UK chart data is now in for the week ending 24th August, revealing that Nintendo has managed to snag the top two positions with Mario leading the charge.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has jumped up into first position, after sitting in third last week, and Super Mario Maker 2 has managed to keep hold of second place. There are plenty of Nintendo titles scattered amongst the charts this week, several of which have managed to land in the top twenty.

Wish they would publish the numbers, as I think that this week was a low sale week, especially with what is come up the next month
I wonder how much of an effect the Game's buy 1, get 1 half price deal has had an effect on these sales?

So outside of the usual suspects (Rockstar games, Madden, Fifa and COD) it almost looks like Nintendo is BACK in the UK....someone correct me if I'm wrong but isnt thise kind of a big deal..?

That is a really strong chart for Nintendo in the uk. Numbers probably aren’t astronomical but it shows the staying power of their franchises.

What happened to Fire Emblem?
I know four people who have just bought Switch's this month, Nintendo is flying! I guess MK8DX doing so damn well, we wont see MK9 for Switch...to be honest though, I think this is all the MK I need for now. Would be nice for some new DLC.

Been severely under stocked at retail. Still not freely available at Argos for example (my nearest 12 stores have none)
@electrolite77 That explains it then. I only ever saw Game tweet about it, but now I am aware of others doing these sales as well I assume means it was an official sale by Nintendo through retailers.
Low sales week likely, and this only counts physical sales which benefits the Switch over PS4 and Xbone. However, it's great to see Mario Kart 8 at number 1 well over two years after launch on Switch. That's what you call some legs.... Nintendo has evergreen titles which other publishers can only dream about....

Hopefully Astral Chain doesn't follow the same fate as Fire Emblem Three Houses, that drop off the charts is because it's still out of stock in most places.
It's impressive how well Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to sell for an enhanced port from two years ago with no additional content in that time. I do wish for a brand new Mario Kart on the Switch though.
This looks like a holiday chart to me with lots of children friendly games for the school holidays. It will look very different in a few weeks no doubt. Hopefully Astral Chain will make a big impact. It looks pretty special.

It is a big deal. As a U.K. Nintendo fan of 28 years, it’s a huge surprise. The only other time they were this big here was the Wii/DS years and I don’t remember their software sales being as strong then.

Wii/NDS had massive software sales in the UK, far bigger than what the Switch is pulling off right now.
But compared to any other Nintendo platform, the Switch is a huge rebound.
Glad to see the latest Yu-gi-oh game hit the top ten. I’ve been really enjoying it so far 😄
I see a few comments about the actual number of units sold and wondered if international companies would really be interested in that figure being available for everyone. Surely they like to create their own figures for tax purposes.

@Tibob Mario Party is an excellent game and a complete one as it is. If Nintendo decides to add new things it will just be an extra bonus.
@Wildvine53 Yeah i'm liking it to, kind of fun replaying the story duels with somewhat close to what you could expect a deck of people to be. Also Sealed pack decks is fun!
Not a bad week! Though this begs the question....How many times does one buy GTA V? I feel like there's a record holder out there somewhere. It's just hard to fathom for someone who doesn't double-dip often.

Maybe, but I was really disappointed not to see this series shift from a "release-to release" model to a "yearly DLC" model where content adds up so you're not torn anymore about "which one are we playing this time ?" only to enjoy the few mini games you love in this entry.
Mario will never die sense super mario maker 2 came out..
@Tibob Yeah, with nothing but a stability update since launch it's looking like Super Mario Party 2 in 2020 seems rather likely. Hope I'm wrong and DLC is announced in the September Direct.
Shame to see Super Mario Party is still on there. Guess people are happy with mediocre Mario Partys.
No Fire Emblem but Red Dead is still on the list? And GTA V? What, did the Queen issue a royal order that all UK citizens must eventually buy all Rockstar games? :/
@Tibob Yeah I kinda agree. I'm pretty salty that we didn't get, like any, updates or DLC for Mario Party on Switch. I'd really have liked a few more game boards and playable characters.

I honestly thought Mario Maker 2 having a story mode would hurt NSMBU DX's sales momentum, but it seems like I was mistaken.
Pretty crazy to think that Nintendo now has two separate 2D Mario sub-series that are successfully coexisting with each other.
