@HugoGED I'm with you on this. If a game is exclusively digital or key card then I just won't buy it for Switch. Yes, that is me missing out due to my own principles but so be it, it wasn't meant to be for me playing said game.

Like you, if it does come out physically on PS5 as well and complete on disc, then I'll happily buy it and play on there instead, as I don't all that often play Switch handheld anyway!

@KociolekDoSyta It made me smile reading that you now have 300 physical games on cart. I think I'm similar to that, and couldn't be happier - what a great collection of games I'm sure we both have, and they are forever ours if we want them to be!

I think the small publishers like Super Rare will continue to release like before, however most likely scrutinise games for their popularity considering increased pricing, to ensure any releases they offer are going to sell.

It's clear we are going to be paying the cost for the 64GB carts (should no other options be available) but it'll need to be a popular game for people to instead pay £50. I wonder if they will continue to release Switch 1 games for much longer than originally planned, considering their forward compatibility.

I'm the most excited to play this on release than I have any other game in a long time, probably since Mario 64 was releasing, and I'm not a Nintendo fangirl, I enjoy all consoles and game companies pretty much equally. It just feels like this is going to be a pure, fun packed game which doesn't take itself too seriously.

Anyone else similar? 😊

I think I'll get this if they do a physical, maybe from Super Rare Games like their last few.

@Zuljaras How is COTW? I like the look of it, but it seems a bit stiff in the animation and controls?

Impressive, but also wait and see if the momentum is sustained.

DK Bananza should help keep it going, and Metroid Prime 4 later in the year, but I don't see it selling nearly as many as the original Switch, unless we have a repeat of a pandemic and increase in disposable income.

Nintendo being Nintendo. A shame, but a move that shocks absolutely nobody I expect.

They could have at least allowed it to pair with an original Switch so that I could pass on my original. Poor from Nintendo.

I'm particularly excited about this because this release feels like it's from the Nintendo we know they can be, a game packed full of interesting ideas and what I can imagine ends up to be a lot of fun.

Would he get that excited over another port of the game? I really enjoyed the game, so it would be nice to open it up to even more players, and it'd be good news if this is the case.

I'm interested to know if the original plays any better on the Switch 2, as I may then be tempted to pick it up.

Interesting to see the numbers for people buying the two Zelda's, and the split across the systems. I wonder how many of those are deliberately saving money with the original Switch releases over the S2 editions. If they have NSO, and aren't hardcore physical collectors, it makes complete sense.

I suspect the original releases would have received a price bump though to make it less appealing.

I can see the appeal, but just too limited for me to warrant a purchase.

@splinters Thank you. Do you know if it's possible to share my save game data/account across both as well? Would be nice to make progress on one console and then pick up where I left off on the other.

Actually, I think virtual game cards are related to digital purchases/downloads only, and I'm thinking about using S1 physical carts on both consoles.

@splinters I'm reluctant to give up my OLED, thinking that I might run both of them, at least for the time being, and maybe until a possible improved S2 model (hopefully OLED, despite the increased cost!) is released some way into the lifespan of the console.

@contractcooker No, I mean does the S2 battery last longer playing S1 games on it than S2 games. Maybe I wasn't clear, but this is what I was wondering.

@Truegamer79 With a manual included, I would be shocked if it's just a code in the box as that wouldn't make sense for the demographic they are going for with the physical. Also, as it's an S1 release, there won't be a game key card.

@splinters I'm wondering if playing S1 games on the S2 would mean more battery life, as opposed to arguably more 'demanding' S2 games being played on the system.

Do most games for the original Switch last a lot longer (battery life) than the Switch 2 releases? I know it doesn't exactly work like that, but interested to know, as a lot of those games aren't likely to push the hardware quite as hard.

Anyone who has the physical of this on S2 able to comment if the full game is on the cartridge, or does it require a patch/content download, for the upgrade pack for example? I know the DLC is separate, which is crazy, but not my question.

It's also on Amazon if for some reason you don't want to use the Silver Lining website. Although at the time of ordering, they had the listings for PS5 and Switch a little mixed up.

Never been a fan of the blue shell. Can you still outrun it though with a bit of skill/the right items?

Despite my disappointment that it doesn't come with an OLED panel, I think it'll be at least a few years before any revision, and as others say, I expect it to cost even more than this one, pushing maybe £500.

Chances are, if something good comes out that I want to play, and backward compatibility is improved even more, I'll sell my OLED and get this, then sell it a little before the OLED revision which hopefully has an improved battery. I have an amazing OLED TV for docked mode, so I won't be completely missing out.

