It's that time of the week yet again. The working week is finally at an end (well, for some of us, we feel your pain if you have to go to work this weekend), so we're ready to share with you the games playing on our Nintendo Switches and 3DS in the next couple of days. It's a diverse buffet on offer, ranging from classic action-RPGs to multiplayer shooters, and a couple of shmups thrown in for good measure.
As always, be sure to vote on your choices from the poll below and add your own choice in the comments section. Let's get the weekend conversation started!

I'm not 100% sure what games I'm going to dive into this weekend as at the time of writing I'm so drowsy I feel like if I lay down I may not get up again until Monday. Assuming that doesn't happen I'm going to dive headfirst into Fe, rekindle my passion for Stardew Valley, and most importantly of all get as far into Bayonetta 2 as I dare. I'll probably be up for some impromptu multiplayer as well should a certain special someone come online. If you're reading this John, hello.

Despite the veritable treasure trove of indie titles I'm dying to try out, I've been sinking more and more time into Skyrim on Switch - a game I've already played to death years before. It's genuinely incredible having a world like that on a handheld, and swapping over from one reality to another while tucked up in bed after a long day. Having skipped over the DLC first time around, I'm excited to actually uncover some new content eventually, though for the moment I'm still pretty happy sneaking my way around the same old snowy landscapes, glitches and all.

I’m not anticipating having much time to dive into games this weekend, but if I do get a chance I’ve got a new Switch game I’m very excited to unwrap and try out: Gal Metal! I’m a huge music game fan, and I’ve been looking forward to this manic, manga-styled drumming simulator since I first laid eyes on its explosive aesthetic and DIY rhythm gameplay.
I’ll also likely continue playing a bit of VOEZ before bed each night — I’m loving all the post-release support it’s received, and I’ve been having a great time working my way through the new songs from the recent update!
Dave Letcavage, contributing writer
Darn you, Aqua Kitty UDX. You had your claws in me years back when you were in your vanilla form on Xbox 360. But now you’re on Switch, with additional content in tow, and I’m lapping up your arcade-style shmup action all over again. That’s surely going to devour the lion’s share of my weekend right there.
When, and if, I complete all modes on standard difficulty, I’m likely to unwrap my physical copy of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap and give that a go. Beyond that? I don’t know. Maybe the wife and I will partake in another round of blindfolded ARMS. I swear I can win this time!

I’ve tried really hard to resist getting it again, but this weekend I’ll likely fold and buy Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 all over again on Switch. As is typical with a Switch re-release, I’m so keen to see how they play in handheld mode, and a higher frame rate sounds good to me. There’s also the fact that I totally sucked at it the original time and want to have another stab at picking up a few more platinum trophies.

The recent release of Mercenaries Saga Chronicles is perfect timing as I’ve been craving a game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. It might not be the same level of quality, but it makes up for it with the amount of value on offer and the fact it’s on the beloved Switch. As I’ll be out of the house for most of this weekend, I’m hoping to get at least few sessions of this tactical role-playing game in. The biggest problem is trying to decide which game in the series to start with.

This weekend I’ll be delving into SteamWorld Dig 2 on 3DS for review; we loved the game when it released on Switch last year and it will be interesting to see how the 3DS version compares when it hits the eShop next week. Considering how much the Switch is dominating the Nintendosphere at present, it’s pleasing to have yet another reason to pick up its little sibling once again.
Aside from that, I’ll likely be having a kick-about on FIFA 18. I managed to snag myself a physical copy for a very tempting price a couple of days ago, and my partner and I have a great time playing in friendly competition.

I will be spending this weekend to some quality time with my favorite Umbra Witches Bayonetta and Jeanne. I hope that folks who missed the brilliance of the second game on Wii U will now have a chance to play one of the finest action games I ever had the please of completing.
In between chapters, I will serve myself a ridiculously big slice of shmup action with Psikyo’s very first game Samurai Aces, the ridiculously awesome Aqua Kitty UDX (any game that uses a Dune quote as a tag line has to be good) and, thanks to the NL Caravan Shooting Challenge, Aero Fighters 2 is back on the menu. The time to once again show the power of Dolphin is upon us all.

Last weekend I finally finished my months-long quest to collect every moon, coin and outfit in Super Mario Odyssey, it's time to come up for air and check out some of the indie gems I've missed. This weekend I'll jump into Fe and find out more about what that game's all about. The contrasting colours are really visually appealing and the idea of learning how to speak with other wildlife is intriguing.
Aside from that, I'll also be taking a closer look at The End Is Nigh. Our reviewer loved it, but I haven't gotten a chance to play it really. I love Edmund Mcmillen's work, so I'm confident I'll have a good time. I also need to finish Fire Emblem Warriors though... Oh, and Bayonetta! So, I'll probably be playing...everything?
Dom Reseigh-Lincoln, editor
Having spent a lot of time with Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 for our official reviews (you can check them out here and here), I'm now craving something a little different to wash my palette. This weekend I'll be jumping back into Splatoon 2 to give the new version of the Sploshing Machine a 'whirl' (heh heh), as well as continuing to play through Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 on DS with my eldest because he's turned into a Pottermaniac and wants to do all things magic. Shame I can't conjure up a spell to make the game better...

