Oh god no. The whole point of early access on PC is that you can tweak files and use mods most of the time. Having it on consoles is just an utter rip off and even more of a blatant excuse to sell unfinished games.
Look, I'll buy it if it costs less than £15, or has download play for multiplayer. For me, buying three £30 copies of a game to play this with others is not going to happen. I am looking forward to playing it though, so here's hoping.
For all of those thinking 'They're probably just not translating it because it has too much text, so that makes sense' - While that is what they stated...
Dragon Quest VIII got an iOS release, and already has a translation, so it would be easy to get that into the 3DS version, yet still they aren't localising that.
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 2 (3DS) has relatively little text, and that didn't get translated.
Theatrhythm Dragon Quest has even less text and even that didn't get localised.
Any of these games could have an eShop only release over here to reduce risk, but still Square Enix do nothing.
It's quite depressing that it took this long to make another game that even comes close to the original masterpiece. It's good that they did though. Strangely, they neglect to mention Touch & Go and Universal Gravitation, but I suppose those are spin-offs.
I enjoyed playing Steamworld Dig a lot, so I'll be keeping my eye on reviews of this title when it comes out, and if I get it, this time it'll be on the 3DS.
Yeah, this looks cool, but there's no way I'm spending more than £12 on it, especially if everyone needs to own a copy to play. If it ends up being a fully-priced retail game then its a definite skip from me.
"out of stock and rarer than an original idea in a Call of Duty game."
Now I know you're only pandering to your audience of those that hate everything that isn't on their Wii U, but its really funny to hear this from a Nintendo fan site, as if Nintendo really comes up with original ideas for their 5+ franchises they have yearly iterations of.
@SuperWiiU - Or a localisation of the other 3DS DQ titles. It annoys me greatly that out of the last eight DQ titles to be released in Japan, we're only getting one localised, and it's the only one that isn't available on the 3DS... -.-
I can always trust that when I read about this kind of stuff on Nintendolife as opposed to the rest of the web, there will be dozens of fanboys trying to defend another horrible practice, as opposed to realizing that even their favourite company makes mistakes, and loyalty to them is just a stupid thing to have as a consumer.
Just don't make it fully 3D...a sidescroller please!
@TwilightAngel - I dont understand. Are you saying people should stop asking for things because they're not getting them? Seems a little counter-intuitive. Expecting it, yes, but asking for it? Why wouldn't you?
@Retro_on_theGo - If this sells well it would show that people are actually interested in buying re-releases of old games with new features, making your argument redundant.
Looks pretty cool. I'd probably buy it, but I already own most of those Mega Man games on my 3DS from the Virtual Console. Might get it on Steam with an inevitable sale instead.
@callmeking17 - Lol. The irony of you saying this on a Nintendo fan site.
You seem to be taking this very personally. Me not purchasing a game /=/ outrage. Despite what you choose to believe, I don't look for reasons to hate games, that wouldn't be doing me any favours.
You also don't seem to understand the problem that I and many others have with this kind of content. It's not that it wasn't developed seperately, it's that for a retail game that is at full price (£40/$60) you should be getting ALL the content that is available at launch. If I wanted to have all this game had to offer I'd have to pay considerably extra just to buy some rare toys. Content that affects the game is another issue, especially in a multiplayer game.
I explain this because you don't seem to understand my stance on the matter. Now if what you say is true, and this content is in fact all fully cosmetic, then I have no problem with the game, but I hope you now understand why I oppose the concept. If not, then that's fine, each consumer makes their own choice about where they draw the line.
@BinaryFragger - Thank you. Too often I get the feeling that everyone here is just used to it and doesn't realise how biased they're being.
@JaxonH - The fallacy that just because it isn't the worst offender in the industry I should ignore it is not one I choose to follow. Locking any content that affects the game behind a paywall on day 1 for a full priced £40 retail game is not a practice I will be supporting. If Nintendo does continue this trend of locking more and more non-cosmetic content behind a paywall on day 1 then I won't be buying it. I choose to support games that don't include this practice, and stand by that principle - as I said before, I'm sure splatoon is a great game, but that's not the point of a boycott, and there will always be more games I can buy instead, from Nintendo or from other companies that don't cut up their game on launch just to support their toy sales.
I understand that Amiibo are supposed to unlock content in games, but as soon as that content stops being cosmetic and starts affecting the game, it gets no support from me. I have a bad feeling that this WILL get worse as time goes on, and I'm hoping this doesn't end up being the reason I stop playing Nintendo games.
@Chaoz - I won't be buying any Amiibo's, but I'm also not going to buy any game that takes content away from launch to sell as toy-DLC. I dont want to support that practice. I'm looking forward to playing Yoshi's Wooly World though, and the Amiibo functionality there is fully cosmetic iirc. As long as they stick to cosmetic stuff it wont be an issue to me. If they dont, I choose to vote with my wallet; there are always more games to be played anyway.
@IronMan28 - Yup. It's true for many other companies as well. It just ends up being more pronounced for bigger titles, and with Minecraft only being absent on Nintendo consoles, we unfortunately see it whenever it's mentioned here.
@rjejr - It's not that it's bad, it's that a lot of the Nintendo fans here are angry that Minecraft isn't on Wii U, and so they do the only thing they know to do when they cant get something; pretend it's bad and that they didn't want it in the first place.
I think I'd rather play the free Minecraft map (not even a mod, even less hassle! ) than pay £40 for the game that locks Day 1 DLC behind toys, personally.
@capnstubing - It's a free map. Microsoft wouldn't be able to do anything about it, because once its out there people can get it so easily.
