Re: Interview: Takashi Tezuka on Bringing Yoshi's New Island to the 3DS

Geonjaha

I played the original game on the GBA all those years ago, and it remains one of my favourite games of all time. This however, doesn't interest me in the slightest at the moment. The art style somehow looks worse than the 20 year old original, the gameplay has been made easier, and all the new 'features' look pretty dull. Even the music in the trailer just sounded like a more depressing, parodied version of the original, which to be fair seems quite fitting given Nintendo's current stance on making sequels. To be honest right now I wouldn't be surprised if this version ended up being worse than the DS version (at least that one tried new things that weren't just big eggs).

Re: Game Boy Advance Titles To Hit Wii U Virtual Console From April Onwards

Geonjaha

Nintendo, what a ridiculous idea. No one is going to buy a Wii U for paid GBA game emulation, and as a large majority of the comments here show - people would much rather have them on the 3DS, where they belong. I, like many others here wont be buying any GBA games on my Wii U. When they bring them to 3DS give me a call.

It's bad enough that they charge such large amounts for the VC without even being able to share games across the two platforms (you know - a feature that might actually make people more interested in the Wii U?), but not putting the handheld games on the handheld VC is just ridiculous. But Hey!, at least we're getting all those NES games right? Right?

Re: Yoshi's New Island Hatches in Europe on 14th March

Geonjaha

Art style still looks worse than the SNES version, a game that came out almost 20 years ago. Quite depressing really. Nonetheless if the gameplay actually holds up (Unlike the DS game) then I might get it once I run out of things to play on the 3DS.

Re: Matters Of Import: A Peek Into The Tragically Unobtainable World Of Dragon Quest X

Geonjaha

@originaljohn - People were begging for Earthbound for 8 years. What makes you think fans asking for it over and over was the cause of release? The fact that it took 8 years and wasn't changed shows that the fans made little diference to its release. Also, this is Square Enix, not Nintendo. They've left DQ games unlocalised in the past, and they'll continue to do it in the future.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About Nintendo in 2013 - 3DS

Geonjaha

I have to say I agree with a lot of what has been said. Awakening was my game of the year, I lost interest in Dark Moon after the second Mansion, and I'm unfortunately not playing New Leaf anymore. I also didn't buy Pokemon because of the franchises reluctance to ever evolve in a meaningful way (Heh, see what I did there?...I'll let myself out)

Re: Reggie Declares The Year of Luigi Will Continue Into 2014

Geonjaha

In years to come, Nintendo fans will look back on The Year of Luigi and remember that it was only named so because Nintendo was releasing one game and one DLC based on the character, and remember why they therefore never looked forward to any other themed years from Nintendo.

Re: Fire Emblem: Awakening and ZombiU Developers Outline the Challenges of Permadeath

Geonjaha

No. I love games using permadeath. It raises the stakes and the tension which just makes the experience so much more enjoyable and engaging, and that's part of the reason Fire Emblem: Awakening is now one of my favourite games (especially considering it uses permadeath in the best way; not just making you start over from the beginning).

It's also the reason why I'd never reset the game after any mistake. Honestly, if you're someone who resets the game when you lose someone you like you obviously dont understand the concept of permadeath, and you might as well play Newcomer to save yourself the resetting time.
