So Nintendo combined the worst of both world. You need to download the game and still need to insert a module to unlock the download. Reselling not possible. Great job Nintendo. You are making it worst with every new information.
They should sell a cut down version. No screen, no battery, no dock.
Just a block with power and network connector, slots for SD, gamecard along with a ProController. 25% of all switch1 never left the dock anyway. This could be 50% cheaper.
After the non switchable "Lite" I waited for that. Never happened. Why should I pay for all that expensive crap I never use once again?
Guess I will skip the Switch2. I would rather buy a second PS5 and save some money. Game prices up, payed updates for SW1 games and the entire overpriced online enhancement stuff was already a pain in the ass.
This is hopefully just the trump tax and Europe has lower prices. If not. Game over for me.
They probably do the same mistake as with the switch1.
They have a "switch"-able version and the lite. I need a version without a dock, without a desk. Just a simple box with USB, LAN, HDMI and a ProController. No Joycons, no Display, no Dock. This could be a very cheap console, which many people would buy. None of my Friends is carriing around their switch. It is docked 24/7.
I already have a proper display and the switch one is unused for 7+ years now.
The switch was 330 Euro and compared to it there is no reason it should be more expensive (beside inflation).
There is simply nothing that would explain a bigger price. It is the same situation as in 2017. Yes, the CPU/GPU is faster, but still years old. As it was back then. The display is a little bigger, but display prices are lower than 2017. Same for memory.
So I expect 330-350 and not more. $400 would be a real bummer as you can get a PS5 for that.
It seems noone noticed that the speakers are now at the bottom of the switch.
Mostly the "holes" are acclaimed to be for ventilation, but they are for sure also used as speaker openings.
Where is the light sensor located? Is there any?
It is fun that so many people still think the "third" button on the back of the switch is another trigger. The original switch has its release button at the exact same position. The new one is just more prominent as force needs to be generated by the lever.
I am worried about the joycon connection. Those pins look highly exposed. If you can touch them, you may introduce static electricity into the connector and blow up the entire system.
Being on socks, while using the console in table mode in a room with carpet seems to be a very bad idea.
@WheresWaveRace The docking rim is quite chunky. So it is not like breaking a chocolate bar. It is pulling sideways, which is 90° angled compared to any button press.
You can compare it like USB-C, which is not friction fit, but held in by a magnet (magsafe++).
I saved 600+ Euro during the lifetime of the Switch just due to getting games second hand or far cheaper than at the eshop. I never paid more than 30 Euros for a PS5 title. Even GT7 and Horizon 2 I got for 20 Euro each two month after release. The 100 Euro the drive cost where regained quite quick.
It just means that the dock has usb ports, which need to deliver power to charge stuff without blowing the power supply. We are talking about at least 2 USB ports. If one port has power delivery this alone can require 20W or even more depending on the requirements.
USB-C power delivery can even handle more than 100W! Devices discuss this with the charger before enabling power and voltage modes. One reason the Switch1 charging explodes when used with the wrong charger is a faulty implementation in this department.
Even if it is just a normal USB port 5W per port are required to handle basic controller/peripheral charging.
If the dock has network, the chip needs power, too.
So 3 times USB plus network and HDMI hardware is easy resulting in a 20W power consumption.
I was enjoying the game at first. Later on the jitter and stutter in the overworld became more and more annoying.
In addition to that I hated the music. Not all of it, but most of the tunes are just very short and simple jingles. The most annoying ones are int he swamp dungeon. So high pitches flute like short ear piercing and repetitive track that I tune the volume to zero and played the game in silence. Yes, I know that most tracks are "iconic", but this is just terrible.
Since even in 2024 Nintendo avoids voice acting, I had no loss in game play.
@Jiggies Did just read the fixed issues. So you buy the game retail and it is a remaster, which needs an update as it has issues in the progress department?
Sorry, a remaster with such basic errors? Did anyone test this?
Considered buying the game, but if the game is not future prove, I am out. I usually find the lucky situations where you cannot continue and need to play from the beginning. Had that, don't want that again.
"One, two, Switch" had the same stupid limit, where you only had 7 games until you played each game a couple of times, even so you don't like them.