So that's our picks for the weekend, but what's got your attention on the handful of days between one week and another. Give us a shout below...
Comments (172)
1. Portal Knights Switch
2. Animal Crossing New Leaf 3DS (3 retail copies & 1 digital). Still keep the date same and the time at 6 am every morning and evening. Sometimes i'm too bored to handle my 4 Different towns to prevent Move Out Villagers.
3. ARMS. Online play, but still haven't met Bengals76.
NBA 2k18 :3
I have too much to play this weekend!! Got golf story, forma.8 and axiom verge on sale and also bayonetta... Right now bayonetta as it is a first timer for me (even tough hack and slash is not really in my comfort zone)
More Xenoblade 2. All lvl 66 atm, aiming to reach 100. Not finished the main story yet.
Maybe some Celeste. Once I've finished that I'll treat myself to either Fe or Bayonetta
Splatfest (I got my butt kicked) and I got my physical copy of Wonder Boy so I'll play that too while I wait on Bayonetta to arrive. Also Yakuza Kiwami on PS4.
I'm still waiting for my Bayonetta preorder, so I'll be continuing my adventures in Possum Springs (Night in the Woods), and die about 10,000 times in The End Is Nigh.
Just started Marvel LEGO Super Heroes 2 with my son. It was his request for his birthday. On my own time I’ll continue SMO and BOTW
I need to delve back into Mario Odyssey, I've neglected it for a few weeks, I was in the Dominican Republic and Miami and like a fool I didn't take my Switch with me for the plane ride...
@WiltonRoots Is your company hiring?
Really enjoying mercenaries saga chronicles. I’m starting With the first game and it’s really quite fun . I love final fantasy tactics and this definetly helps scratch that tactical itch!
BOTW on WiiU. The game that just keeps on giving.
Super bomber man 2 (SNES)
Mario kart (SNES)
Retro goodness.........oh yes
@gortsi It was a trip organised by friends of mine in NYC for the Super Bowl, I know nothing about American Football but it was a good excuse to escape the cold of the UK. Sunshine, cold beer, white Hennessy and hot women, what's not to like?
Aero Fighters 2 for me.
More Persona 5 and some Fast RMX if I get the chance.
Bayonetta 2,Dying Light on Steam!
Splatoon 2, NA is having a Splatfest.
I guess I'll be delving into Bayonetta as I completely forgot to cancel my speculative preorder (I own the special edition on Wii U). Though the idea of having both games on the Switch simultaneously (with one being digital and the other on cart) does sound quite appealing. Aqua Kitty looks pretty good too, so I might give that a peep eventually.
Darkest Dungeon and Night in the Woods.
Dragon quest builders, axiom verge and the fall part 2. Many many hours of good gaming.
Can anyone spot the Red Herring in the poll? It shouldn't be there but instead counted as a "Something else!" vote. I may play Jotun: Valhalla Edition but I've a backlog of games that would last decades already, that I should be playing some of my older purchases first.
I grabbed Rabbids a few days ago, and am struggling to put it down - I really wasn’t expecting to like it much either
Secret Mana remake on PC
I would like to just spend the weekend watching the Olympics but due to limited-time events I have to play Pokémon GO and Splatoon 2 otherwise I'll miss things
@WiltonRoots oh man, that's the life!
There's little to choose from on the Switch, in the category 'New physical game for the Switch, for the single player, that is not an old PS port or a Wii u game moved from disc to card. And is not a game Like Wonderboy given a physical release at double the download price.
Well done Ubisoft for Mario+Rabbids, but almost a year on and new third party games are very thin on the ground.
-Sm4sh at a live tournament
-The Longest 5 Minutes
-Fire Emblem Warriors
-Some Celeste, probably
-Some Oxenfree, maybe
Gungeongungeongungeongungeon......
I'm close to beating the fifth chamber and/or the other route. But the bosses are so hard with their higher damage shots!
Shadow of the Colossus will be all I'm playing for quite a while.
You're probably bored of hearing it, but I ain't bored of playing it. The wonderful Super Mario Odyssey! I'm playing on my sons Switch when I get the chance and I HOPE to get back to it tomorrow. Working today and going out for dinner this evening as I was working Valentines day till half ten... Found a few more Power Moons in bed last night and reached Shiveria. What a game.
@MartyFlanMJFan
Btw, if i buy ALL the Moons from Toad at Mushroom Kingdoms (Cost 100 each), so i can unlock All Outfits ?
And i don't have to wandering around to search Missing Moons until reached 999 Moons ?
Metal gear solid 4 on PS3, PubG on xbox one and oxenfree on switch. Soon i will start MGS 3 on 3DS
Iiiiiiiit's Splatfest time! Go Team Love! Splatoon 2 probably has me booked for anywhere I go with internet. Other than that, probably ARMS in between. A weekend of two of my favorite games!
Pokémon Ultra Sun and New Leaf. Maybe Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Just started that game last weekend. My kids have a three day weekend because of family day in Canada
I haven't decided which Bayonetta game I'll play first so one of them and Fire Emblem Warriors. Might head back to Odyssey too as I've still got a fair amount of moon collecting to do.
