If, like us, you spend far too much of your time glued to a computer screen, you'll probably want to have a browse through these new wallpaper offerings from Nintendo.
Out of the blue, the Big N has shared an impressive number of beautiful wallpapers for fans to download. There are plenty of options to choose from, from Mario, Zelda and Pokémon to Splatoon, ARMS, Super Smash Bros. and more.
You can go ahead and check out the whole collection here.
It's actually pretty unusual for Nintendo to do something like this, so it's a very nice surprise indeed. Make sure to let us know which designs stand out to you in the comments below.

Nice. I will use them as my background on my switch.... Oh wait.
Cue comments how platinum points are officially useless now.
Not that I, with my platinum-discounted Fire Emblem Echoes, will be in a position to join them.
Swap them for a direct.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Why would you use on Switch backgriund, you can't see it, the games cover the whole screen.
@mesome713 They’re making a joke that the Switch still doesn’t have themes.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Why would we want these on a home menu which we only see a few seconds before loading a game?
Also these wallpapers are 500-1000 kb in size, with the Switch OS alone being 200 kb this would make the Switch over 5 times as slow.
@nhSnork Club Nintendo was so much better. After buying 20 games and doing 20 annoying surveys you could get a Mario themed pencil set.
@FragRed thank you. Atleast someone understands my sarcastic comment 🤣
@Kidfunkadelic83 I got it too
@sanderev @mesome713 Images can be optimised. Also if Nintendo added themes to Switch then presumably there would be tweaks to the layout so you could see the theme elements – like the lovely themes available for 3DS - which btw I've never seen slow the UI down over the stock white/grey theme.
@mesome713 Club Nintendo was on occasion very good. Like limited edition soundtracks for certain games, and even special editions of games. But those were very few indeed and did cost a lot of stars.
MyNintendo is nice, since you can use gold for Switch game discounts. But that's about it.
Both have their cons / pros, but neither were actually good. However it's free stuff given by buying a game, they don't need to give you anything.
@brunojenso Only way to optimize an image is by lowering the resolution or increasing the compression. Both will make it look ugly on a 1080p+ TV.
And it's the entire system of themes that slows down the 3DS. It's very much noticeable on a 3DS from prior to the themes update and after. Also the 3DS system is different from the Switch, the 3DS OS actually leaves memory when you load a game. (this is why it takes a short while when you press the home button)
@sanderev I know you and others are passionately against theming the Switch because this same debate has happened many times before. I've heard all the arguments and I don't agree with you that the Switch can't do themes well, and fast. I'm a professional graphic designer with many years experience - and I know images can be optimised very well and still look very good.
My current PC wallpaper folder is sitting at 20,211 images.
Suppose I could toss some more in there.
@mesome713 I still have my 3DS game case from Club Nintendo. It was excellent. I also got Pokemon X for free as part of a special promotion they did. Also got a couple other free games from the service back in the day and other big discounts. Yes, Club Nintendo was FAR BETTER than their current offering.
I see quite a few of these that would work as Zoom backgrounds too
I'm gonna use these as my Zoom background at work meetings! HA!
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, I got free game from My Nintendo too on Wii U. Plus the game vouchers were cool. My Nintendo I just like way better.
@mesome713 i also got about 18 snes and N64 games when the site was just about to close and they dropped the point prices. I also picked up some free WiiU games, wii points, collectors memorabilia etc. Some really nice stuff to have collected. I dont mind money off switch games but i really wish physical buyers didnt have to take a hit over down loaders.
@sanderev thats not how save files and speeds work?
If I download a 200 gb game on a console a computer does that mean windows 10 wil be hundreds of times slower.
You’re spouting BS.
@mesome713 frankly, all I hear about Club Nintendo is physical rewards, so if I ever had to choose, it would be My Nintendo for me anyway - my country is nowhere on Nintendo's map, and I strongly doubt even my main account's branch in the neighbouring Russia would ever bother to mail such stuff abroad. As with digital games, digital perks avoid quite a lot of factual availability issues.
@ROBLOGNICK use the creepy timmy tommy ones............instant promotion!
wallpaper backgrounds... what is this, 1998? 🤦♂️😴😴😴
So generous and kind of Nintendo and we don’t need to use our precious platinum coins too.
Again: could you explain me what the hell went wrong in 2019? Every time I asked to people about what did they think about Nintendo's doing in 2019, all I heard was "disappointing" or "underwhelming" or "bad year" and when I think about all the great games they released in that year, and how good they were reviewed and sold I scratch my head in trying to understand those statement. Also if I think about the fact that Sony had barely one big game that was divisive and sold relatively bad, and yet they got many standing ovations, this whole situation has "messed up" written all over on it. Could someone explain me what the **** is wrong with people and why Nintendo wash this unfairly bashed in 2019?!
Cute, timely way of realerting peope to some of the games they could be passing the time with, I suppose. :9
Some of these are better than the rest, though, I gotta say. And the two from Pokémon Let's Go stand out as particularly awful examples of "oh hey let's have something from these games. Anything will do." ^^
@mesome713 I got a pretty sweet pouch that I use for my GBA, the prizes were pretty nice
I'm impressed! Normally they cost a few platinum coins on My Nintendo.
The office Nook's!! I love it!!
Good job Nintendo for adding wallpapers to a platform that doesn't need it... now what are you gonna do about the switch?
Eh, my wallpaper is automatically better because anime girls.
It’s nice that they’re free.
The Pokémon ones are a letdown since they’re all just watermarked screenshots, but the Tora and Poppy one for XC2 made up for that. That’s stupidly adorable.
I printed all of these, but they only cover part of my wall. I guess I need to print several copies of each to make it a true wallpaper.
@SSJW Sure - and most graphic designers these days have to design for web, and mobile UI/UX design. I do.
@Kriven That was My Nintendo though during 3DS and Wii U.
@mesome713 That was club Nintendo
@1UP_MARIO Ok yall are right, I thought it started with Wii U and 3DS
Never cared about themes on 3ds. The only thing i ever cared was games and folders ....and that's all