Dice skins or characters are fine. Those do not limit the over all gaming experience. Suppressing boards is very bad.
The AnimalCrossing board game also was great. Most people where turned of by it, because several key features where absent by default. You had to play several games to unlock stuff and get a choice.
ESPECIALLY, when you take just your game to a friend and then notice there is suddenly only one board to select from and not the one you favor.
I start to hate it. You have around 100 Echos and need some for puzzle solving. So you try and the entire game becomes a search and select game. It is so annoying. Why they don't group them. I don´t need three beds and the same amount of pottery. I also usually want the strongest enemy and not the one I find first.
The music is also just a jingle fest. Yes I know those tunes are iconic, but those "tunes" are also just ten seconds long loops. I started to turn audio off and started an audio book.
Why shoudnt they announce the Switch2 within the next weeks? They did the same with the Switch and the sales won't be that high anyway due to the mass of switches out there and the lack of good games to be released for the old system.
If they announce backwards compatibility they don't even loose games sales as they can be taken over to the next generation.
I stopped buying Mario Jump and Runs. Beside Mario Odysee, which I played through.
Especially 3D World dropped me off the train. I buy a game and in World 4 the game is over, because it gets to hard. Yes, I know they added figures to easier get along, but I lost the fun in these games years ago.
Mario Kart, Xenoblade, Pikmin where the games for me, but one look at Mario Wonder and I knew not to buy it. I want to casually game and these games are all about pixel perfect timing, which I don't want anymore.
Same as the RPG section of Mario games. I hated Mario RPG for this jump and run section, no one was talking about. I bought a RPG and not a game with isometric (the worst) jump and run levels. Yes you can skip them, but you also need this stupid quiz then, which you cannot cheat around as it is timer based, has three sections and no checkpoints inbetween. I hated it. So no more RPG from Mario for me, too. I almost bough the thousand year door one, but then I saw a video with all the annoying squeaky text bubbles. It is 2024 Nintendo. Time to invest into some voice actors as the hardware limitations are no longer there.
The controller was made for cable usage. So the hardware is not designed to be power efficient. In the end this is Nintendos "fault" and not 8BitDo´s. I guess they added the biggest battery suitable and fitting to get this amount of battery life.
No the main reason is that we pay for a service and in the end play P2P while others have dedicated servers. If one player has a bad connection, do to players still thinking Wifi is a stable connection, the entire P2P process falls apart and other players get disconnected. We had that several times, when one/two players of our 4 player team in the same room (physical room) got disconnected, because one player of the opponent team lost connection. I never understud, why nintendo is not grouping LAN and Wifi players in separate groups, so wifi player can frustrate themselfs.
Nintendo Online Service is just a "Match making server" in that regard. 8 player pay for NOS, while one is ruining the stuff for every one.
To bad the game balance is so off. Just check the recent game updates.
It is always increased range, increased radius, decreased ink refill, reduced ink usage, increased fire rate, increased in tank,...
As if the only way is pumping up the under powered weapons, just to do the same for the rest with the next update.
This game is far from fun. Especially stuff like this Tri-Zooka (??). You jump on an enemy, he pushes a button and you are dead. No chance of escaping. There are so many third weapons, where you simply cannot escape unless you are already in motion and the direction is right. If not you are dead.
And of course all the dual kills, where two players fighting results in two dead players. This even makes fair fights useless and no fun, when in the end always both players are dead.
Last Splatfest we were four people in the room (physical gaming room, everyone playing docked using a LAN connection) and every 1-5 seconds someone called out loud "double kill", when players killed each other simultaneous.
Games should be tested more in this regard to visualize how bad this is. This way we for example discovered that "FAST RMX" online mode on switch is just broken. Within the first round EVERYONE is at first place. A player is overtaking another and bumping into his opponent. He feels the collision, but did not get overtaken as there was no other ship visible. If you have the other players in the same room it feels like a dice is used to see who won. The WiiU version worked fine in that regard and the same setup (4 WiiU in one room, LAN gameplay)
These bubbles and especially the squeaky sound of each word prevented me from buying the game. It is 2024. They made a remake and failed. At least an option to disable bubble sound would have been nice, but in 2024 I would have expected better.
