In an announcement that was expected ages ago following the appearance of an age rating, Alan Wake Remastered is confirmed to be heading to Switch this Autumn / Fall as an eShop-only release. Previously released on PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S, the pleasing news is that it'll be running natively, not as a Cloud version.
Originally released on Xbox 360 way back in 2010, Alan Wake made waves and won over plenty of fans for its approach to episodic storytelling, structuring itself as a psychological thriller with action gameplay. As a follow up to its terrific work on the Max Payne series it further established Remedy's reputation, even if some jokes have been made over the years about Wake being overly keen to stress he's a writer - though it is key to the story - and the classic hoodie under jacket attire.
It is also referenced a fair amount in Control, interestingly, with Remedy clearly keen to build on the lore and world it's been creating.
In other news, Remedy has confirmed that it now has a partner for its long-in-development Alan Wake TV series - it'll work with AMC Networks to make it a reality.
Are you planning to pick up Alan Wake Remastered on Switch later this year?

If it has a proper physical release I will
What a joyous occasion!
@Zuljaras Unfortunately they've said it "will launch as a digital Nintendo Switch release only"
Sweet! I already have both the original and the remastered versions on my Xbox, but I'm excited to hear that more people will have an opportunity to experience this story.
After replaying it recently, I must admit that there are aspects that don't hold up perfectly and the gameplay feels a bit clunky at times. But it's probably not any worse than other 360 games from the same era.
I really enjoy Remedy's unique form of storytelling and have just started Control after finally playing through Quantum Break a few months ago. So if you haven't tried Alan Wake, definitely give it a shot, people!
@ThomasBW84 Ehhh Well you can't win them all
Nice! Glad I didn’t buy it anywhere else.
Going to get it! This has to be one of the biggest surprises of this year!
Awesome news! A very welcome addition indeed.
Played through the original version on Xbox One last year and absolutely loved it. Fabulous atmosphere that will go down well with anyone who likes their fiction of the Stephen Kingy variety.
I told you all. It will be coming eventually.
ESRB rating is always true
@ThomasBW84 @Zuljaras It is still a native release than a cloud release at least.
That is all that matters (imo ofc)
Motion controls please and I may go for it.
Oh heck yeah, I’ve always wanted to try this!
Remedy should really be lauded for making a Switch port.. But I have a Steam Deck preordered and Alan Wake is a Steam Verified game (meaning it should run flawlessly on the Deck).. So I really don't know.. it will be a matter of price, performance, what feels best etc.
i know its still a work in development but the framerate looked very unstable from the brief glimpse we got of it.
I'll definitely be picking this up.
Should’ve been the one last thing in the indie world yesterday, Remedy are an independent developer
Finally...holy mother... Have been waiting for this since ages. Finally some good news.
Very overrated game
It was a fun game but have absolutely no interest in another go. Definitely a one and done game but good news for the few that missed it.
Will probably just look the same as the xbox 360 version
This will just be the Xbox 360 version on Switch.
Awesome! Now we need the announcement for Batman Arkham Collection, the date for release for Outer Wilds, the date for release for Silksong, the date for release for Bayonetta 3, the date for release for TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Cowbunga Collection, the date for release for Fall Guys...
I’m really down for this. Only heard good things about the game. I didn’t play the original.

Limited Run Games takes notice
Never played this one myself. Definitely gonna check it out on Switch.
I really enjoyed this game on 360. Great combat and a wonderful mix of Twin Peaks & Stephen King with a dash of Lovecraft. Will definitely pick this up for Halloween.
@kingbk
You read my mind! It's insane that none of the ARKHAM games have been ported to Switch! And where are my release dates for my TMNT smorgasbord!!??
See the doom and gloomers are in here!!
Hope the port will be a decent one switch deserve great games like this.
I've never got around to playing this, might actually pick up for my Switch Lite.
Digital only? That's a shame. I'll stick with the original Xbox 360 version, which runs at 60fps on my Series X. And my physical copy of Alan Wake Remastered for PS5. Hopefully Limited Run releases a physical version for Switch 🤞.
@shgamer No disrespect to the Switch, but you are better off playing it on the Steam Deck and picking it up on Steam or CD keys. £11 when checked. So far not really had any games in my library that the Steam Deck has struggled with.
@DTfeartheBEARD Much respect to you for supporting such a great game on multiple platforms. I tip my hat.
I’m very excited about this news! The idea of playing it handheld is a good one.
Got the earlier version on Steam (yet another last minute purchase whose respective delisting was at least telegraphed in sufficient advance), but you bet it will never get installed now. Looking forward to getting the Switch port in due time!
@vesemir0 Yeah, I know even a lot of so called unsupported games seems to work fine if a lot of Youtube videos tells the truth (sometimes it's probably just a matter of some text being very small, but that's an issue in some Switch games as well, if you play them handheld).
I guess a certain guy from Gamexplain who was excited for Alan Wake 2 might like this news...
i am definitely double dipping and getting this for the switch
Been waiting since last Fall for this announcement since the Switch version was leaked to two ratings boards. Can't wait! Just wish it was getting a physical release.
@WaveBoy Gyro makes games completely unplayable for me so the first thing I do is make sure it's disabled in a game, lol
@WaveBoy Well you see I have an OLED Switch and no dock so I just play in handheld mode. I heard gyro doesn't work too well in handheld, lol
