Danny Trejo's had quite a life. Having been in and out of prison during his youth, he turned things around in the '80s and – at the ripe age of 76 – can count the likes of Con Air, Heat, Sons of Anarchy, Desperado, Breaking Bad, Spy Kids, From Dusk Till Dawn, Predators and the upcoming Minions: The Rise of Gru amongst his staggering list of film and TV credits.
He's officially the most-killed man in Hollywood, and is no stranger to voice acting in video games, having gained roles in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Fallout: New Vegas and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Oh, and he's also a massive Animal Crossing fan, in case you didn't know.
That's right – beneath that hard-faced, tattooed exterior you'll find a person who likes nothing more than tending to his flowerbeds and making sure his island friends are as happy as can be.
Trejo's such a fan of the game that he's scheduled to show off his Animal Crossing: New Horizons island on Animal Talking, a live-streamed talk-show hosted by Gary Whitta, ex-video games journalist and screenwriter of The Book of Eli and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Past guests include Cliff Bleszinksi, Tim Schafer and Elijah Wood. Trejo is set to become a regular correspondent on the show, in fact.
What's your favourite Trejo role? Do you love the character Isador "Machete" Cortez, or do you think he's underrated as an actor and favour his 'out of character' turns in shows like Desperate Housewives and Monk? Perhaps you ignore all of that, and instead prefer to frequent Trejo’s Tacos, his chain of restaurants?
Whatever your opinion, let us know with a comment.

And here I thought Sean Bean was the most killed actor. Anyway, that's cool. I've always liked this guy.
Machete don't text, but he does do Animal Crossing
@sikthvash I'm ashamed that I only know him by Machete, I didn't even know who the article was taking about at first.
I remember him most from From Dusk to Dawn, although wasn't he in Once Upon a Time in Mexico too? Also Old El Paso adverts.
I have a lot of respect for Danny Trejo and the fact that he's playing Animal Crossing is amazing.
@Kalmaro I think the first thing I saw him in was Desperado. I remember getting the DVD and finding out Trejo was related to the Director Robert Rodriguez.
@Ooccoo_Jr Aye, he had a cameo role as a different guy rather than reprising his role from Desperado
@Dualmask Came here to say the same thing. I was quite excited to see what Sean Bean was cooking up in Animal Crossing. Oh well.
Great character actor! Such a unique look and screen presence! It's always a delight when he pops up in a movie or tv series.
Gary is making moves
I always refer to him as Machete but I've never actually seen those flicks. He's a great actor.
Wait what i thought Sean Benn is most killed man.
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! This is fantastic! 🤣😂
This game is the best ever made. Would love an update on Brie Larsons island.
I believe I read somewhere that whenever Trejo is asked to play a villain, he refuses to do so unless he dies in the film, as to say that bad guys never win. He's a lovely guy, truly
What? No mention of his donut shop? The guy is literally taking over Hollywood.
This is great
@Dualmask I was going to comment exactly the same. I thought it was Sean Bean who got killed the most.
Oh I will have to tune in, he’s one of those actors that’s just beyond underrated, not one I seek out but always find him to be a star turn when I do watch him. Very curious to see what his islands like.
@Dualmask I thought it was Sean Bean too.
@GroundZero012 You are a weird guy because you click on articles that you don't care about. Also, the answer is kinda obvious. Just look at the comments section. Usually, when a person clicks on an article it's because he cares about it so I would say that the majority of the persons checking the article.
Sean Bean doesn't die anywhere near as much as Danny. Trejo used to be That Guy who always showed up as a thug, was onscreen for half a minute and got shot. I swear he's in half the action movies from the Eighties as Terrorist #3 or Moustached Thug. It was his thing.
@JasmineDragon I think many of us thought of Sean Bean because Danny's roles might have been more brief than those of Sean based on what you mentioned, so we forgot about him appearing or didn't pay much attention. It's a good thing he's getting more recognition nowadays, now I know who's actually the most killed man in Hollywood haha.
@bleedinmagic81 I wonder if that's true, that's an interesting take on playing a villain, I like it.
@GroundZero012 You certainly cared enough to click on the article and even leave a comment.
@sikthvash Exactly, just like how the main actor from El Mariachi (the first movie in the series) had a role in Desperado even if it was not the same character.
A very quick glance of the picture, and I thought it was John wick! X x x
@Dragonslacker1 Keanu Reeves would be thrilled at that!
I expected to see Sean Bean.
"Most killed man" likes a game where you can't be killed?
It... actually makes a lot of sense.
@Ooccoo_Jr Once upon a time in mexico, so bad its good.
Loved him in Heat as Trejo in De Niro's crew. He's not just an awesome actor but a wonderful human being as well. He does a lot for the community and look up what he did to save a little boy in a car crash about a year ago.
Danny Trejo is a solid gold legend and all-round awesome dude. He's been in metric fluff-ton of great films (Desperado, Dusk Till Dawn, Heat, Spy Kids, Con Air, Ron Burgundy, etc) and is a genuine double-hard baftard.
He had a rough start and met Edward Bunker (serial bank robber and novelist, Mr Blue in Pulp Fiction) in San Quentin and Bunker put him in some of his books.
Aside from all that macho cool nonsense though, he's genuinely a lovely bloke. I know someone a lot like him, who spent a lot of time doing all sorts of wrong stuff but has turned into one of the most decent, cognisant humans I ever been fortunate enough to know.
Like an old warrior who's laid down his arms because he knows that constant struggle isn't the answer. He can still fsck you up but he hopes you'll understand why he doesn't want to, before he has to.
He's also in one of my favorite movies ever, "Bubble Boy", and he's hilarious in that movie
I thought he had a great cameo in Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
@ZeldaFanboy78 in the photo at the top he's playing Machete, and both the writer/director and Trejo himself have said he's the same uncle as the man in spy kids, this is what he does when the kids arent around
I didn’t know he was that old
You forgot his best film series ever MACHETTE, and then the sequel MACHETTE KILLS, but still waiting for the third MACHETTE KILLS AGAIN IN SPACE!!!!
But still love all roles he has played. Always forget how old he is.
I came here for Sean Bean.
@Dualmask @Kalmaro A lot of his early roles are "unnamed Mexican thug" that gets killed quickly by the hero. The guy got his first role because he "looks like a convict" and in fact has been one. It was later that he built a brand for himself and even got starring roles.
I'm sad that he's a little too old to play Lobo and Jason Momoa is already Aquaman.
He was great in Def Jam: Fight for NY.
