@Kalmaro I'm with you. I think the Dynamax thing looks like it could be fun. I also like the sense of scale it creates when you're in a stadium. Oh, and the idea of doing raids with other players sounds like it could be fun! I haven't ever been able to participate in Pokemon Go raids because I can schedule that out, but being able to do it online would be nice.
@thesilverbrick Dude, I don't know why everyone has such a huge problem with your phrasing. Just want to say that not everyone is so sensitive about a simple figure of speech, so please don't take it to heart. I thought I'd throw that out there as I know it's easy to let yourself get worked up when someone throws a negative comment your way on the Internet.
@BulbasaurusRex Huh? If you've played the game, you're certainly entitled to your own opinions, but I don't personally feel that the controls are stupid. Sure, you had to do some mental gymnastics at times, but that's part of the fun and challenge of it! Your brain is so used to using a controller to move one character that when you're trying to make two different characters to do two different things at the same time, you sometimes have to pause and think about your next action.
@Sunanootoko I agree with @bilboa . If possible, you should try to play it single player first. (It's fairly short, so it should be feasible.) I think coop could work, but it would definitely take away from the challenge and storytelling.
@Dm9982 It's sort of an adventure puzzle game. It has some of the puzzle elements you'd find in a Zelda game, but is very linear (which is good in this sort of game where the emotional story plays such a strong role imo).
Also, since the gameplay is made up entirely of just moving two characters around with only a single contextual action button per character, it kind of is reminiscent of a point and click game. If you've ever played Journey, it's kind of similar in gameplay except this has the hook of playing as two characters at the same time.
If you've never played Brothers, DEFINITELY buy it! It is simply wonderful and has a surprisingly emotional story to it. It really left an impact on me personally. Also, the gameplay provides a really unique hook that I've not seen elsewhere.
Great game. I DEFINITELY recommend it! It's got an emotional story (yet has no voice acting) and has a unique gameplay hook much like what @pinta_vodki says above. It's fairly short, but worth it regardless.
I've gotta say this is sad to hear. Honestly, not only did the game have story and gameplay related issues when it first came out, but it was actually fairly glitchy in the original version (360 for me). There was texture pop-in, scripted sequences would have sounds/voices not be in sync with the video, and there was a sense of uncanny valley with most of those characters... IMO, the best part of the game was the homestead missions!
@DarthNocturnal I haven't really played much Assassin's Creed since ACIII (barely touched IV), so that's sad to hear that they got rid of the multiplayer. It was such a fun aspect.
I'm weird in that I actually like the seeming meaningless "Completed level 2-1" achievements. It makes for a very easy way to browse over my games (via the console or online) and see how far I've made it (I have a bad habit of jumping back and forth between various games) AND I can view friends' achievements to see their progress.
If Nintendo had a solid way of tracking someone's progress in a game without the common way of implementing achievements, I'd be perfectly content with that, honestly.
@Liam_Doolan Ah, my bad. I realize now that when you linked to the Games Store you were referring to the other DS and Wii games. Thanks for clarifying!
Perhaps it was a fluke and they put it back up today? Though I would wonder if it was still a sign of things to come and was just prematurely done by accident...
This could be fun. I was not aware of Smashketball in previous iterations of the game--one of the benefits of now being able to share levels!
That being said, one of the frustrating things I'm finding so far is that a lot people will make these levels that are nice artwork, but they aren't really fun to play on. I mean I like Sans from Undertale as much as the next guy, but if the level is just a hunk of mass and the majority of the artwork is in the background or, even worse, if the level is difficult to navigate because of the "art" then what is the point?
Wow. Why all the negative Nancys? Personally, I thought the game was quite a bit of fun. Sure, it was a bit of a stopgap until Smash came out for us Nintendo gamers, but it's still fun nonetheless. I actually had trouble switching to the pacing of Smash at first after playing this because everything is so much faster in Brawlhalla.
The UK government always seems a lot more trigger happy (not really the right word, but I'm having trouble coming up with what I'm looking for) than the US when it comes to consumer-related concerns over business practices. In theory, that seems like it would be a good thing, but to me they come across as overzealous and I usually just roll my eyes.
Is it just me or does the style of the world remind you of Breath of the Wild? Like the landscapes have some of the same dreary and forlorn look and then the mechanical things have blue accents that seem reminiscent of the technology in BOTW. Not saying that's a bad thing, just something I noticed.
