Re: Which Nintendo Switch Games Aren't Fully Compatible With Switch 2?

FiveDigitLP

If you read the details people, there is precisely ONE game that is 100% known to be incompatible at this stage and that is the Labo VR it because "Switch 2 console cannot be inserted into the Toy-Con VR Goggles accessory." Seems reasonable enough! lol

There are a few that are up in the air, but it appears that they working to get that corrected. Honestly, it is impressive that Nintendo has already done this much work to make sure games are compatible!

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 'GameShare' Brings A New Way To Play Locally On Multiple Systems

FiveDigitLP

@FaroreAbhorsen I could see them making it available for Mario Party or Mario Kart. It only applies to local wireless, so it's not like it would eat into their sales for online multiplayer. It would be a really small subset and honestly could promote sales if people sort of "demo" a game with their friends.

That being said, with those two games--Mario Kart in particular--I think there's a chance it may not be technically possible for Gameshare to work since there would be so much resource-intensive and synchronous stuff going on in the game. Of course, my expectation is that these would be very minimal implementations that have to downloaded on the other Switch devices. If they're a larger download, then I suppose it could still be possible!

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera Puts You Into The Game For Multiplayer Fun

FiveDigitLP

People are talking about all of the toxic possibilities of this, but is this even available for general online stuff? I don't know if the specified, but I figured this is the kind of thing you'd use with your group of friends you're playing with remotely. It fits this generation perfectly. I guess I'm getting old at this point so I may be off on this, but is it not pretty common to sit in a voice chat room with friends while playing a game? This seemed targeted exactly at that group.

Re: Hands On: Pokémon Sleep (Open Beta) - An Absolute Snoozefest

FiveDigitLP

> As for this whole concept, one issue in our short time with this app (apart from it wanting to record audio), was how it requires players to sleep with their phones right next to them.

I'm guessing the author of this piece hasn't really utilized other sleeping apps? Unless you have a smart watch to track your heart rate, these apps use the mic and motion sensors to detect how much movement/noise you make and therefore what part of the sleep cycle you're in. To my knowledge, it's the only way for a phone app (by itself) to track your sleep, other than using a few other cues like light in the room and if your phone is actively being used.

Re: Random: Alan Wake's Opening Quote Was Bought From Stephen King For Just $1

FiveDigitLP

@MrGawain Is your comment supposed to be a dig at the game for using something from Stephen King instead of coming up with their own stuff?

If it is then I just want to set the record straight: the game didn't copy an idea from King (to my knowledge at least), they just quote him at the intro. Wake is a writer himself, so he literally says something along the lines of: "Stephen King once said..."

It's meant to be that Alan Wake is talking about his horrific experiences in the story of the game and is drawing a comparison with something King said.

Re: Pokémon GO Increasing Remote Raid Pass Prices & Limiting Daily Participation

FiveDigitLP

This is is just crazy. Pokemon Go has already been struggling, but this is like Niantic WANTS their app to die!

People in my area (metro of a smaller US city) often use remote raid passes in order to be able to invite enough people to be able to take on a really strong Pokemon. With these changes, I think we're going to see a dramatic reduction in the number of raids that actually see participation--at least in my area anyway. Limiting the number per day is one thing, but increasing the price is just ridiculous.

I'm guessing Niantic is hoping the changes they've made to make it easier to see who is in a lobby and how much time they have left before it starts along with Campfire (their maps/communication app) will offset some of these changes, but I just don't think it will be enough.

Re: Fallen Angel Is A Biblical Take On Hyper Light Drifter, Out On Switch In July

FiveDigitLP

Man, honestly there are so many stories from the Bible that could make for some really cool games! (Not saying this feels into that category necessarily.) It would be hard to do it right without coming across as sacrilegious, but I think it could be possible.

We just need real games and not the cheesy, knockoffs of other games they did in the 90s. I'm looking at you Bible Adventures. Lol. (Though I seem to remember thinking Catechumen looked decent.)

Re: Alan Wake Remastered Is Heading To Switch This Fall

FiveDigitLP

Sweet! I already have both the original and the remastered versions on my Xbox, but I'm excited to hear that more people will have an opportunity to experience this story.

After replaying it recently, I must admit that there are aspects that don't hold up perfectly and the gameplay feels a bit clunky at times. But it's probably not any worse than other 360 games from the same era.

I really enjoy Remedy's unique form of storytelling and have just started Control after finally playing through Quantum Break a few months ago. So if you haven't tried Alan Wake, definitely give it a shot, people!

Re: PSA: You Might Not Need To Unbox The New Smash Bros. amiibo To Use It

FiveDigitLP

@Silly_G Man that's rough! Like @DogDetective indicated, the Loftwing amiibos are pretty easy to find here in the states. I was surprised to see them at Target, in fact, because ours had gotten rid of their amiibos stock as well. My only reliable place to shop for them in person was Best Buy and even that appeared to be diminishing.

However, ever since the Loftwing amiibos both stores have started carrying them more... Especially more recently with the Kirby restocks. It has me a bit excited about amiibo again!

Anyway, have you looked to see if you can purchase online from someone in the states? Since they're fairly plentiful, I can't imagine the prices would be significantly jacked up.

Re: Talking Point: What Could NFTs Mean For Gaming, And Why Are They So Divisive?

FiveDigitLP

Thanks for this article! I appreciate your attempt at writing something in a fairly balanced way, as all of the shouting that everyone else is doing does not help me to understand what this is all about.

That being said, I agree with most on here that the whole idea of NFTs for the most part is a silly idea. I don't understand the idea of creating this false ownership of a digital item (especially when it comes to things like images!) that can easily be duplicated. I can say I have unique ownership of this special edition jpg, but if joe blow down the street made himself a copy of it then what really is the point?

Re: Review: WarioWare: Get It Together! - More Magnificent Microgame Mayhem

FiveDigitLP

@munstahunta Isn't that what reviews ultimately are--subjective opinions of an individual? I mean, that's why ratings can vary so much on any given piece of media because what one person may love another may hate. Obviously, there are some aspects that one could argue are "objective" that one can take into consideration, but for the most part this stuff is mostly going to be subjective.

Re: Review: WarioWare: Get It Together! - More Magnificent Microgame Mayhem

FiveDigitLP

@Dpishere I'm sure your mileage may vary, but the earlier games were built with solo play in mind so I'd think you'd have lots of fun on your own. I played through the Wii version and greatly enjoyed it and the challenge that came with trying to get through each section with the crazy pace that comes with these microgames. There was multiplayer on there, but it was only a small selection of the game.

That being said, there is a demo for this so certainly download it and give it a shot to decide for yourself!

Re: E3 2021 Fan Registration Opens On 3rd June

FiveDigitLP

@Snatcher The article mentions "online portal AND app," so I'm thinking there may be a site you can visit as well. (At least I'm hoping so.) When you click on the register link in the article, there is an associated site that makes me think there will be more than just the app...