@Anti-Matter You can technically cheat and get 999 moons from buying lots of moons from the yellow shop in the kingdoms but that takes away the fun. Sure at the moment you can't get 999 moons without buying some extra moons but there'll probably be new kingdoms later in the year that allows you to get 999 moons while only having to buy 1 moon from each kingdom.
Skyrim.
I recently earned a Platinum Trophy for Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and for now I'm working towards 100% Completion on Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix on Beginner Mode, hopefully I'll be able to do the same on Standard after I beat Lingering Will on baby difficulty.
@gortsi I mean obviously I'd much rather be in here telling everyone how Nintendo will fail, but hey....
Currently on Colossus #13 in Shadow of the Colossus. Picked up Transistor and Song of the Deep on PS Flash Sale... Oops, this is Nintendo Life. Oh, scored a physical copy of rocket league on switch for a cool $17, so I'm sure to fire that up as well. If anyone is interested it's on sale at best buy this week.
@Knighty_IX Amazing games, I'm still praying for a sequel on the Switch, or at least a proper HD collection. Although I'd definitely also shell out for a straight-up VC release. Beautiful and unique games!
Playing Night in the Woods, Stardew Valley and Bayonetta. Was going to start new game plus in Xenoblade 2, but that got delayed.
I did pick up Mercenaries too, but was really let down by it. It feels like Disgaea 5, minus the beautiful animations, memorable characters, excellent music and over fun experience. Basically its Disgaea or FF Tactics, but tries to make up for lack of quality with an overwhelming amount of quantity.
My copy of Bayonetta 2 has just arrived. I’ve never tried either game before, so I’m looking forward to giving them a whirl this weekend - and during my week off work.
Out Run on MAME and a bit of R-Type and Green Beret.
Bayonetta 1 & 2, with little breaks to finish Celeste and dragon ball fighters Z
I finished Fe yesterday at around 6-8pm. I don't quite remember. But I've been back playing again looking for all the collectibles because traversing the environment is incredibly fun! And challenging, even with the upgrades! I've almost gotten the second to last upgrade which is some sort of crystal/lightning thing, but what I'm really looking forward to is the last winged ability. Which I really hope is actual flight. That will be incredibly fun to play around with.
Other than that, its back to Splatoon 2!
The Fall Part 2
Skyrim, Bayonetta, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Things are a bit dry on the Switch front for the foreseeable future so I'm currently playing through South Park, Gears of War 4 and Wolfenstein 2 on the Xbox one X. The latter of which I was waiting for the Switch version but couldn't wait any longer and if by some miracle it actually runs on Switch you'll be in for a treat
Wii Sports Club (Bowling, Golf, Boxing)
FIFA 18 (Switch)
Splatoon 2
DKC:TF
I only just finished the main quest in BOTW yesterday so probably play through the side quests. Also bayonetta came yesterday and i need to go through that at some point.
Owlboy and The Fall part 2 and maybe Shovel knight Shovel of hope.
Thinking about buying Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 again since its on sale on the eShop this weekend.
Splatoon 2 and Tumblestone for me. Was ready to buy Fe but I’m still on the fence and will probably just wait for a sale. I need to be working instead of playing anyway.
Fallout 4
@zool, just wait and see. more games are coming.
Name 3 arriving before May, not including Kirby, which is next 😀
I'm currently trying to finish all side quests and shrine quests in Breath of the Wild before fighting Ganon.
Switch
Bayonetta
Bayonetta 2
PS4
Monster Hunter World
Popped in Bayonetta- just wanted to check it out and see how it looked and get a saved file started... ended up playing all morning. Just can't put it down.
I'm going to have to force myself to only play it when I'm not at home. Otherwise I might never get back to finishing MH. Gosh dang, so many good games to play. It never ends.
Aerofighters II and Odyssey! And Super Turricane Director’s Cut!!
Mercenaries saga for me with a bit of Earth Wars when I need a break.
Lots of traveling this weekend so good opportunity to play some games
@rjejr
I know you like deals, so maybe this will interest you, if you haven't seen it already
$61.99 Green/Pink Joycons
Neon Green/Pink Joycon Set
$61.99 Yellow Joycons
Neon Yellow Joycon Set
@Anti-Matter I have no idea my friend.
I'll have some time to play games this weekend, though my Sunday will be a little hectic. The upcoming week isn't looking much better. XD
I've decided to take a short break from Xenoblade Chronicles X (just finished Chapter 8, for those keeping track at home) in order to play a SNES classic on my Wii U: Donkey Kong Country. I really enjoyed this game as a kid, though I was never able to beat it past the snowy area due to always losing all my lives before getting to the save point there or before I could backtrack using Funky. Now, I fully intend to meet King K. Rool head-on!
On the 3DS front, I'm really hoping to start Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest this weekend. In all honesty I probably should have went the Hoshido route instead (no time right now to play both ), but the classes and characters available on the Nohr side are more appealing to me.
It sucks having to work this weekend, but I wanna get on Bayonetta and Resident Evil on Switch. Monster Hunter World for PS4.
Just Dragon Quest Builders for me, and perhaps Shadow Warrior on Xbox since it is free with Games with Gold this month.
