I kinda disliked the world and the characters in the first one, but the strategy gameplay wasn't bad for the most part. I'll need to return to try and see if I can complete the first game at some point.
I think 16th is the best I got, and even that was sort of a fluke, mostly I tend to be in the 30-40 range, if I can actually make it to the end of the track in the first place.
I need to learn some manners on the track before I can really hope for anything better.
I bought the Pokemon Violet DLC, I needed something chill after playing through Command & Conquer Red Alert, and there's not many thing more chill than Pokemon, didn't start a new save or anything, just continued from my save with the main story completed, to get some more mileage of the DLC though, I made it a point to not use many of my Pokemon from the main run and try to build a new team for the DLC, I only kept my favorite, Mondo Beast the Vigoroth, to help me get things running. To get readjusted to the game I did go and collect the Eviolite item which I missed in my original run since I never really went into the area where it was, in the process I ran into a Misdreavus which'll also be joining me in my DLC run.
Made it to the DLC area and have just been sploring haphazardly, catching random Pokemon and battling pointless trainers. It's been okay, it's just more of the same, which isn't too bad since I did quite enjoy Pokemon Violet.
I don't think I really have anything that'd be rare enough to be worth mentioning, some sought after games that do go for the $150+ price these days 's the best I got.
Pretty poor showing, weakest one in a long time. None of the new stuff was interesting to me, sole exception being the Ogre Battle lookalike from Atlus+Vanillaware, and even that's just potential interest. I guess Saga's fine also though its kind of a lower end RPG series in my eyes.
Thousand Year door was cool when I played it years ago but I don't really consider it something worth revisiting, unlike Mario RPG.
And yeah, the F-Zero 99 game is pretty much just pouring salt in the wound, just give us the true new F-Zero entry we all want, c'mon...
@Switch_Pro I disagree. Having played the recent fan remasters of those games that fixed the terrible frame rates and added some additional quality of life, it really wasn't too bad, I think the games do have legimate charm to them. More than anything I think the games were held back by the CD-i itself, and how it really wasn't properly designed to be a video game console.
At my friend's recommendation I decided to give the Command & Conquer Remaster an another go since apparently the 2ns game of the collection C&C: Red Alert does a bit more of a better job easing you in compared to the first one, and yeah, I'd say it does, game's still kicking my ass and I need to lower the gameplay speed to snail speed (which thankfully is an option) so I can actually keep track of whats going on but I've been able to enjoy this one quite a bit more. Still early on, on mission 5, was stuck on Mission 4 for several days before.
Also started out a Co-op playthrough of Borderlands 2 with my friend, I find the characters obnoxious but I love the gameplay and the diablo-like look system.
They made such a big deal about the dragon transformation being permanent and how Zelda would be sacrificing her own self for it and then I gues it just wasn't? It was a total copout, I hated that.
Retro Game Challenge was superb, some of the best stuff on the DS. I'd love to see this get an international release as well a translation of the sequel.
Meh, I just wish if they did another round of DLC where they'd sdd some more tracks for FF4-FF9, they really didn't add enough in the jump from 3DS to here and 4 and 6 in particular feel incredibly shafted.
I did start out Sea of Stars since I was at a convenient spot where I had just finished my last big playthrough, around 8 hours in now. It's okay but hardly amazing, the writing in particular is pretty atrocious.
Huh, funny. I actually just started Illusion of Gaia as a "filler game" in hopes that I would be able to finish it before Sea of Stars releases, had zero clue that it was something that had influenced it.
Well as for Sea of Stars itself, the demo was good and I do hope the full game continues to deliver.
I just beat Yakuza Like a Dragon yesterday so I dunno really, I'm at the awkward spot between games, I'm thinking maybe I'll try giving Sea of Stars a shot since it conveniently releases next week and I did quite enjoy the demo, maybe in the meanwhile I'll try checking out something a bit shorter.
I already tried getting into Command & Conquer remaster late yesterday, I knew it was an RTS and all, but it turns out you cannot pause time to give commands in that game whatoever, so that one's pretty much totally undoable for me, and the lack of any tutorials is annoying too, how am I supposed to know what any of the units do or anything, they just kinda throw you in there.
Playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which my friend bought me (for christmas I think?). I've got some prior experience with the series, I've played through Yakuza 3 and 4 some years prior but this one's got a completely different playstyle, instead of a beat-em-up with some light RPG elements, it's just a plain ol' turn based RPG which I'm all in for, though the battle gameplay in itself isn't all that compelling, clearly the focus in moreso on the storytelling and the world around you, there's just vast amounts of stuff to do and collect, seriously, this game's even got a fully functional version of Virtua Fighter 5 that you can play at the ingame arcade, crazy.
My GOTY so far is 8-Bit Adventures 1: The Forgotten Journey a delightful classic JRPG style indie game, it goes a bit too heavy on the silly references at few points, and the enemy sprites are amateurish (in spite of the overworld pixel art looking pretty good) but othewise it's a tighly designed game with nice dungeons, simple and functional gameplay, great soundtrack and fun and surprisingly well thoughout writing for an indie game. A great reminder how good this genre can be when done right.
@Dman10
You start thinking like that and suddenly there's not gonna be much meaning to anything, best not to go there and just enjoy whatever brings you joy.
