More news on E3 2021 has arrived, as the ESA announces that fan registration for the event will open up on 3rd June.
As has been explained previously, this year's E3 will be an all-digital experience running from Saturday 12th to Tuesday 15th June. It seems that a good chunk of the experience will be held via a special E3 online portal and app, and it's for this reason that fans will want to register and get involved.
Registering for the app will allow you to "virtually" attend E3 itself, with virtual 'booths', hosted events, profile and avatar customisation, online forums, and more all being available for those who do. You'll be able to register here from the 3rd June.
To keep track of all things E3 2021, make sure to bookmark our ever-evolving guide. Naturally, we'll be covering all the biggest news and stories from the event right here on Nintendo Life, too, so feel free to join us throughout E3 weekend.
Are you feeling the E3 hype yet?

As if before 2019, E3 didn’t already have a major identity crisis, the pandemic has brought further questions of justification to the event.
I’m glad they’re trying to differentiate themselves from previous years and not just trying to have another slew of announcements and showcases from years prior. I’m also happy that they’re trying to make this to be a deeper experience for everyone beyond reading articles and watching trailers. This is the type of approach Nintendo has been doing with E3 for a few years now and I’d love to see what that kind’ve approach looks like on an industry-wide scale. The ESA’s response seems to be in-line of what I would want out of E3 on paper, but I’m still wary of how the execution is going to pan out.
Can't wait for this Hype, I do think they need a site for this tho, a app is cool and all and everyone has a phone, (Mostly) I rather not use a mobile device for stuff like this, I would like a site.
Does this also mean we might get a E3 demo on the Eshop for games like, idk Splatoon 3? Pokemon legends?
just give us the sched on when and where will presentations take place. That's all any of us care about.
I would love to see a list of games annonced during previous e3 and still not here
I'm not interested with 90% of E3, but O still just kinda wanna join on, since this would be the closest I'd ever be to attending
That’s cool. I will have to make a calendar event.
Cool to know. As I've previously stated (in a related article), I looked ahead last year, to mark this year's E3 (on my calendars). I agree with Kyloctopus, and Snatcher respectively, that hopefully the execution of E3 will match the pr, and that having a site in addition to mobile apps would be more optimal. As usual, I'm always busy, so I highly value being able to jump-into the (online) communities such as here, elsewhere, and get quick catch-ups on things I might have missed. I'm excited (for E3), and I can wait, and enjoy life in the meantime.
Edit: It's really the same as a lot of media (games, movies, books, etc.): Don't go in with unrealistic expectations, and you'll be either pleasantly surprised, or at least not let down to the degree if you had those unrealistic expectations.
This is pretty cool actually. I knew they were doing the digital event but I didn't realize they were really trying to do the actual convention center experience digitally, and making attendance digitally public.
I don't expect it's going to go very well or smoothly, but I love the idea in concept, and I'm hoping they can salvage enough of it to refine it as a permanent fixture in future years.
And, since Sony's once again not attending, we don't have to digitally simulate the virtual experience of Shawn Layden funneling us awkwardly around a bad church set with no idea where we're going or why. It's a win-win.
@Snatcher I can see us getting a global testfire for Splatoon 3 tbh, I just dunno if they'll drop it during E3 since they usually do it a few months before the game drops in the case of Splatoon 1 and 2.
I need an E3 hypefest. I miss that feeling....
Don’t need an app to watch a Nintendo direct
Wonder if there's any purpose to registering for this other than just walking around virtual booths. If it allows you to play demos of games, then I'll think about it.. however, it just seems needless otherwise.
Also, I'm confused on if registering is free or not.
One good thing to come from this pandemic; the ability to attend E3 (and other digital conferences) from anywhere in the World.
And I do hope these digital events will continue to exist, even after the physical events return in the following years.
I'm bizarrely fixated on what type of customization we'll get for our avatars. I'm going to try as hard as possible to recreate my more disturbing Miis
@Snatcher The article mentions "online portal AND app," so I'm thinking there may be a site you can visit as well. (At least I'm hoping so.) When you click on the register link in the article, there is an associated site that makes me think there will be more than just the app...
Huzzah! I can go to E3 for the first time!
@VoidofLight
If you follow the link, the 'Fan' tier explicitly says access is free.
There is something ridiculous about how people get so angry about adverts on YouTube, streaming services and websites, and E3 is telling us we need to sign up to a service to be able to watch adverts.
I only intend to following Nintendo's lineup, so I'll be passing on this opportunity. I'll be working anyway, so there's no point even if I wanted to. I have NoA's tweets set up for push notifications, so I imagine I'll "go to the bathroom" and have a mini freak out sesh if I see anything that makes my eyes bulge, namely BotW sequel, new mainline Kirby, or Fire Emblem.