Mercenaries Saga was a lot better than I dared to hope for, really enjoying that game. I also got DQ builders but honestly that got dull really fast, after completing the 1st chapter I dunno if I care enough to return to it.
Lone Wolf for 2 playthroughs, more Ironcast, and some Skyrim. In the vampire questline and it's quite fun. Saving Bayo for next weekend, and scheming on payday 2 for next weekend too.
As in previous weeks: Lego Marvel 2. And hopefully some Yoshi’s Woolly World on Wii U.
ARMS and Pinball
Bayonetta for me this weekend. Also probably more BOTW. And I am pickjng up LoZ ALBW nintendo select this weekend, so I might get at least a start on that.
Celeste and Binding of Isaac. May play Splatoon 2 and The Evil Within 2.
Love the poll btw. Hope you guys keep it.
After playing Fire Emblem Warriors a ton recently, I've decided to actually go back and play Fire Emblem Fates properly. I can't believe that game has been sat in my backlog for over two years now
My rental for Sonic Forces finally came, so I'll run that this weekend. Resident Evil Revelations 2 is currently downloading — It was 30% off so I finally bit down. Hopefully I'll get to kick that off too.
I plan to divide my time between Cave Story + and RE:Revelations
I am continuing my playthrough of "Skyward Sword" with a lot of Instragram pictures, will play a litte bit of "Bayonetta" and maybe some "Splatoon 2".
Just finished Night in the Woods (awesome up until the strange ending)
I’m 2 hours into Dandara and just started Fe! Both are great so far
Celeste, and if I manage to beat that (not using easy mode) I'll treat myself to Fe I guess...
This week I have been mostly playing SNES games on the Super Nt. In fact I just finished Final Fight Guy (I noticed a weird occasional judder in that one, I’m going to play on real hardware in a bit to see if it’s a compatibility issue).
Finishing up Yo-kai watch so I can bust Yo-kai watch watch 2 boney spirit(I've had them both for a little over a year now, lol).
I am also finishing up Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I got the limited edition The longest 5 minutes and I can't wait to dive in!
@JaxonH Thanks, that's pretty good, I'll ask my kids, they have Kirby coming in a month.
So remember my internet question the other day? Well here's how my week went. And I don't care that it's off topic, I'm not playing anything this weekend, I've got stuff to do, like calm the frak down. OK maybe Horizon Zero Dawn. Or Rime. On my PS4.
Called my cable company on Monday, asked the CRS a simple question, yes or no, can I get Optimum 20, the download speed of 20, where I live. He said yes. I said are you sure, b/c people online say some people can't b/c it's for new people only. He said yes, it's available for people in my neighborhood, I don't have to be in a new customer. I can get it.
Tuesday spend 50 minutes online w/ Mel, going over all the price options for TV services, phone, different download speeds. I want 20 for $35 ($25 + $10 modem rental) but he recommends 100 for $75 ($65 + $10 modem rental) or better yet internet, phone and basic cable for $98, or $105 for "Preferred" TV package. Tell him I'll call back Thursday after discussing it with my wife.
Call Thursday. Tell Susan we've decided, against @ThanosRexxx better judgement, to just get the 20 for $25 + $10 modem rental. She isn't pleased but can tell by the copious notes on her screen from Mel she isn't winning me over, so she says ok, Optimum 20 for $35 plus tax. I bring my cable boxes back to their store.
Friday everything is still the same though my WiFi hotspot won't work, I assume b/c I'm between bill changeover.
Saturday morning wake up and no dial tone, so phone is off, check internet download speed Fast.com and Speedtest.com and it's 10Mbps. Not 20, 10, know it's a screw-up, nto static.
Call the company. First guy tells me they changed me to 10. I say yes I know, it's supposed to be 20. He puts me on hold and we disconnect. He actually calls me back - small miracle - and transfers me over to somebody who can change me to 20 b/c he can't. Next guy tells me to hold, disconnect again. I call again, speak to Eva. She tells me I can get 25 for $25 but why not go to 100 for $49? I look at me wife who says it's up to me. I tell Eva 100 is something I want, but I can only afford what we need, so I'll have to stick to the 20 as nice as 100 sounds. She says hold on. She comes back and says I can't get 20, or 25, I can only get 10 or 100. I tell her of all my long phone calls all week long, of checking with everyone about the 20 and they all said ok. I even returned all my equipment on Thursday. She says sorry, 20 is not available in my area, it either has to be 10 or 100. I tell her FIOS (rival) is offering 100 for $40, not $50. She tells me it's the same they are both $40 but both charge $10 for the cable modem rental making it $50. I tell her I have my own modem coming in the mail, she says return theirs and I'll get it for $39.99. Then we get disconnected fraking AGAIN. So I call back, talk to some heavily accented guy who keeps calling me "Mr. Robert". He checks my bill and says I'm signed up for 100 for $40 plus $10 for the modem. He thinks it's a 1 year promotion. I say thanks and hang up, realizing it's Saturday so it's best to wait until Monday to argue w/ other staff about the 20. Check my speed and I am getting 100, so at least that happened.
