Monopoly. The game where the winner is decided about 20 minutes in but you play for another two hours until only one peson has all the money and properties. I am a sucker for themed Monopoly sets but I won't play the game without a gun to my head.
My 4 year old son enjoyed it but then his benchmark is lower as he hasn't seen Apocalypse Now yet. As popcorn fodder it was a 5 for me. I would put the first as a 6 or 7. My score may change once it hits streaming and I see it 50 more times.
I would wait for streaming as I did with the first but I'm taking my son to see it to get him used to going to the cinema and he has watched the first one way more times than I would have liked to have watched it.
In no rush to play it so I will be waiting for an eshop sale as no point in buying a game key card for me as the it is going to take up console storage anyway.
I went round my mates as a kid and he had a NES and I saw that shiny gold cart but wasn't allowed to play it as all the saves were taken for. Didn't play it properly until the Wii U Virtual Console version 25 years later.
@EVIL-C I only compared those as it was the biggest franchise equivalent. BOTW was the first Zelda game to really gain mainstream popularity. Definitely not my favourite Zelda but it is definitely a console seller compared to Metroid Prime.
It mainly comes down to games. MK8D > MKW, Super Mario Odyssey > Donkey Kong Bananza, Breath of the Wild > Metroid Prime 4. The latter of which can still be played on a Switch 1. Plus people were finally upgrading from their 11 year old Wii in 2017. The current economic situation is also not helping.
I love Prince of Persia and like the gameplay of this. The roguelike nature of the game kills it for me. I am 5 hours in on Xbox and still getting barely anywhere in the game. I feel like I am making no progress. Takes ages just to increase a level for an upgrade. 10 hours sounds very optimistic for me. I'd be surprised if I don't at least double that.
Very previously had the Switch 2 for £409 with MKW plus an extra 10% off if you took.it on credit so £368.10. Cheaper if you promise to pay within 12 months than straight away.
I assume these events will loop around. I just 100% the game last night and I am in no rush for Emerald Rush now. Going back to Age of Calamity to finish that DLC before Age of Imprisonment in couple of weeks which shows how quickly I get round to DLC.
@Bats1234 I bought Kirby on Switch 1 and the upgrade pack as it was cheaper. Some people just opt for the simpler option or just don't know that you can upgrade I guess. Or they just love the red carts and big red banner on the case.
@Hank_Scorpio Digital Foundry really need to get you on their books with that level of insight. Who needs a 20 minute video breaking down each individual pixel and the speed at which they move.
They know they will sell millions of copies so they can afford to keep the price low and the low price point ensures many early adopters as well. Games that sell in the thousands haven't got that luxury.
I hate the term buttery smooth. When I think of butter I think of respreading to get an even coating and sometimes going back for more. It's rarely a smooth process for me no matter how soft the butter is.
@N00BiSH I am not a fan of watching video games being played but I understand that some do. My problem as I get older is that I am becoming less patient about people talking slower than I can read information.
@N00BiSH Fair enough. A lot of waffle it is then. I'll be at work when it is on so will read the bullet points later. I couldn't even watch the 15 mins of Bananza so 45 mins on this is too much for me.
45 mins seems excessive. You could show half of all the Mario Kart World cups in that time. I've got a feeling there will be a lot of waffle. I'll wait for a summary and a 2 min trailer with a release date.
Still have my copy. Still in my backlog 20 years later. Articles like this almost make me bust the game out and get it removed from my backlog. Almost.
@WiltonRoots People are already chuntering over game key cards so the logical conclusion would be riots if they are more expensive. This may also be interpreted as sarcasm.
The price is definitely a factor as well. I bought the game but will likely not buy many more games at full retail in future. £65 is more than I have ever paid for a game before and can't see myself doing that again in a hurry.
@RadioShadow Or maybe it won't play until system date is correct and anyone who manually changes it will screw themselves up as the system.can only have a manual date offline and as soon as you go online it corrects clock and screws future dated saves. You can't innocently get a game early and play it then.
I'll just stuck to cheap ones online. They are useful for holding charging cables as well as keeping dust away. Also protects the sticks when chucking it in a bag. I don't think I need a hole to charge while in the case.
I will get one delivered but am at work interspersed with taking my other half for hospital appointment and looking after my toddler so not going to be able to play until the evening so as long as it is delivered I will have a bash on Mario Kart.
@Zufolobelisk It doesn't really bother me that much to be honest but would very nice for tge people that want it. I haven't really paid attention to the home screen as it looked very much like the original Switch.

Re: Shift Up Will Self-Publish The Stellar Blade Sequel To Reach A "Broad Global Audience"
I thought Will Self was making a Switch game for a second.
Re: The Mario Galaxy Movie's Digital Release Date May Be A Little Later Than We First Thought
Give it a bit more time to get to the billion dollar mark hopefully.
Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?
I played it for a little while apparently, which puts it at under an hour according to the eshop app.
Re: Talking Point: If The Star Fox Rumours Are True, Where The Heck's Our Captain Toad Sequel?
I'd be down for more Treasure Tracker goodness. Played it on the Wii U and Switch and wish I had the game on 3DS for a 3rd pass at it.
Re: Unsurprisingly, The Mario Galaxy Movie Is Already 2026's Biggest Box Office Hit
It will be the first to pass $1 billion but it will definitely fall to Spider-Man but I'm pretty sure Toy Story 5 will beat it first.

Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase Announced For Tomorrow, 5th February 2026
@BroskiPlaysYT Getting GTA V thirteen years after Sony and Microsoft and just as they get GTA VI would be a bit of a kick in the teeth to be honest.

Re: Your Nintendo Switch 'Year In Review 2025' Won't Arrive Until Next Month
Hopefully Nintendo starts the trend of an actual year in review. You can't hide your guilty pleasures in December then.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - SNES Classic Mini Console
Never did like the American SNES design with its Parma Violet buttons. I don't like Parma Violets so that doesn't help.
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders Live, Switch 2 Pro Controller And Amiibo Confirmed
I want that Reside Vil controller.
Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free
Not the Metroid Prime Trilogy news I wanted.

Re: Reminder: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Hardware Bundle Now Available
It's only worth getting if you don't want Mario Kart World as the bundle is the same price and MKW is more ezpensive separately.

Can you not just purchase via the website and then it downloads automatically to the console or is that not working either?

What game are 90% of people going to guess at appearing now when the next direct is announced?
Re: PSA: Switch Online Offering "Two Bonus Months" With 12-Month Memberships (Europe)
You can usually find keys for a year in the UK for around £25 for the expansion pack so this deal doesn't work out better than that per month.

This isn't going to help push past the PS2 record.

The Switch 2 version better not be more expensive or there will be riots in the streets.

Re: Danger Mouse Is Back With A New Game Tie-In For The Switch
I thought the characters were going to look like that horrible cover art in the game. Luckily they are more like the show.

I bet it's so they can sell it twice to households in Japan that are using their old Switch 1 as well as the Switch 2.
Re: NBA 2K26 Shoots Some Hoops On Switch 2 "This Fall"
Probably need at least a 512gb card installed to be able to play the game.

In the US shouldn't Fantasy Life be number 1 download only? There is no physical version in the US.

I paid for mine from Argos in UK 2 months ago nearly. Hoping I don't get a last minute cancellation.