@zander_dale These days they really provide quite a bit to keep you coming back... Especially if you have friends to battle, trade with, and send gifts to. However, i don't know what they're going to do once they catch up with the number of Pokemon generations that already exist. I'd say at the rate they're going we still have at least a couple years before that happens though.
I'm of two minds on this. I have always been pretty anti-piracy myself. When all of my friends were getting "free" music from online sites back in the day, I would choose not to participate and call it what it was (stealing). Even now I have friends that brag about using various apps or sites to watch movies for free even while they're in theaters and I'm thinking you're a grown adult thinking this is ok?
Yet when it comes to video games (at least old ones anyway), I get frustrated because some of these companies are choosing not to provide a legitimate way to play them. Or, even worse, there's a aspect of historical preservation to this and I hate the idea that if something is not done some of these games could go the way of the dodo bird.
I'm not advocating piracy, but companies like Nintendo really need to come up with a viable alternative solution.
@Sanasalin This is exactly what I was thinking. When I think of an "open world" Pokemon game, I think of Xenoblade. You wander around and just like in real life, there are some creatures that are docile and won't even approach you until you attack while there are others that are vicious. I think that would make for a really interesting experience with Pokemon. (Disclaimer: I've only played the first Xenoblade.)
@Coach_A That's what I don't get! What changed with season 5 that caused this to be an issue? Video recording was turned on before that point and we weren't seeing these sort of performance issues...
I love the trailers they've been showing for this game, but I think the one downside is that it kind of assumes you are already familiar with what it is. This trailer in particular makes it seem like the game is just about ripping patients apart in a non-sensical manner when that's just a side effect that makes it humorous. (@SKTTR @JJ286)
However, much like Octodad or that one game where you have to control the track runner with your keyboard, the thing that really makes the game is trying to manage the ridiculous controls to accomplish your goals. I don't know how it will be with motion controls, but on the PC you had different keys to rotate the hands, move the arms, and grab things. It felt more like controlling a machine (like a crane) rather than a human being. So yeah, @gcunit I think the fun of trying to control your character without making a total mess of things stays funny throughout the whole thing. Granted, there aren't a massive amount of levels in the game, but with the price they've set it at (I was thinking to myself it would have to be below $15) and the added value of co-op I think it's worth playing.
I don't have any opinions on Treehouse (still haven't played Fates yet), but I was actually reflecting just the other day on how good the Awakening translation was. It's the little things like giving Donnel a redneck accent and farm references that give me reason to enjoy their work so much.
It's a shame to hear they won't be doing the new one. I must say with what little I saw, it didn't feel quite the same as Awakening.
I wish they would remove Bayonetta in the next version (or at the VERY least keep her as separate DLC).
Yes, I know that is controversial, but I've never really felt like she fits in the game. The game (to me at least) it supposed to be a lineup of all-star characters. Generally they're first party characters, but when they are third party they need to be characters that have been in the Nintendo roster for some time or at the very least be a classic gaming icon (Sonic, Cloud, etc). Bayonetta has had what, two games released? And one was just a re-release from another platform.
Secondly, I just feel like she seems out of place. Nintendo tries to stay family-friendly and practically all of the other characters line up with this. Bayonetta is a sensual and seductive character who is only clothed by her own hair...lol. I have no problem with the games being on the platform, but I don't feel like she belongs in Smash.
One interesting thing that I haven't seen anyone point out here is in his follow-up statements: "In discussing matters with MCV, I thought that some insider information would make them interested in the overall conversation, and such lip service did not stand on the side of truth."
By saying that his comments did not "stand on the side of truth", is he implying that he completely lied about some of that?
@rjejr You do it so often that I definitely have begun assuming you mistype Nintendo on purpose...especially the times when you're criticizing something about them. It just seemed to fit.
Is it just me or does this feel like a Cartoon Network game or something? Like the art direction makes me think of something like Been 10 or Teen Titans. Not saying it's bad or good. Just noticing it.
I purchased the first one, but have yet had the time to play it. Both of these though remind me of Fragile Dreams as far as the emphasis on story is concerned and the overall tone.
@Evenmoresteven I'm wondering if they meant they are putting all of their focus into development versus dividing some of their attention by putting together an updated trailer for the Nindies showcase.
I think the art style for Nidhogg 2 is fun. However, I do think it would be great if the original were released as well. It has more of fluid and simple look to it.