I don't really recall ever getting rid of something I particularly wanted back, I guess Red Dead Redemption (1) I sold to my friend and repurchased a few years ago, it wasn't a big deal.
I guess for the wackiest story I sold of all three of my starting 3ds games Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ocarina of time 3d and Resident Evil Mercenaries because the latter pissed me of so much that I just didnt want to see it and I guess I figured it'd be easier to sell then in a bundle. Bit of a shame I guess since the Dead or Alive game was pretty legit.
My favorite racing game of all time and one of all time greats just in general. I played through it a year or two and I think it hold up just as well as it ever did.
Been playing Fallout New Vegas it's been fun but 30 hours in I think I'm starting to get a little bit overwhelmed by all these sidequest, I think I'll just start homing in towards the main quest.
Well, the trailer doesn't really say much of anything, if I had to guess I'd say it'd be a moba of some kind, but who really knows.
I don't really like how it looks. Stick of Truth was a one hit wonder, I doubt there's ever going to be a south park game that's as amazing as that one.
As someone with near zero knowledge on DnD the game is really imposing, right at the start the character customization throws tons and tons of classes to choose from, perks and skills to pick from and whicever deity you like serve from those classes... 's not like a bog standard RPG where you start as a scrub either, right away you're knee deep in it, and have tons of combat options to pick from and the starting area in itself is such a confusing mess that I just couldn't deal with it.
Maybe I'll try it again at some point and pick something simple like a barbarian that just hits things with a big ol' hammer or something.
Yeah I'm gonna join in singing the praises for this one, one of the best fighting games I've ever played, and probably the nicest looking one ever. If you've got a buddy to play with it and you like figting games, get it.
It's also the only game where my main man Hwa Jai is playable.
I did play the first Red Dead a year or so ago on my PS3, a pretty decent open world game with great atmosphere and writing, I do need to check out the Undead DLC at some point too.
I loved this game as a kid, but even back then I though that this game is slooooooooow, between that and being limited to the underpowered rental Pokemon only you're gonna need the patience of a saint to be able to play this for much.
But back in the day, this was such a fantastic companion piece to the Gen 2 games, I love the art and personality the game has.
@Dringo I agree, Legends truly was a great game. And while Scarlet & Violet had some pretty big issues and should've spent like an extra year in the oven, the open world formula in itself really did help the exploration aspect of the game, finally the "guided tour" campaigns no more.
Sea of Stars potentially, I liked the demo well enough, but I need to see some further impression first I feel. Though I'll prolly get it on steam if I do get it.
Bleh, not a fan of this character, despite being a pretty cool game, none of the MK11 newcomers really did anything for me, meanwhile I did like the glowup many of the MKX characters did get in 11.
I like the clean japanese cover. This is another one of those game I've had since childhood but just never completed alongside few others like Paladin's Quest and Secret of Evermore. Should get to those at some point.
Well I just managed to complete my playthrough of Vagrant Story yesterday, for my next game I'm currently considering stuff like Final Fantasy X-2, Suikoden Tactics, Halo 1 and Street Fighter 6, I donno for certain still what I wanna go for.
I've also been playing Death Road to Canada, an awesome rogue-like I discovered this week as my friend was visiting, still haven't managed to do a complete run but I've unlocked some stuff and it's been fun seeing all the weird events and obtaining all sorts of weirdo cameos. Cloud version for sure.
Re: Excellent Time-Travelling Metroidvania 'Timespinner' Is Getting A Sequel
It's been a while since I played it but I recall finding Timespinner to be throughly mediocre and the dialogue in particular was actually painful.
Not interested in the sequel whatsoever.

Re: Star Ocean The Second Story R Scores Free Demo On Switch Today
I've played the original, already know it's gonna be worth it.
Though apparently Dragon Quest Monsters also got a demo, that one I'm not so sure on so I'll prolly be checking that one out.
Re: Vanillaware's Brand New Strategy RPG Is Giving Us Serious Ogre Battle Vibes
Out of all the stuff on the mediocre direct this one did actually catch my eye somewhat, looks pretty dope. Gonna have to wait and see.
And yeah I was thinking it was gonna be Ogre Battle as well, lol.
Re: GameCube Classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Is Heading To Switch
I liked the game and all, back in the day, but don't really feel compelled for a revisit on this one.
Re: Poll: Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster Is Out On Switch This Week, Will You Be Getting It?
Nah, the loss of the english dub kinda killed it for me personally, I'll just play my GC copies if I do wanna play it.
Both of these are great JRPGs though and come with a hearty recommendation from me.

Re: Poll: Disney Illusion Island Is Out On Switch Today, Will You Be Getting It?
No. It's the exact sort of "whimsy" that I cannot stand.
Re: Poll: Final Fantasy IV - Do You Prefer The Original Or The DS Remake?
The original as in the Japanese SNES version (fantranslated) is my favorite way to play FF4, the PS1 version is fine too though the load times are a pain. Pixel remaster was terrible because of the gutted level of challenge (game's already pretty easy) and I really am not a fan of how this poll clumps that up with the other versions.
PSP version I'm also not a huge fan of, I just don't like the brand of HD sprites they used for it, it lacks the nuance that the original had.
3D FF4 is cool, it's a very unique take on the game and I do like the increased depth and challenge it has over the other versions, the remixed soundtrack is terrible though and it's not exactly easy to the eyes.
