Re: Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen

Geit_de

@Jonnybaz I played the PS5 Hogwarts version for 1 Euro last year, as I found it on the flea market.

Physical rocks!

Even with those sales they cannot sell me a Switch 2. There is currently no reason for me to buy a Switch 2. Well, beside Dinkum, which has some major Frame issues on my old switch. Dinkum is the AnimalCrossing we ever wanted. Explorations, mines and the evolution of features.

Re: Digital Foundry Covers The "Disappointing Tech" In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

@Clammy Nothing like that. I did not even look the DF video. I just saw the trailer and build my on opinion.

I don´t let others dictate what I think is good or not. I saw the available videos and it is not even close to a modern game. Where did all the cpu and GFX power disappear. This looks like a 10 year old Pokemon game. In fact like all Pokemon games before, which BTW are working better on Switch2 than ever.

How can it be that complex RPGs have cool cities and nature sites, while Pokemon is so dull.

Just take the Xenoblade version from the Wii. Yes, the Wii! It has a lower resolution, but the world is filled with life. NPCs, enemies, nature, stunning waterfalls, dense forests and awesome villages. Now 20 years later Pokemon games look worse than that, just in an higher resolution. Where is the progress? There is none, because it is Pokemon. It sells and it does not even matter how old the game technique looks like on a modern machine.

The 2D Pokemon isometric conversions looked and felled ok. Just like the Zelda Diorama versions, but these "modern 3D Pokemon worlds" are just embarrassing. Especially on modern and up to date hardware as a new product in 2025.

Textures of buildings with 16 or more windows, which all look the same and you turn around just to see the same windows on a different building. The entire city is boring, empty and it looks dull.

Now look at Xenoblade, or basically any other RPG. They come with a huge filled and rich world. There is also fighting, NPCs and enemy´s. It is possible even on Switch 1. There is no excuse.

NPCs vanish and appear within a very short distance and there is no voice audio.

Why? Because it is Pokemon and it sells itself anyway.

Stop buying this. That is the only way to make them change anything.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Receives Its First Update (Version 1.0.1)

Geit_de

@Runex2121 Because they have the display a home and don´t see a point in throwing it away just to buy a new one.

Would you dump your three year old petrol car, just because there is a new electric version of it? This isn´t even a proper example, because many people would to depending on home charging and mileage.

And no. I am for sure not very young. I am probably much older than you.

Re: Magnetic Joy-Con Sticks Already In The Works For Switch 2 Amid Fears Of Drift

Geit_de

@bstie1198 It is not about "if". It is just about "when" stick drift will appear.

Nintendo used the same old crap in ProController and JoyCons. The only thing they changes is the dust protection. This may delay drift a little, but as long as the prongs within the controllers are rubbing on the contacts, the dust will be created internally and this dust won´t get out. Dust causes more abrasive action causing more dust and boom drift.

I assume it will be faster appearing on Switch. Mainly because the old JoyCons and ProController are compatible. This results in the use of the original Switch2 controllers in non multiplayer sessions. The more controllers are used the harder stick drift will hit.

On Switch 1 people bought a second or third pair of JoyCons. This caused splitting the game time between all of them. -> It took longer until stick drift appeared.

Re: Magnetic Joy-Con Sticks Already In The Works For Switch 2 Amid Fears Of Drift

Geit_de

The new ones will break, as well as the old ones. The contacts are smaller, which of course causes less rubbing on the graphite tracks but there is also less contact area. In my opinion this will break as fast as the old ones.

I heard the hurray about the pro controller using alps branded sticks. It in general has bigger contacts and will last longer. The alps factor may add also a few years, but ALL controllers using metal on graphite "technology"
will break at some point of use.

In total I expect even more stick drive on switch 2, as the old ones are backward compatible, so people won´t buy a ton of them. On the other side they will mostly use the new ones and the result will be drifting.

I replaced all my sticks in Nintendo Switch ProController, JoyCons, PS5 DualSense controllers and I don´t want back. The feel is so much better. Especially the JoyCons are more precise to use.

@Simu001 The covers are useless. The sticks are boxed anyway inside the JoyCon. Degrading increases due to graphite getting loose from the rubbing tracks. This dust is increasing the issue as the metal prongs are now also rubbing the dust and using it like sandpaper.

Re: GameStop To Offer Additional Switch 2 Units In-Store And Online At Launch

Geit_de

At switch 1 launch some people pre ordered at the local game shop, too. It was fun to see. "Yes, you preordered. Yes, you paid. But we are already out of stock." Saying that people where pissed is an understatement.

Gamestop is sold second hand games around 2 Euro lower than new games in the Mediamarkt basically downstairs.

Now they are closed. I wonder why?

Re: Former Assassin's Creed Lead Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Game-Key Cards

Geit_de

@Medic_alert

The game cards are NOT FLASH! That would be terrible. Those are ROM or WORM Chips.

Flash is loosing content over time when not powered on. Thats why SSDs are not suitable as a long term backup drive in storage. Flash memory also not only dies slowly when writing, it also dies (just much slower), when just reading from it. So a game card would even destroy itself when used long enough. Your precious game boy cards would be toast already, if they were flash.

Re: Exclusive: Shin'en Talks 'Fast Fusion' On Switch 2, Reveals First-Look Trailer

Geit_de

The WiiU Version was good. The Switch version simply had no online gaming. It is all fake. Just set up four switch with four games and play. Let everyone say the current position and when they overtake. It will not match. The entire first round everyone is #1. You also feel collisions and do not see the overtakes right after. It is all fake.

The WiiU Version worked fine in that remark. The Switch version was just a single player experience, where the real winner was gambled out at the end.

So i would skip this one, until someone confirms the network stuff is legit.

Re: Roguelike Racing Revs Onto Switch In "Oregon Trail Meets The Dakar Rally"

Geit_de

"Retro inspired visuals" and I am out of the door.

It is just a cheap trick to save time and money. Just one tree to draw, just one of everything. I was there in the 80th playing 8 bit games. I know how that looks. It makes sense for actual remakes, but not for new games which have no reason to have outdated graphics. If I would make a bigger game I would probably have done the same. Why? Because I cannot paint.

Re: Poll: Did You Get A Switch 2 Purchase Invite From Nintendo Yet? (Europe)

Geit_de

I got an invite shortly after the direct and deleted it. Yesterday I got a second notification that I can pre order now.

Not a chance I fall for that. I bought two switch 1 on day 1 and will buy zero switch 2 at day1 and probably even year 1 due to the pricing.

Paying that much stuff I never use for that intense pricing is pulling me off. I don´t need a display, I don't need a dock and I don´t need the entire mobile ***** like JoyCons and Batter. Give me a reasonable priced console block HDMI and other connectors for TV use only and I would bu, but not this and not now.
