UK chart data is now in for the week ending 18th April, revealing that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has climbed back up into second position.
The game managed to jump ahead of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and last week's number one, Final Fantasy VII Remake, but couldn't keep up with FIFA 20 which finds itself at the top of the league once again.
Other Nintendo games also made it into the top ten, with Luigi's Mansion 3 and Ring Fit Adventure both returning after lengthy spells further down the chart.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:
Last Week | This Week | Title |
---|---|---|
4 | 1 | FIFA 20 |
3 | 2 | Animal Crossing: New Horizons |
2 | 3 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare |
1 | 4 | Final Fantasy VII Remake |
8 | 5 | Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order |
9 | 6 | Grand Theft Auto V |
5 | 7 | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe |
7 | 8 | Resident Evil 3 |
16 | 9 | Luigi's Mansion 3 |
25 | 10 | Ring Fit Adventure |

It’s amazing how so many sheep keep buying that sorry excuse for a game xD
@Hobbesyall Every generation of British kids loves football. EA really don't have to try.
Where are people finding Ring Fit Adventure? I haven't been able to track it down for months and the household needs exercise.
I'm still convinced that it is required by law for Brits to buy FIFA games, and it's also illegal to admit that the Queen herself will have you eliminated if you don't buy a copy.
@Heavyarms55 It's the national sport, even if we are bad at it on an international level. And there really isn't much in the way of competition so of course the ones who love football will buy it every year.
@JamesR that’s exactly what I was wondering! Where are all the copies?
@FragRed See if I were a football fan, I would be pissed. Because EA holds a dirty monopoly on most official licenses and drowns out any competition. They also milk the hell out of fans with micro-transactions, yearly releases with hardly any changes, and the classic EA condescending attitude. They also release deliberately inferior products on some devices, like Nintendo or older consoles, and then blame the fans for why the inferior releases didn't sell.
Look at my profile pic. I LOVE Pokemon and Fire Emblem. But if Game Freak and Intelligent Systems treated the games I love like EA treats their sports games, I'd be livid.
Shows how much of a big seller Ring Fit Adventure would be if stock levels were consistent.
@JamesR If you're in the UK try stockinformer.co.uk. You get an email alert as soon as stock becomes available. It helped me get a copy from the official Nintendo UK store about ten days ago.
@Heavyarms55 I can assure you there was a lot of anger when current generation versions were released and there was massive glitches in some of the modes which I’m not sure were ever patched. But it’s not entirely EA people should be pointing the finger of blame on this. It’s FIFA mainly for letting a single corporation have the license in the first place.
@Heavyarms55 Pokemon basically reskin the same game every year too a little hypocritical imo, esp with their mobile games doing exactly what you detest (i detest it too btw but it's not just EA that are the problem)
@JamesR If you go to the Nintendo Official Store and add Ring Fit to your wishlist they will email you just before it is restocked. The "before" bit is important and caught me out first time around. It means that when you click the link it will still be shown as not is stock and you need to keep refreshing for the next 10 minutes or so to see when they actually update the page.
I'll never understand how sports games, especially yearly ones that don't change, manage to outsell hotly anticipated new releases. Fifa for the UK, Madden and NBA for the US.
@Heavyarms55 @Hobbesyall so Pokémon isn't the same formula since 1997 then?
Okay... If you say so.
Lol.
I still can't find Ring Fit Adventure anywhere. Probably, as in other countries, the only option is to buy back at a 3x of standard price.
@Hobbesyall
You mean Animal Crossing?
I mean if a game being popular means it must just be sheep buying it then I guess Animal Crossing counts right?
Oh my god Luigis Mansion 3 is back in the top 10, this game just keeps selling almost half a year later
@Hobbesyall I can say the exact same thing about Pokemon
@Razer No it is, that's not what I'm talking about. Game Freak doesn't have a virtual monopoly on the monster catching rpg genre. There's no microtransactions for characters. Game Freak doesn't deliberately release inferior versions of products on rival systems and then blame the "fans" when that version doesn't sell well.
@Heavyarms55 I mean have you played Sw/Sh?
@SpaceboyScreams Yes, over 300 hours. Fantastic game! Could use some visual fixes though.
@quinnyboy58 It's not the same thing every year, it's the same kind of game. And I have no issue with that. My issue is releasing the same game. Football doesn't change. It's got the same rules, the same teams, every time. There's no new "regions" to explore, no new goals to attempt, the only thing that changes every year are some of the players. But even THAT is not what I am talking about.
Football isn't an IP. No one has the rights to Football. But the reason people like the game is largely, as I understand it, the teams they like, the players they like and only EA gets to make games with them. There is virtually no competition as a result because everyone knows, no football game without any of the official teams, players and leagues, is going to stand a chance. Anyone can make a monster hunting rpg and Pokemon does have rivals, but for better or worse, they have remained on top of their genre.
Furthermore, EA regular will release a stripped down, deliberately inferior version of the game, release it on the Nintendo platform or "legacy" consoles and then when the game doesn't sell well, they wont acknowledge the stripped back features or unfinished product, instead they'll blame fans and say "see, they don't want a football game!" because they didn't settle for the inferior product.
