looks To Be The Biggest Yet
16 years of age. Old enough to drive a car? Yes.
Old enough to put together a 2807 piece Lego set? Hell no.
Re: Chained Echoes Lets You Pilot Mechs In A World Of Dragons, And It's Coming To Switch This Year

This isn’t really my preferred genre, but holy cow what a visually beautiful game!
Re: Random: This Stunning Final Fantasy VI 'Terra Magitek Armour' Statue Costs A Small Fortune
Every statue, action figure, plush, etc. on the Square-Enix shop is wildly overpriced, but this definitely takes things to a whole new level...

@ChromaticDracula I have been eyeballing Dragonbourne DX as well but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge Hones In On Summer Release
Ok, getting the original voice actors is actually really damn cool. That is awesome.
Re: Classic Beat-Em-Up 'Battletoads & Double Dragon' Gets An NES Re-Release
@NotoriousWhiz Yeah, I am not sure either why they picked the NES version to do this with when the SNES one was the one most people seem to remember.

Re: Take A Closer Look At The Citadel And Garangolm In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
I still have never played any of these games, but it definitely looks like Capcom gives a lot of love to these titles.
Re: Feature: Best Eggs In Games
The Dark Souls entry on this list made me laugh out loud a bit. 🙂
I forgot all about that part of the game.
Re: Rogue Legacy 2 Is Coming, But Not To Switch (Yet?)
The first game was highly addicting, so I will definitely be tempted to pick up the sequel on my Xbox.
Re: Talking Point: If Breath Of The Wild 2 Launched Alongside New Switch Hardware, Would You Upgrade?
100% backward compatibility and the option to transfer all my current data to the new console would make upgrading a no-brainer.

Goodbye money…
Re: Unsouled Is A 'Brutally Intense' Action-RPG That's All About Precision Combat

This seems about right. Nevada is a pretty wild place. 🙂
Re: Feature: Nintendo Reigns Supreme At The Science Museum's 'Power UP' Exhibition
@Olliemar28 @Specter_of-the_OLED
Mmm... yes. It should have been the GBA SP ags-101. The perfect blend of form and function.
