Nintendo has a long and steamy history with the hotel industry, which for the sake of the kids we don't need to go into today (ahem). Jokes aside, this latest partnership with Nintendo of Canada and Hotel X Toronto does sound pretty darn cool – and it's for charity, too.
Here's what Nintendo's PR blurb had to say...
Nintendo of Canada and Hotel X Toronto have teamed up to give Nintendo fans the ultimate “night in” with the Nintendo Switch video game system. From March 11 to 26, the luxury hotel’s Presidential Suite will be transformed into the “Nintendo Switch Suite” - an immersive, bookable experience designed for social gaming with friends.
In addition to being outfitted with a number of Nintendo “touches”, the entire space is set up for gameplay - with Nintendo Switch™ and Nintendo Switch Lite systems at the ready. And guests will be able to choose from a library of more than 50 popular Nintendo Switch games - everything from Super Smash Bros.™ Ultimate to Fortnite to The Legend of Zelda™ to the latest Canadian indies.
Consumers will be able to book a stay at the Nintendo Switch Suite (which includes access to the Suite from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) for $500. All proceeds from every booking will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organization on a mission to spread joy to sick kids across the country.
The Nintendo Switch Suite will be open at Hotel X from Wednesday, March 11 to Thursday, March 26, 2020 and bookings can be made online at hotelxtoronto.com.
If you are lucky enough to be travelling around Toronto during these dates, a visit to the Nintendo Switch Suite sounds like a good plan.

I could do that... or I could pay for a much cheaper hotel room and just bring my own Switch with me.
@TJWorks But this is a charity thing, so I’m not sure why you needed to make it sound like a rip off.
It's cheaper to just buy your own Switch and a game and stay in a regular room. Sure it's not 50 games but you're not going to have time to play 50 games anyways. $500 is a bit ridiculous unless you're a group splitting the cost.
Ehhh plus you get to stay in problaby one of the more expensive suites?
"from 3.00pm to 11.00pm" so not even getting to "stay" in the suite, just use it for a few hours for a gaming session. Split the cost with a few mates and it's not a terrible idea for a charity fundraiser though.
Because Legend of Zelda is such a multiplayer game
@FragRed You could donate the savings direct to a charity without losing any to overheads
My partner surprised me with a Super Mario themed airbnb in Tokyo, and it was fantastic.
As you were.
I live in Toronto. I'd like to see this hotel room. Does it look better than my lan party set up. If so I might have a party.
That is a little expensive. I know proceeds go to charity but if you think about it it won’t be that much. The hotel will still take for the room, I’m sure Nintendo might take something for supplying the systems and games.
Personally it might be better to arrange a get together with friends and raise funds for charity that way.
It would make for a good birthday party. I wonder what the limit is for guests in the room. If you can go 10, $50 a pop for 8 hours of gaming isn't so bad. Few pizzas, couple cases of beer and fun night for less then a concert
@Gerbwmu guns N roses is touring in Toronto and floor level seats are $500 to watch old men far past their prime.
@FragRed
$500 for a room to play computer games is a rip off, this charity should be ashamed!
Well now I know why Nintendo isn't enthused about making a Pro model. Their consumer base is particularly cheap.
Remember when Nintendo had hotels before? Yeah, those were pretty...frisky....
@Bunkerneath turns out it's just a dank basement with a few DSis with nothing but Four Swords AE on them.
And everyone is tied to the chairs.
If one could get a decent-sized group where everyone chips in, this wouldn't be a bad fundraiser! It seems kind of weird that you can't spend the night in the suite, however....
Wonder what Nintendo's reaction will be when someone has an orgy there and posts it to pornhub.
Is it haunted, though?....Can I meet King Boo?
Any organization that arranges charities likely (and historically) takes a huge chunk off the top. If you really care about a charity bring supplies to them (like cat food to a cat shelter) so you know there is no skimming off the top. Better yet, donate your time! Go somewhere and actually help.
I'd go there just to use Fuseé Gelée at will, and/or SXOS.
@dew12333 A rip-off... donating to CHARITY? Something many do without receiving anything in return except the satisfaction of helping others.
You're an idiot.
@TOMAWOLF Sislike my opinion if you wish. But name calling, tch tch do one you brainless mug!
