@SLIGEACH_EIRE For once I actually agree with you. Perhaps I set my expectations too high, but I felt like they didn't have enough new announcements and rehashed over too much known stuff (especially since we just had the Nindie showcase). Likewise, for the most part, I don't feel like it's a good use of time when they have these directs where they spend a TON of time talking about the nitty gritty of a particular game. In this case, they had two: Pokemon and XC2. I'm sure both will be great games, but it really slowed down the pace.
Animal Crossing, Portal 2, and Katamari Damacy. What an interesting combination of influences! That being said, they can certainly be seen in the video above. Sounds like a really fascinating game. At a glance, it seems like a bright and simple kids game, but it sounds like it has some more mature and thought-provoking themes as you dig deeper. I like it!
@speedracer216 Just out of curiosity, why is it a problem if a console is getting a lot of indie games? I'm not trying to point a finger at you as you're not the only one who has stated this. But I just don't get it. I can understand complaining about ports, but many indie games these days are just as good as a lot of AAA games. In fact, I feel that most Nintendo fans should feel more at home playing indie games than with the unnecessary bombast of most AAA games.
@Spoony_Tech I beg to differ. I think they should drop the price some, but 1-2 Switch really makes for a fun party game. I play it with almost everyone who I get to try the Switch. The marble game is especially fun for showing off the HD rumble.
@TJM I don't know if I'd call that a conspiracy theory. It definitely fits the bill when it comes to the EA I'm familiar with. Bombast and all that. Likewise, phrases like "worlds that you can inhabit and master that feel like super polished surrogates to our real world" remind me of Sony and their advertising. It's a perspective on gaming that I feel is less and less relevant to me and instead seems to target the stereotypical, socially-reclusive gamer.
Regardless of if it your comment is true or a conspiracy or whatnot, it was definitely a nice read. Thanks!
@LuckyLand Huh. Interesting. I didn't see it that way at all, but to each his own! I have my own games that everyone else likes, but I personally can't stand.
@LuckyLand Seriously? You didn't like Brothers? It was very sad, but I felt like it was a very moving experience personally and don't regret playing it one bit.
Man, those character models definitely still need some polish...
I'm really excited to see her in this. She is one of my favorite characters from Awakening. I just hope they use a different voice actor than they did for Heroes. Her voice is too deep...or something.
This game was one of my favorites for the 360. It will be tempting to double-dip it so that I can have a portable version, but I must say not having the original soundtrack does make it a little less tantalizing. The original was (is) SOO good. I still listen to it quite regularly.
I'm not much of a Sonic fan, but that's a pretty slick video. I love how the animation reminds me of their old stuff. I know it's being compared with Sonic CD, but it also reminds me of the old Sonic cartoons I used to watch.
@ShadJV I'd say it was closer to 30 minutes! lol. I happened to not have checked my phone for 30 minutes (shame on me) as I was putting my son down for bed. I then looked and saw a tweet from Wario64 from 37 minutes before. Naturally, I was too late and the Walmart page was already dead.
This is awesome. Anker is an up-and-coming electronics accessories brand. I've bought a USB hub and bluetooth ear buds from them. Both work great. Their packaging and product design is simple yet pleasant. I have not personally worked with their support, but if you read the Amazon reviews it's all positive.
I don't get it. When I read the beginning of the article, I was confused. Terms like "full year profits" sound like a good thing to me. No idea what "fresh profit warning" means, but at a glance it doesn't sound inherently bad. Obviously, it was quickly apparent that this is not a good thing, but I'm not sure what those terms mean. Are these British phrases or just Wallstreet things I'm not familiar with...?
@aaronsullivan I agree completely with your comments! I feel like what this guy is saying sounds much more genuine than a lot of the stuff Reggie churns out. He's got some really good points and it does seem Nintendo has a pretty good pace set for this year so far.
Also, I feel that the "it adds extra load on the server" line is a bunch of BS. I have not noticed an increase in performance since they have shut down any of these things (in fact, I think the opposite might be true). I'm in the IT industry and the idea that these tools (at least the ones that I used) added that much overhead to make a difference is kind of silly to me.