As my wife said, bait and switch. 3 people told me 20, I asked for 20, they even told me 10 wasn't a thing. I kept asking and asking for 20. They sign me up for 20. Then give me 10 and tell me I can't get 20 I have to get 100. That is so much @#$%$#@. This is why people shoot people, so much this. It isn't about the speed or the money, it's about the constant BS lieing and deceiving. And the companies don't care, guys who make the rules don't have to answer the phones and talk to people, they just make the horrible rules and collect their money, let the CSRs take all the heat. Total f'n BS. A whole fraking week I was lied to on the phone by 3 different people. It wasn't 1 person, that's a mistake, 3 people, that's a company wide bait&switch policy. I'm so.....sigh
So $40 for 100 wont' be bad once my modem comes, due to arrive Thursday, and I may have even happily paid that if it was offered in 1 of the other 3 phone calls where people were leiing to me about being able to get 20. I would have said no to 10, took 100, done. But spending a whole week working on getting 20, the very bottom I'd like for HD TV streaming, only to get 10, that's just too much for me. Maybe I'm a conspiracy nut, but this is too messed up.
Radiant Historia remake on the 3DS.
Monster Hunter world is where it's at for a long while.
Switch will get lots of love with mario, fe, flame in the flood and maybe Celeste waiting for me. We'll see when, as monster Hunter is going to last me a long time across different games.
The moment pikmin hits switch I'm going to be all in, I imagine.
I will be playing Mk8 Deluxe and Pinball FX3. Fe is a must have but since it's single player I am not in a rush.
@Anti-Matter Portal Knights looks so awesome! I might get it
Zelda : Phantom Of The Hourglass on Wii U
Lego Batman 2 on Wii U
The Bridge on Wii U
@rjejr
Preaching to the choir, believe me. I hate Charter, Comcast, AT&T... they're all birds of the same feather.
Glad you got the 100 though. That was my recommendation but, I didn't wanna push it cause I know how you operate and knew that 20 was what you really wanted. But in the end, you came out golden. Especially for downloading games.
Speaking of which, just downloaded Bayonetta 1 and 2. Another 20gb eaten up off the 400gb microSD. I'm down to 107gb free space. And that's after deleting Wonderboy, Shantae, Overcooked (because all have physical releases or will soon have a physical release) and a few games I wasn't into.
But I have that Nyko kickstand that houses a spare SD, with another 400 in there. May split it up so that 1st party AAA games are on the main card along with indies and digital exclusives, and 3rd party games (DOOM, RE Revelations 1/2, Skyrim, LA Noire, DQ Builders, etc etc) is on the spare. Cause there's no way I make this work with 400gb.
Hopefully in a couple years we'll have 1TB microSD cards. 2 of those should do the trick.
Bayonetta 1. First time I'm playing a Bayonetta game, it's so different from anything I've played before & a good time. If I need a break from it I'll be going back to Dragon Quest Builders.
Windows Phone:
Angry Birds Star Wars
Dragon Mania Legends
Game Boy:
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - This game has been waaay better then I thought it would
Gonna squeeze some Pokemon Ultra Sun and Crystal in as well as Planet Robobot. Maybe even some LA Noire
Destiny 1 PS4. My little cousin just got into it so showing him the ropes 😎 And a bit of BattleChasers on PC.
Splatoon 2 for the Splatfest mostly. Beyond that it's more Doom for me. Hoping to finish it in the next few days.
@JaxonH "But in the end, you came out golden."
Well maybe not. I wrote that comment - minus Thanos and the swearing - as a letter and submitted it to both the FCC and BBB. (I get insane when I've been lied to and cheated). I requested to BBB to get me my 20 for $25 back. I know that's stupid and spiteful and I should take the 100 for $40 but I spent a whole week signing up for 20. And after I wrote that comment to you I realized not only did they drop me to 10 instead of 20, but I was still paying for the 20. How many people less smart than I are signing up and paying $25 for the 20 but only getting 10? It's a bait & switch scam. Lieing to me is one thing, but that's stealing from me, sign me up and charge me for 20 but only give me 10. It's stealing.
So I'm guessing between the BBB and FCC contacting them I'm back to 20 for $25, they'll miraculously figure out a way to make it work.
Omg first time playing Bayonetta and I cannot believe what a refreshing game it is even at 8 yrs old or whatever.
I also never thought I’d be so attracted to a video game character that I’ve spent most of the game holding down the left bumper 😂
Omg I’d love to see anti-matter play this game lol he would be throwing holy water over his switch and his own eyes 😂
Main: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (chapter 9)
Indie: Aegis Defenders
Multi: Fifa
It's Bayonetta, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, and Fire Emblem Warriors for me this weekend.
@rjejr
Hey man, I tip my hat. We need people like you who take a stand against these companies. So we stop getting walked on at their leisure. Seriously, good job with the BBB. I might have done the same had I been in your situation.
That's kind of how I felt with GameStop ordering a $150 special edition which was sent in a manilla envelope. Of course it was completely crushed. So I called them up and talked to someone, and of course got disconnected and then had to call back and then explain everything all over again. Told them I am a customer paying $150- you would think they could spring for more than a paper envelope to protect my purchase.
They apologized and assured me that they could send a replacement properly packaged. Instead of taking a refund I agreed to a replacement. Which they refused to send until I sent the one I had back and they received it. Finally two weeks later I get it in the mail... and it's in a paper envelope... again... crushed... again.