If COD is an Unreal-Engine game it get probably scaled down to just be playable. The download size will probably gigantic and the module size minimal to optimize earnings.
I fixed my 4 JoyCons, 2 pro controllers and my two PS5 controllers.
Now I don't have to worry about stick drift anymore. This repair "offer" is a scam. They swap broken by design sticks by inserting new broken by design sticks and the pro controller AFAIK is not even included in that so called "repair" program.
Why not? It is not in front of the screen, where it could cause decoloring, but with e.g. OLED this would be no issue. The only issue I see is that the connector could be used as an excuse to not use Hall-Effect sticks.
I recently updated all my switch and ps5 controllers to hall effect versions and I don't want to be back. Especially the JoyCon allow so much more precise movement compared to ***** rubbing resistor plates.
Weak? All they do is increasing the radius of impact and reducing the amount of ink needed.
Just check the last three updates.
No wonder those specials are instant death and there is no escape. Especially if the weapons you like only have passive ***** like the "juice dispencer" (retranslated) or shield wall.
I swapped from sniper to bucket class because of this, because I just want a grenade and tornadoes or stuff as second and third weapon. Currently you get a shield wall and this strange gun, where you have to suck enemy ink and are dead, because once activated you are a non moving target for about 10 seconds and abort is not possible.
Unfortunately it is full of bugs and the amount of resources required for better equipment are insane.
Obsidian and copper are required massively and to gather them you need more resources. Especially when getting attacked. Pickaxes and weapons break so quick and even with potions to "enhance" them they break so fast.
On top of that for example the grabler which is nice to move in caves only has 9 charges. When exploring you need multiple tools of every kind or you are lost within a cave, die and need to return to gather your stuff, which is even more insane as you need to build weapons.
The glider fails to open every now and then on PS5. You pick up your bag and cannot select a weapon. You spawn within the floor or machine, when loading. You pick up the shield and when you need it, it is not working until you drop and take it again. And so on. Fortnite Quality.
The idea and the game is fun, but the balancing and the bugs are a bummer. The best bug was the chest bug to repair tools, but it got fixed.
Also the spawn rate of copper, marmot, obsidian and so on are far to low. Also the content is rather limited. Once you got the highest village level (10 hours or so) and build all the stuff just building houses is left and that is not enough. The game just gets boring.
Mario RPG, when it turned into a Quiz/Puzzle/Jump&Run without any reason. Unfortunately there are no checkpoint and no save points and even stupid lives, so you have to do this section all at once.
I gave up at that point and put the game into storage.
They quadrupled the content and - from Experience - they also quadrupled the bugs and also the time to "fix" bugs.
It sometimes was harder to win against the game, than against the enemies due to bugs.
In OG you could drive with a golf cart into a resurrection truck and you lost because you were stuck under the map. Using shopping carts once made them a potential trap. Everyone touching them got a collision hit. And so on. All this brought memories back where you mount a hover board and it exploded randomly or you entered a car and you and the car respawned at the location the car was at game start. Usually both killed you.
Looking forward to get killed by the game in many new ways.

Re: Soapbox: If You're Not Playing LEGO Fortnite, You're Missing One Of The Best Survival Games
@jolteon23 Yes, we played in one village with two players up to level 10.
We are getting/got buildings and furniture from our villagers. We did not build in other biomes that the grass land.
However I don't think the new buildings will provide more fun to keep me playing. Once you fought the three regon monsters you've seen it all.
Another issue I see in the future is the license. What happens if LEGO drops out? It will loose even more fun content.
Re: Soapbox: If You're Not Playing LEGO Fortnite, You're Missing One Of The Best Survival Games

Also the spawn rate of copper, marmot, obsidian and so on are far to low. Also the content is rather limited. Once you got the highest village level (10 hours or so) and build all the stuff just building houses is left and that is not enough. The game just gets boring.
Re: Talking Point: What Are The Worst Parts Of Your Favourite Games?
Mario RPG, when it turned into a Quiz/Puzzle/Jump&Run without any reason. Unfortunately there are no checkpoint and no save points and even stupid lives, so you have to do this section all at once.
I gave up at that point and put the game into storage.
Re: Fortnite Teases LEGO, Rocket Racing And Festival Games, Launching Next Week