Let me preface this by saying that I am one who is vehemently against cheating and doing anything dishonest.
Personally, though, I don't feel like this is cheating. Sitting at home and using a tool that spoofs your GPS: yes. Using something that would allow you to make the perfect Pokemon (dunno if this is possible in Go, but it is in the main games): definitely cheating. However, I don' t think using a tool that just tells you (in a more accurate manner than the game does) where the 'mon are is cheating.
It has gotten slightly better, but there was a period of time where the spawns had decreased a lot (late fall I think?) and it felt pointless to wander around and get nothing (and I live in the second largest city in my state at that!). I actually used third party websites to help me locate Pokemon. Heck, I probably would have given up on the game, but instead I would look at my computer from work and see that there was something rare just down the street and would jump up to go get it. I have never personally used an app that links to my account as I am paranoid about just this sort of thing happening, but I don't really see the big deal.
Not sure what to think about that Tiki. I think I like adult Tiki versus child Tiki as far looks go, but even here I don't feel like it even looks like young Tiki. It looks like some sort of fan version or something.
That presentation with Cammy was the first time I really paid attention to E3. (I've always been into games, but for some reason didn't care about the gaming "news" before then.) Man, was it bad. I had no idea who the "normal" Nintendo faces were and was just annoyed by her obvious lack of gaming knowledge. To be honest, for the longest time I never really liked Reggie either due to Wii Fit presentation. To me, they both just seemed too corporate and obviously were just your typical marketing execs vs people like Iwata who came to his position from within the industry.
@liljmoore Dude, don't let it prevent you from getting this. The 360 version didn't have all the bugs from the PS3, so I'd like to think by this point they'd have porting the game to other consoles nailed down.
As for me, I'm trying to decide what to do. I've put a crap-ton of hours into my 360 copy, but rarely have time to play it anymore with a 3 year old child. I hate the idea of having to start over, but having a portable copy sounds verrrrry appealing.
@Windy Did you miss the part at the beginning of the article where it said: "Previously released to critical acclaim on PC and smart devices, it'll arrive on Nintendo's console a couple of months ahead of other platforms." I'm fairly certain this is not an Android game...
@KTT Yuck. Well, it's obvious I don't play many mobile games then! Lol. Outside of the Nintendo related ones, all I've ever really played are Jetpack Joyride and maybe one or two others. For the most part, I prefer to stick to my consoles.
@ThatNyteDaez @Sinister Yeah, they're too little too late. I was still actively playing myself up until a month or two ago. I tried picking it up again with the adventure week recently, and it was fun, but it just didn't stick for me.
Weird off-topic question to all you Brits:
As an American, when someone can't say their R's correctly, it's considered a speech impediment. Is this the case for you as well or is it more a of a dialect thing depending on what region you're from?
I suppose the same can be true here as well in that sometimes people from certain regions of New England don't really say their R's properly, but I feel like that's a bit of an anomaly.
EDIT: I hope this doesn't come across as ignorant or insulting to anyone. I really am just curious.
You know, I was really into this game when I first started playing it a few days ago, but the more I played it the more I felt like it was a complete waste. I mean, there's no skill involved and literally almost all you do is tap something on the screen. Either you tap the food to feed him or you tap the jump button. The only time there's more "complexity" than that is when you have to random encounters... And that's not saying much.
Sorry if I sound upset about this. I'm not someone who just hates mobile games as I've liked Super Mario Run, FE: Heroes, and Pokemon GO. I just don't understand why they couldn't have put more effort into this.
Why all the hate for the Rabbids? Yeah, Ubisoft has driven them into the ground a bit, but they can be quite fun. I got the first game when it first arrived on the Wii. It was a blast. And even some of the sequels were kind of fun. The TV show is (was?) actually pretty funny too. There's some surprisingly intelligent humor in there.
@Shinnos Me too! I don't have all of the consoles I need for the VC, but I do have 8-bit Mario on the NES folder.