I won't get into the specifics, but let's just say I sent a 2 page email to their complaint department and swore to not only never buy from them again, but actively campaign to ensure nobody I am acquainted with does either.
And... I may or may not have told them I'm eagerly awaiting the day they fail spectacularly and go out of business, and become the scorn of the industry.
Luigi's Mansion 2
Enter the Gungeon for me. Rubbish at it but still really enjoying the game!
Just finished Darkside Detective and Bulb Boy, both very enjoyable experiences. I'm not sure what I'm going to play next!
Still working through to 100% Lego Marvel 2 on Switch. I want to get Celeste, Owlboy and Night in the Woods, but think I'll wait till the My.nintendo switch discounts go live!
Probably Furi mostly. I've been wanting some more hack and slash action, and I tried the Implosion demo, but I found it really boring.
@JaxonH Well when GS does go out of business I'll know it's you.
I still shop there, it's in the Target parking lot and I'm there once or twice a week, so I occasionally stop in GS for swag on clearance, got some cool Spider-Gwen coffee mugs for my wife and Pokémon glasses for the boys. But that new Premier tier is annoying. Maybe it's Elite? They advertise 25% off, but fine print says Elite, 10% off for Pro, nothing for the rest of us. In every single ad. I'm sorry, but you're doing it wrong if you need 3 price points and basically screw non-paying rewards customers. I'm OK w/ Pro and GCU and Prime but they took it too far with a 2nd paid tier.
And it wasn't that hard to complain, both FCC and BBB have websites. And my comment to you had to already be pretty clean b/c of NL policies. I don't think much will come of the FCC complaint, they've obviously stopped caring about consumers and they'll just laugh about it if anybody even bothers to read it. The BBB site says they'll contact the business w/in 48 hours. It's a 3 day weekend but I wouldn't be surprised to hear from someone either there or the cable company later in the week. I may even print it out and send it to them if I don't. But I'm also in the middle of doing my own taxes, that wears me out.
Ok, 3:00, time to start my day. You off Monday for Presidents Day? My wife's company is closed but it may be a NYC thing.
@rjejr Not so much my better judgment, but more my personal preference. Being spoiled by the connection speeds that I have, I could never go back to 20 myself, but people gotta do what suits them best.
And that is also more or less what I said to you in my previous comment concerning this topic (in the De Blob article where we were actually discussing this):
"But hey, as long as you're okay with it yourself, then that's the most important, seeing as you're the one that's going to make use of it, not me or anyone else."
DQB, Mercenary Kings, and Lost Sphear.
Radient historia perfect chronology!
Chaos;child on the ps vita. Great game. Will be playing the game for along time.
Batman season 1. On the switch. My best game on the switch so far. Probably finish it sometime this week.
Never played the Bayonetta games before, finally correcting that mistake on Switch by starting the original this weekend.
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove on 3DS... got myself a cheap amiibo and thought I would try it out. But it is tricky...
@rjejr
Negative. Only standard holidays- Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, 2 for Thanksgiving, 2 for Christmas and 2 for New Years... and Good Friday.
@Gamer83
Get ready to add a new 10/10 to your fave list. Bayonetta 2 is one of the best games I played on Wii U. Bayonetta 1 is almost just as good, but it has a lot of QTE that can be annoying, and lock on is with R like the 360 version, whereas Bayo2 uses ZL. That and slightly less smooth difficulty curve than the second game. Still, both are masterpieces imo.
And it looks just as good on the handheld as it did on Wii U.
Still Xenoblade 2...still Xenoblade 2...
Monster Hunter World post endgame and Secret of Mana on PS4. I prefer the original, but will see this one through. I’m unimpressed by the quality. On Nintendo I have Splatoon 2 to revisit for Splatfest, been trying to clock a little more time in Fire Emblem Warriors, and Golf Story stole my heart. Which of these will really get my time? We shall see...
I never managed to find a copy of Bayonetta 1 & 2 on the Wii U so I'm having a blast with those this weekend. If I manage to finish Bayo 1 I'll jump right into Bayo 2.
Intermixed in there I'm also hoping to finish leveling up my Highmountain Tauren in WoW so I can get the heritage gear on my Druid main I race changed. Gotta get those totems on my back!
Have been playing Azure Striker Gunvolt on 3DS and recently completed Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddys Kong Quest on Wii virtual console because it's an awsome game which reminds me of my childhood.
Will probably move onto Metroid 2: Return of Samus next but there's tonnes of other good games I could play. Choices, choices.
Joe Dever's Lone Wolf.
Im literally grown up with the books, and im so excited to play a game based on it.
A couple of hours later... Spectre of Torment is just that - pure torment. But I never want to give up completely, especially after making some progress on a level.
@CorvoRevo so how are you finding what you played so far?
I'll be Splatooning it up and struggling to get better at Rocket League!
Shantae Half-Genie Hero, Stardew Valley and maybe a bit of Splatoon 2 and Xenoblade 2
Why an earth isn't anyone talking about owl boy?
I picked up Star Fox Zero brand new for a fiver a week ago at GameStop (also came with Star Fox Guard), so I think I'll play some of that.
Spent some time playing Worms W.M.D. and Rocket League with my boys......no time lately to game on my own. Maybe in a few years?