EA has actually released the actual same game with a new label and the only change being an updated player roster. Not a remaster, not a port of a different version the same stinking game!
Pokemon has never done that. Like or don't like the changes they've done over the years, they've never just slapped a new label on the game and called it a day.
EA is a crap company. And I see why some people don't like Pokemon or Game Freak too, but in my book there's no comparison.
@FragRed That's an interesting point. I really don't know anything about that aspect because I don't follow football. I don't dislike it, I just don't follow it. If it's on TV at the bar, I'll watch and enjoy it (if the bars ever open up again)
So you're suggesting that the leagues themselves just don't care and take EA's money regardless?
@TheFullAndy @Razer Pokemon as had a sad last entry, but the general effort put into one of this games is a bit different at least u come up with new environments and characters! Whereas with FIFA u just paste a few new faces in the sims, shuffle it a tiny bit and ur good to go ! FIFA is a yearly entry with zero effort put into it, and people buy it for 60 euro, it’s the incredible, to add insult to injury it’s filled with micro transactions ! I wonder how can anyone defend such utter bullcrap!!!
Poor FF7 Remake. Those numbers are looking horrible. Good job Luigi Mansion 3. So many Nintendo games in the top 40, it's amazing.
Please fix stock issues Nintendo so Animal Crossing can win.
Game.co.uk are showing Ring Fit in stock....
@Ooccoo_Jr Thanks. Will do!
@SuperJoeUK £90 though! Ouch!
@Heavyarms55 "EA has actually released the actual same game with a new label and the only change being an updated player roster. Not a remaster, not a port of a different version the same stinking game!

I'd argue the sister games and ones like ultra sun and moon are just as bad as this. They add literally 2 or 3 features, have the same story and release it full price. Just Google FIFA 2020 new modes, they do exist. To say FIGA does nothing in between each game and praise Pokemon so hard seems to hypocritical to me.
@Digitamamon64 Fifa has it easy. It's like they just remake the same game year after year. Pokémon has to totally redesign a bunch of stuff. New stories, new art, etc. It's way more creative,
@mesome713 Sort of. They add modes, update rosters, do extra stuff with the physics engine. It's definitely more work than people think. Of course Pokemon is more creative, we're comparing a sports franchise to a completely fictional one. Also, story? Only gen 5 had a good story imo.
@JamesR
Yeah bit steep, but was shocked to even see it in stock.
@Digitamamon64 True, can't agrue with that. Pokémon story WAY better than Fifa story though. Fifa needs to do more, but they have less time.
At least there was some RFA stock?
Fifa on number one? oh yeah, UK.
The amount of people here hating on Fifa and the casual players who like it is funny, it is like a herd mentality, sheep-esque one could say.
I enjoy Fifa, buy it every year, and it doesn't stop me enjoying BotW, Gris, Shovel Knight, Doom Eternal, Luigi's Mansion 3, Bloodborne etc. Gamers have different tastes as they should.
UK loves its football, nowt wrong with that.
Also find it ironic no one is pointing out the millions who have flocked to the new Animal Crossing which is probably now the ultimate casual players game considering the amount of people buying Switches just to play it who would never normally play games and would never buy the games deemed acceptable by people on here.
In short, stop slagging off Fifa and the people who buy it if you are blind to the fact Nintendo succeeds as much as it does by also tapping into the casual market too.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is always there in the top 10 too, will you slag off the people who buy that game?
Thought not. (And you shouldn't as that game is a beast!)
@Hobbesyall Hear hear well said!
@RPGamer Oh mate gaming in Britain is ruined. If it doesn't have a gun, ball or car then no one cares
@Sun-WuGoku
Haha you took that thick didn't you tough lad.
What do you expect from Fifa? Warzone mode? First person mode? Karting mode? It's football, it gives what football fans want each season, sometimes EA muck up but normally Fifa plays a perfectly good game of football.
Please tell me what real gaming is to you then man child? Bearing in mind I have been gaming since the NES days on Nintendo consoles but, guess what, I can like all types of games not just Nintendo games.
Best game all time: Resident Evil 4.
@RPGamer
And Nintendo, Sony, Capcom etc want to make you feel all nice and cuddly inside for no monetary gain? Grow up. They are all in it for the moolah and they do it by making products we want.
I enjoy Fifa so I buy it, what has that got to do with you and what is your problem with it? I buy the game to play online seasons exclusively and get many hours enjoyment. I wouldn't touch that micro transaction laden ultimate team rubbish with a barge pole so all they get out of me is the initial asking price and that is it, usually at sale price too.
No company is perfect, just have to look at the odious Mario Kart Tour to see that.
Who are you or any of us to judge other peoples preferences in games?
Like I said above I have played plenty of games accross all the consoles but we all have our guilty pleasures. I personally wouldn't touch Animal Crossing with a barge pole becuase of the draconian restrictions regarding one island per console and lack of back up (and it just bores me frankly) but I still love MK8 Deluxe and BotW etc.
Get off that pointless high horse lest you become a jackass.
@RPGamer
Fair play to you. Enjoy your gaming!