I think like many others, the price of the system is pretty reasonable. What surprises me a bit more is that the cost of living is supposedly biting more than ever, and I thought it might be a bit of a slower uptake for that reason.

Maybe it's not as bad as I thought globally 🙂

@Medic_alert Thank you. So do we think Nintendo are locking a few settings behind a paid patch? Unless I missed it, I didn't see anything in this mini review to say Nintendo have improved the textures.

This is the only racing game where I play with this view, and wouldn't use the chase cam (on the PS1 version), whereas with every other game I'd hate to race with this view 😂

The best game in the Yakuza series by some distance for me. The Japanese voice actor performances and story kept me playing right through to the end.

If anyone is playing this on the Switch 2 without the upgrade pack and could comment on if it's noticeably enhanced as is, I would appreciate it.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, I gather Nintendo have upgraded the game to 4K/60 by default with the pack, and without it'll just upscale to 4K and probably run at 60 with the better hardware behind it.

Sounds like this pack is potentially a waste unless you're interested in Zelda Notes.

I'm pleased that I didn't get the S2 and this game on release now based on the mixed views of the game.

My hope is that in the years to come, it becomes a much more content heavy game (particularly in the open world areas) and I'll pick it up then I think. If it doesn't change much from how it is now, I'll probably pass and carry on with MK8D.

@MrGawain Unfortunately, the vast majority of consumers do not frequent sites like this and will just buy what they see, without knowing what the implications of these things might be.

I'm sad this is a thing, but if it at least replaces 'code in a box', that's something. My main issue was Nintendo only offering one cart size to publishers as more will go down this route now.

I played Y0 on the Xbox. Absolutely loved this one, and my favourite by a distance.

@KayFiOS I'm a little nervous too, as I have over 300 physical games, a decent number which aren't 'mainstream' releases by any stretch, and so if they do have issues I'm not sure they would ever get a patch.

As I did with the original, I'll get a second dock, power supply and travel case so that I can leave my main one in place. I don't think a spare dock is available in the UK yet though is it?

Interested to know how the data transfer works between a Switch and Switch 2, as I won't have one for a little while, but am selling my original unit soon. I assume that to not lose my save data I'm going to need to have both together, and the NSO save data backup won't be good enough.

@MrGawain I feel similar. I had one 'in the bag' up until recently, but decided that MKW wasn't enough of a draw for me. If it wasn't just an evolution of the existing Switch, I'd have been much more likely to keep my pre-order.

As it is, I'll play on my OLED model for a bit longer, and assess again when the likes of DK Bananza and Metroid Prime 4 are available, assuming they are good of course. Slightly better looking Zelda's and Kirby appeal, but not enough to drop £400.

I cancelled my pre-order yesterday morning after thinking hard about what games I'll get to experience early in the life of the console, considering I have a massive Switch back log of games still to get through. Part of the reasoning was that even though the display is a very good one, I'm a little disappointed it wasn't OLED, even if it would have cost more money. Chances are I'll get one before they do a revision but we'll see.

Unusual for me as I always get a new console on launch day, so this will be a first for me in a really long time not to!

I pre-ordered as soon as this was announced, I think it looks great.

The base version on physical does seem to be quite expensive, though you can't deny it has had a lot of love and effort poured into it, particularly as they are a relatively small team.

This has been listed on Amazon UK for a while and there isn't any image or text to suggest it is a code in a box for Switch, so I'm hopeful that it won't be.

I hope that it does well, and I'm interested at this point but I don't know that it would draw anyone in due to the Pac-Man link with it being as far away from one of those games as it could be.

What a shame, but better than releasing before it's anywhere near ready. I think it will be released on Switch 2, definitely.

I wonder if this could work with the Switch 2 mouse feature. I guess it could end up being a much better experience if so?

I keeping thinking of FIST when I see this, but anywhere I have seen talk about RR, that game isn't mentioned.

@larryisaman That's interesting, I thought there was only Playtime in Sheffield. A shame I never got to visit that one. Is the independent shop any good? Might be tempted to visit one day when I'm at the Dome, Lakeside or Frenchgate.

Yes, Mike Ashley appears to have done what he usually does! 😐 I like that we too have a CeX and Smyths but it just isn't the same as back then with Electronics Boutique, Beatties, Dixons, Woolworths and so on. I should have been playing with Barbie maybe, but always preferred browsing games 😂
