Re: Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow Are Coming To The 3DS Virtual Console on 27th February, 2016

Geonjaha

@iphys - Yeah well we already know that Nintendo is lazy with the Virtual Console. They could add the GBC colour palettes to GB games, but they don't do that because emulating the features of their own 20 year old hardware is too hard. They could also release GBA games on the service but don't because they wan't them to do better on the Wii U, and so make up excuses about not having save states making it not worth it.

Re: This Is How Nintendo's First Smartphone Game Miitomo Will Work

Geonjaha

So first of all, it's limited only to friends, so it's very isolated and kid-friendly, like many of Nintendo's super OTT safety based online experiences.

Then, it's only about asking questions and getting answers with friends. What? Surely its just inferior to a messaging platform then? I think Nintendo's going to quickly realize that its extremely limited approach won't stand up on an established platform. People don't care about Mii's enough to sacrifice functionality, unless they're hardcore fans, in which case they'll buy anything you put out.

EDIT: Just realised that the app asks the questions. If it's anything like Streetpass, we can probably expect deep questions including "Do you like cats or dogs?".

Re: Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Originally Didn't Have a Single Player Mode

Geonjaha

The fact that this actually comes as a surprise to anyone is a bit of a laugh. Triforce Heroes was obviously set up to be a multiplayer game, designed around multiplayer. They added in the single player after all the nagging they probably got from people with no friends who feel the need to be able to play every Zelda game.

TIP: If you don't have anyone to play with, skip the game and look for something else to play. Not everyone has to appeal to everyone, even if it is a franchise you enjoy.

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

Geonjaha

@MoonKnight7 - Pretty sure games like this are designed to be played with friends. Single player and random online is an afterthought because people without people to play with demand to be included. Sometimes its nice to finally have a multiplayer focused game.

Re: 3DS System Update 10.1.0-27 Available Now, Hackers Undaunted

Geonjaha

@Galenmereth - "There are region locking concerns that aren't just about greed; what about the money aspect?"

The irony of your comment...Regardless, the important thing here is that region locking holds no advantages to the consumer. Not having region locking on a console might come with minor inconveniences (and for a large company, an inconvenience is all it is), but every other gaming company is willing to take that little hit for the sake of their consumers. Nintendo isn't. That doesn't quite inspire me to support their products. Up until the 3DS they didn't even need region locking, so pretending Nintendo is some special case is just pulling the wool over your own eyes.

Re: Review: SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson (3DS)

Geonjaha

@AlexOlney - Haha. You realise if you don't say this game is a 9/10 the people who bought it might have to admit they came for the sex appeal, not the (mediocre) gameplay.

cough I mean, yeah. Best fighting game ever. I'm sure everyone plays it for the articles...

@abbyhitter @Iggly - The two reviews were written by two different people, with different opinions.

Re: Review: I Love my Cats (3DS eShop)

Geonjaha

I'm surprised these people bother trying to compete with Nintendogs. Love it or hate it, it's simply the top of its niche genre. Apparently the people who buy these titles are either uninformed or really just desperate for more.

Re: Hands On: Here's What The 3DS Version Of Terraria Looks Like

Geonjaha

It's not a game I would really compare to Minecraft much. They are very different, and each have their own strengths/flaws. Since both are amazing I would always recommend that people try out both.

With that said, I do love Terraria, and I'm currently playing through the 1.3 patch on PC. I can't honestly see any reason to really get the 3DS or Wii U versions at this point. I was thinking the 3DS one for some portability, but if it ends up being considerably inferior to the PC version I'd probably not be able to look past that while playing it.

@Spectra_Twilight - Unfortunately, policies like that ensure people skip Nintendo consoles for being 'kiddy'. Preventing a game from having online capabilities at all because some kind of age system can't be implemented? It's pathetic, and I hate to see it holding back good games on the platform.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX

Geonjaha

I'll add it to the list.

Games I'd buy if Square Enix got their act together (and localised them):

  • Dragon Quest VII (3DS)
  • Dragon Quest VIII (3DS)
  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland (3DS)
  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Cobi/Tara's Adventure (3DS)
  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 (3DS)
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 2 (3DS)
  • Theatrhythm Dragon Quest
  • Dragon Quest XI

It's looking more impressive every day

Re: Review: LEGO Jurassic World (3DS)

Geonjaha

It's a big shame, especially because we've seen the potential LEGO actually has with its games through LEGO Worlds (Which is very promising despite only being in Early Access).

Re: Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Announced for 3DS in Japan

Geonjaha

I'll add it to the list of good games that we won't be getting from Dragon Quest.

If anyone is interested; the Dragon Quest Monsters spinoff is based on the monster recruitment and battling from Dragon Quest V (Which came about before the first Pokemon game in case you're shouting "Pokemon ripoff!").

The Joker games (1 and 2) came out here for the DS (at least the standard versions did), and I'd recommend buying the second one over the first, as it basically improves upon it in every way.