Over expensive toys I don't have a problem with. Cosmetic DLC tied to toys I don't have a problem with. Locking actual content behind these things is as bad as Day 1 DLC, and I do not support that. Splatoon was ridiculous - locking single player content behind toys on release is just not acceptable, and I will not be buying any Nintendo game that locks content behind an Amiibo.
@Jaz007 - I'd rather not see that option; it'd open my eyes to how many people on this site don't care about that stuff as long as it's from Nintendo.
I mean seriously, Day 1 DLC is one of the most abhorrent practices in the industry, and somehow when Nintendo does it everyone's biggest complaint is not being able to buy the thing because of dwindling stocks.
Praising a single person in the industry to the point where one assumes that the fate of a successful franchise rests solely on them. When they come asking for money from you to start a game; Peter Molyneux, Tim Schafer, Keiji Inafune, maybe next time you'll think twice about it.
@akaDv8R - You're implying that they couldn't release it all at once without it being broken, this is an assumption that is not correct. Also, just because other games have worse business practices doesn't mean this one doesn't still have them. Here's hoping for a world where game released don't just aim to be 'the least bad' of the bunch.
Just goes to show you can put a positive spin on any negative business practice or decision. Not giving people all the content at once so they can 'appreciate each little bit more'? No. It's because it wasn't all ready in time, and instead of delaying the title, they released it incomplete.
@BlatantlyHeroic - I love LEGO. I bought this game as soon as I saw it was being put out. It's extremely promising and could eventually be better than minecraft, but anyone who thinks it is right now is just out of their mind.
I'm sure people over at BZPower are very happy about this, but LEGO fanboys over hyping an unfinished product when we dont know how far it will go doesnt make it better than Minecraft automatically. I hope it will be better than Minecraft - improvement is always great, but after playing the game for a while now I can tell you it has a long way to go.
@MasterWario - they're people that haven't played minecraft or never played it with friends, and now are ready to automatically call this better without having even played it.
@Platypus101 - It can be stated hundreds of times, it doesn't make it less true. I also don't go through previous comment sections to make sure what I'm saying hasn't been brought up previously.
It's sort of weird that this much attention and praise is going towards Nintendo for this happening. It's a good step forward I know, but for any PC gamer a Humble Bundle is just a weekly occurrence. @luke88 - No, you probably wont need to worry about that most of the time. If you are in a situation where you're trying to get somewhere very quickly (maybe to escape an enemy) then you could just use your right hand, because all you need to do is essentially draw a line.

@bitleman - Haha, exactly. Games where translations would be extremely easy (Threatryhmn Dragon Quest) or already exist (Dragon Quest VIII) don't get released here in the West, not even an eShop only release, but somehow a spinoff on a much worse selling platform is fair game.
Not to mention they somehow thought Bravely Default did well enough to localise the sequels, despite it selling less than every Dragon Quest game to date.
@Peach64 - Every Dragon Quest games sells really well in Japan, the point is that out of eight possible games to localise, they only pick the one that is on the least popular and purchased platform, despite claiming sales are a problem.
That makes six 3DS Dragon Quest games that I'd love to play that aren't getting localised. Square Enix is getting better at this torture stuff, and worse at making good decisions by the day.
@No-longer-postin - Dragon Quest 8 is generally considered one of the best in the main series by most, only behind 5 and maybe 3. It has enemies shown on the main map as in 9, not random encounters.
Region Locking is an issue to many gamers. If it's a 'non-issue' then why doesn't Nintendo just drop it? Oh maybe it helps them with ratings, or....something!
No. They were fine up until the DS came along, and their biggest two competitors manage to get by without it. It's an outdated practice, and one that needs to go away.
@Zyph - So basically it's a good system because it gives consumers nothing as opposed to an option to import it, enough so that people have to complain in droves that they cant play certain games. Yeah, that doesn't sound like a good thing.
@erborlongan - Do you have some statistics to back that up? As someone who's currently waiting for about 6 games to be localised to Nintendo platforms, more than before region locking came about, I don't think that's true at all.
@Azooooz - Games are localised for every platform except Nintendo's, which also happen to be region free. This fallacy that games only get localised because a console is region locked needs to stop.
Great news, but this should be a standard in the gaming industry, not something that is hailed as unique and occasional. Unfortunately console games tend to have these options a lot less frequently.
@Yorumi - I know right? What the hell is Pokémon doing in there? It just ripped off all its ideas from better franchises like SMT and DQ that came before it, it just built on what already existed and became popular but no mention of the games that put those genres on the map and essentially paved the way for those games?
Have they actually confirmed that they will be selling both versions of the game seperately over here in the West? Are they being scummy, like the Pokémon franchise?
Also, having one half of the game be considerably more different and aimed at a different group of fans basically negates any choice the player might have had. I thought the point of the storyline was to choose a side based on what you personally believed in or preferred, not to have it chosen for you based on how you like to enjoy the Fire Emblem series. Terrible design choice imo.

Re: Nintendo Classics in the Running for Inaugural World Video Game Hall of Fame Honour
@Yorumi - I know right? What the hell is Pokémon doing in there? It just ripped off all its ideas from better franchises like SMT and DQ that came before it, it just built on what already existed and became popular but no mention of the games that put those genres on the map and essentially paved the way for those games?
Re: Fire Emblem's Two Versions Will Offer Very Different Challenges
Have they actually confirmed that they will be selling both versions of the game seperately over here in the West? Are they being scummy, like the Pokémon franchise?
Also, having one half of the game be considerably more different and aimed at a different group of fans basically negates any choice the player might have had. I thought the point of the storyline was to choose a side based on what you personally believed in or preferred, not to have it chosen for you based on how you like to enjoy the Fire Emblem series. Terrible design choice imo.
