R.B.I. Baseball 17 was hardly a home run on Switch, but if you're one of the few people who enjoyed it then you'll be pleased to learn that the next instalment is headed to Nintendo's console, too.
R.B.I. Baseball 18 is due for release in March and will - as you'd expect - feature updated rosters for all of the included teams.
We can only assume that despite the lukewarm reviews, the 2017 edition of R.B.I. Baseball did well enough commercially to justify bringing the sequel along.
It remains to be seen if the game can right the wrongs of its forerunner, but in the meantime, let us know if you'll be adding this one to your collection later in the year by posting a comment below.

After R.B.I. Baseball 2017, I’m not sure I’ll bother.. unless of course, it’s dramatically improved.
Can't be any worse than last years iteration.
Actually, I hope it's better than the last 4 versions! (since this incarnation of the franchise started with RBI Baseball '14)
They must be pretty confident that their loyal customers will repay their service with another sale.
I stick with Wii Sports thanks
RBI 17 was a great game as long as you pay less than $10for it and dont mind it constantly crashing and freezing and sucking.
@sillygostly The funny thing is that RBI is made by the MLB. And I figure that it was made to fill the void that MLB2K left when 2K dropped the MLB license, leaving XBox players in the cold. Since The Show is a Sony exclusive...well, at least RBI is some kind of placeholder baseball game for those who don't have a PS4.
This series makes me wish Nintendo would bring back Mario Baseball.
We really need a new arcade baseball game. The Sony MLB series has never been for me and I miss playing baseball games.
@JayJ : Given the success of Switch, it could very well be on the cards (but no doubt later in its lifespan as there are many other games/IP that deserve attention over a Mario sports game).
@JayJ : Amen brother. I have been pleading here for Hamster to give us Baseball Stars Professional...and I’m still waiting.....
This trailer shows no gameplay, which is concerning. If major upgrades were in store, you’d think the trailer would ahow them off.
I will pick it up if it’s greatly improved from last year‘s edition. If it’s not, RBI Baseball 2017 will last the life of my Nintendo Switch.
Hope is a vast improvement over the last few but I don't think it will be different other then updated rosters and a few tweaks. I'd like a good new baseball game to play........otherwise Ken Griffy Jr Presents MLB on SNES will do
Yup, I'll be sticking with The Show on PS4 ⚾
All the RBI Baseball games have been hot garbage up to this point.
I have had a lot of fun with RBI 17, myself. I probably won't buy 18 unless it has a lot more features that interest me. My team is the Royals, and I don't know what their opening day roster is going to look like yet.
"Will feature updated rosters"
Crickets....
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me...
RBI '17 I got for $5 and it was worth that much... barely. I hope for everyone's sake they'll learn for '18, but I doubt it.
Boy, I nearly didn't buy this game, and that would have been a mistake.
I bought this and NBA 2K, I liked this better.
Why?
The games are fast, with a touch of Sim.
It seems the sport games of today expect you to have hours to play, and they fill the game with so much fluff. Fake interviews, super repetitive commentary, and clunky hard to execute controls that require dozens of hours to become good at.
RBI bucks that trend.
I, for one, and thankful for it.
I just want to play.
I don't have a lot of time to play, so don't waste my time loading a half time report or sideline interview.
I've read all the negative reviews.
I get them.
I see the problems.
I also see that RBI delivers something no other game does.
I appreciate it for that and will preorder 2018 so I can play day one.
Individual mileage will vary.
Polygon had a feature about this today. It looks like MLB developed this game in house compared to outsourcing it like in years past. They've also increased the price from $20 to $30 this year. I'll wait until it goes on sale.

@Noonch Not even sarcastically was it a great game..
@cyrus_zuo Did you get it on Switch? How do you hit the ball?!
Will pickup day one.
@olrodlegacy I've only played it on switch. I honestly didn't have a problem hitting, no more than in games like baseball stars 2.
I put the game in easy, played a couple of games, and settled in.
One of my personal complaints is that home runs are too hard to hit, but that's a different discussion.
@BalloonFighter
Great article. I truly hope it’s a step up for on the previous releases as this suggests it is. The addition of a franchise mode is a big deal as are the real player faces.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE You're being such a pessimist. Of course it can be worse!
@BalloonFighter thanks for sharing the article, I'm really excited now for the release.
Calling the reviews of the 2017 game "lukewarm" is being generous. But it is possible they learned from their mistakes.
@james_squared lol Thankfully it's one of those series I just don't care about. I appreciate that others do and I remember playing Roundes as a kid and a teenager.
Ok, here's an in depth article that gives me some hope for rbi 18 and the future of the series. There's a ton of info here, I highly recommend :

Apologies for resharing the same article...i didnt see that
@NL: Any update on this game? I read that the PS4 and Xbox 1 versions (already released) have many new modes and new player models. Also have historic players (a la NBA Playgrounds). Hoping the Switch version has these. Best Buy says the Switch version has a release date of 4/17, but Gamestop is showing 5/29 . . . . .