PS4 — Secret of Mana
Switch — Bayonetta
For some reason I've been all over Skyforce Reloaded. I don't why but it reminds me of one of my all-time favs- Captain Skyhawk for the NES. Maybe its because Skyhawk was my go to shmup for the NES and Skyforce fills that niche for me for the Switch.
Monster Hunter Stories and SPLATOON 2 BABY!!
Gotta show everyone why team money is superior!
Also xenoblade chronicles 2 when the new update comes.
I never thought that Bayonetta would be my kind of game, but I got it on the 20% off Amazon Prime deal. Boy, was I wrong! What a fantastic game! I already put over six hours into it since I got it yesterday. I am looking forward to trying out Bayonetta 2 as soon as I finish this off. This is easily an 8.5 in my book.
Ok I’m a bit sorry because it has literally been MONTHS since I last turned my XOne on because I was used to dedicate all my nerd time to the Switch with the Zelda Expantion, roguelikes like Has Been Heroes and Enter The Gungeon, DOOM, and Mario Odyssey, but last Tuesday Amazon kindly delivered my Kingdom Come Deliverance Collector’s Edition and it’s taking over my life ever since like a drug.
Damn bloody game.
I don't really have a weekend at all this week(but 1 week vacation starting the 24th).
Switch Dragon Warrior Builders, Fire Emblem, probably some other games for bit.
Actually playing my PS4 again for Monster Hunter World and I got Evil Witin 2 today but that had a bunch of updates so into rest mode my ps4 went.
If I manage to play anything this weekend, it'll be DOOM. I love that game to death and have yet to beat it, so if I have the time it'll be that.
@JaxonH
I'm only at chapter 4 of Bayo 1, but I'm liking what I've played. Seems like this series will fill the void left by DMC and God of War (with it going in a new direction).
Arms!
I'll be doing the daily runs in Binding of Isaac, as always.
But the game I'm really loving the week is Owlboy so I'm excited to dive further into that game.
I've also been slowly working my way through Master Mode on botw and my next task is to go to the castle and take on Ganon so I may do that also - while picking up some more of those Korok seeds along the way.
@savage_celery I hope you enjoy ALBW It's one of my favourite Zelda games. In fact, it may be my favourite.
It hit all the right nostalgic spots for ALTTP while also introducing some awesome new mechanics and characters. Super fun!
@Deathwalka Its not a masterpiece, but if you are a fan of the books like me (or good fantasy in general) you will love it.
persona 5. no more heroes 2.
I own a Switch but will probably be playing my Xbox One S this weekend.
@Deathwalka Bayonetta is insane. I prefer the second one myself though, there is some seriously over the top fights almost from the get go.
I beat the main game of Mario Odyssey last night, that was a LOT of fun, there was a couple of slightly hair pulling platforming levels on the way...the way the HD rumble works in this game is brilliant, you really do feel the game as you play...now the post game begins. I had a little wander but haven't really started it off yet.
Just got Owlboy and finally Mario Kart so I'm certainly investing time into those! Picked up Resident Evil Revelations 2 on sale for like $14 yesterday, so chuck in that too if I can!
Bayonetta 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors. Just got back into warriors and its such a good game.
@WiltonRoots u ain’t kidding!
Can wait to play the second one, unfortunately I’m actually really ill at the moment so it’s taking me a while to get through it as I’ve only just played chapter 2 for 30 mins, but everyone says the second one is the best.
@JaxonH Never heard of any business closing for Good Friday before. Schools here always have. Don't even think it's one of those days companies close early at 1or 3. We have several of those Fridays here, due to people having 2 hour work commutes. Each way.
No MLK Jr Day huh? That's surprising. My wife worked at a company a few years ago that stayed open that day. It was owned by a 90 year old German white guy, we always referred to him as the Nazi. My wife had to leave, place was depressing, everybody who worked there hated it. High turnover. The human resources department never even bothered to ask people why they were leaving and the company never offered people more money to stay, guy was completely out of touch. But when it's your company you can be that way.
No Columbus day either. I suppose that balances out no MLK Jr. day.
Oh well, who really needs a day off from SwitchWorld anyway. 😆

Monster Hunter and Switch. What more could you ask for in life
With how strong the hype for Celeste was just a few weeks ago I'm amazed to see it has already died...I have been considering purchasing it but suddenly nobody in my podcasts are mentioning it and here it looks like none of the Nintendo Life staff are playing
Saints Row 2 on Xbox 360
Shame Saints Row has never come to a Nintendo platform, those games are just so much fun
I love how Splatoon 2 has been out like 9 months yet it still got#3 in the voting. I'm playing a combination of Xenoblade 2 and Splatoon 2 (Xenoblade when I'm alone and Splatoon when my wife and/or kids wants to play with me)
@JaxonH If MHW were on Switch you could sell your PS4. And pretty much everything else you own except the big comfy chair and big tv.
Though I suppose that raises the question, could you play a stripped down MHW on Switch on your TV when you have a Pro and 4k TV? Graphics vs 1 save point home and away. Guess sit's good you don't have to decide.
As for me, playing Horizon Zero Dawn on my normal PS4 on my 1080p TV, well I can't really imagine needing anything more. Not that I'd say no to a 4k TV and Pro, but once the Wow factor is already this high, not sure I need any higher. Zelda BotW looked good enough to me on Wii U, though that is an entirely different aesthetic. I don't think Wii U or Switch could pull off Horizon Zero Dawn level of detail and graphics.
Played HTC Vive last night, game called Hot Spots, Super Hot, something like that, you hit red mannequins. Thought it kinda sucked. Parents weren't happy when I punched the wall pretty hard w/ 1 of those controllers. I'm sticking w/ PSVR, something I can play sitting on the couch w/o having to move around too much. Was going to wait until next Christmas but I've seen the old model on sale for $200 a lot today so may have to pick one up. I think we have 3 full games on PS+.
I've been going through Bayonetta for the first time before delving into it's sequel, and finishing the extremely difficult C-Sides from Celeste. I've also just recently got Axiom Verge and Stardew Valley, so I'll be playing those as well.
Gotta clear through that backlog.
I just got do few weeks back so I'm still playing that one but as soon as I'm done I'm going to play the Bayonetta games
@JaxonH So yeah, just ordered PSVR. Have anything good to tell my wife when she gets back from shopping?
Saw you on PS4 playing MHW so not expecting a reply until t's too late.
@rjejr
Idk, I've kinda lost interest in VR. Too much of a hassle to use. Games are pixelated and the Move controllers suck. Brother got me Occulus Rift, but even that wasn't able to revive my interest. It was a fad for me.
But hey, my brother was into it hard-core for like six straight months. But even he, I think, has kind of moved on from it now
Well, just tried Gwent - The Witcher card game for the first time this weekend...help
@JaxonH Yeah, I'm kinda already regretting my purchase. But sometimes I get caught up in the moment and the zeitgeist and it just feels right.
Playing the Vive last night, we have company coming next weekend to show it off too, my son's friend, who is also big into video games, is spending the night Thursdsy, we have sevrrsl VR games from PS+, we have 2 Move controllers (charging 'em now) from PS3, and my kid has been bugging me since we got a PS4 for the camera for Playroom. So $217 for the headset, camera and GT Sport, which will be traded into GS by Friday for $20 to cover the tax.
It was just one of those things where circumstances converged. So a little regret now, some fun for a few months, then more regret later. My son wants Skyrim, he's into all of that motion stuff, he's really enjoying ARMS, so maybe it will get some long term use. Not a lot, not on a regular basis, but enough.
Having just dropped my cable bill from $150 to $50 will also come up as I explain all that to the Mrs. 😆
Skyrim on the Switch, a little NHL 07 on the PSP.
Bought my first football game (Fifa 18 Switch) since ISS on N64! Is good too!
Since I'm sick with a cold for the first time in over a year, I'm going to focus more on recovering from that than playing games.
Neon Chrome
It's been a busy weekend, but on my downtime here's how I've been nerding it up:
1. OOTP 18 on pc: Tediously recreating the MLB starting in 1871, currently up to year 1874. So far the chanpions have been:
-1871, 1873: Boston Red Stockings
-1872: New York Mutuals
2. Panzer Corps on PC
3. Mercenaries Saga on Switch
Secret of Mana on PS4.
I'm Playing Splatoon 2 and I just got Night in the woods on Switch so I'll probably be playing that too
I just recently started Splatoon 2. I've been going through the story mode. It's good fun
Dragon Quest Builder and Minecraft.
The Fall: Unbound part2
Night in the woods
Dandara and Rocket League
Splatoon 2 is the perrenial go to in our house, my girlfriend loves it and I love playing a series of matches here and there, it’s still super fun. Downloaded Revelations 2 the other day. It’s pretty good, not Resi4 good, but solid. Loading times kill me tho. Also been playing Celeste, I think I’m on the final stage now. Love Celeste - it’s so contemporary and creative.

@Captain_Gonru Yeah, my cable company has been fun fun fun. Not sure wo much further down you read, but I sent a sanitized version of that post to both the FCC and BBB of NY. Then the cable company sent me an email asking me how my experience went. 1000 characters, I wrote about 958 each time. I'm expecting a phone call from them this week to apologize and give me my 20 for $25. Then I'll ask for more. Then I'll jerk them around for awhile and keep the 100 for $40. And my cable is remaining hooked up to my 2 tvs. I was going to hook up an antennae I made - really easy - but they annoyed me too much. My wife says it isn't stealing since their sending it into our house over our cables, if they didn't want us to watch it they'd stop it. Good enough for me.
Monster Hunter World and Mercenary Kings while waiting for Bayonetta 2 to arrive from Gamefly.
I need help. My eshop account is in credit. I am thinking about either WONDER BOY or TOKI TORI 2.
Don't want to waste the credit.
I was thinking DK level of Mario+Rabbids would be announced and downloadable after the Nintendo Direct. No such luck
PayDay 2 as well.
My goal this weekend is to finish LA Noire on Switch.
For some reason, I have found the game more enjoyable than when I first played it years ago on PS3. I don't know if it's because I've grown up or my taste has changed, but I respect the game more now than I did before.
Bit of rocket league, picked it up for switch for £11.30 yesterday!! Worth double dipping for
