@Olliemar28 I'm trying to decide whether to get it on Switch or PS5 physically, so I just want to clarify, you weren't that put off by the frame dips when they happened, and secondly, did you try it docked? If you did, how did it look blown up on a bigger screen?
I have a 65-inch OLED and if it looks a bit blurry or soft I would probably go for PS5.
@Kingy I haven't played Wonder yet, but I have heard people suggest it can be annoying. Do you know if there a way to turn that off, and if so, is anything worthwhile missed from doing it?
I ordered the amiibo and then cancelled it as I wasn't as fussed on it as I thought. Wasn't interested in using it for the dress, and would have kept it in the box 😊
@LazyDaisy Agreed. I wonder if they even tried Kate to see if she could do it, before approaching Jenny. I suspect not, as I, like you think she could have done it just fine.
Despite it not being perfect, I hope enough people give this a chance. Are we signalling that an average game can be released and is accepted, or that something a little different, at least for Pac Man and Bandai Namco, is what people appreciate and want more of?
@Coalescence Thank you, I forgot about Mario Run. Just downloaded FE which hopefully isn't too grindy for the missions. I don't currently have NSO so that's out for now 😊
@kuu_nousee Really? The S2 edition in Japan is a full release on a cart? Interesting!
Edit - Just seen on the Amazon JP listing - 'The package version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a flyer with a code that can download Shadow Labyrinth Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, not a game card.'
A little odd it's just the Switch 1 data with a code to download the S2 update, when the S2 update is free anyway.
The biggest criticism I see of Mario Odyssey is related to the moons and how watered down they feel to get considering the number of them, unlike the stars in Mario 64 for example.
I'm wondering if there is any similar feeling in this game with regards to the collectables? I suppose this is a question for Jim or someone that has already played it.
I really enjoyed the Super Mario Bros Movie (the original, not the most recent one) back when I was really young, and based on the general consensus for that film, it's likely I'll love this with my bar being so low! 😂
I have wondered if something like this would help me, but I already find the Switch 2 a bit heavy for prolonged play, it makes my hands and wrists ache a bit and for some reason I keep knocking the right analogue stick when pressing the B button which was not a problem on my OLED S1.
@AG_Awesome Like you, I potentially have a big enough collection and backlog that I could spend my entire life playing these and I might not catch up!
I have found the Switch 2 has given me a love for working through my backlog (and therefore playing Switch games) again, what with the improved performance in many games and the fabulous Pro 2 controller.
Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I have been playing this and loving it. Sadly I would consider myself a veteran who has lost a little bit of that edge I used to have when playing games for 5+ hours as day in my younger days! I don't get anywhere near as much time now, so this is perfect.
Yes it's not massively taxing, but it's not extremely simple and provides just enough of a test to make you think a little bit to give me at least a good satisfaction loop. Nothing in the game overstays its welcome and there is a tweak on a level gimmick for most of them.
@The_Nintend_Pedant What is absolutely crazy is that I fully completed Mario Galaxy on the Wii, and bought Mario Galaxy 2 on release but have to this day, never opened my copy or played it. I think there is something wrong with me 😂
Good to know it's really very good though, if not quite as much as the original game. I still have my Wii boxed somewhere, so maybe it'll soon be time to get it out and play it!
I can see that you don't get the full data on the cart for a Switch 1 copy, and it's only a download code for Switch 2, so that'll be a reason for me not to buy a physical of this. I wonder if you get the full game for PS5 and/or Xbox on the disc, but I doubt it.
It's a shame the original structure isn't there for 4, and wonder if they could have had both, with this way they have done it being the default and an 'old school' mode to toggle or something could have made it like before. The music too, but I suppose it is better having the game like this than them not releasing it at all. You can always go and play the original any time.
If anyone sees this comment who has played it on Switch 2, let me know with a mention reply please as to whether the performance is much improved. Thank you.
@Pipulitoch It's not funny but it made me laugh as you summed up how I feel with this too sometimes.
Not quite as bad as the film industry in my view, where they release a normal version, then a steelbook, then an anniversary edition, then maybe another steelbook with art cards and a booklet, and so on. All while rarely adding to or changing the actual film/movie content itself. Constant re-releases and 'ultra limited editions'
@Jhena Unfortunately for me, I played it on release and loved it - still do. Really fit the times it was released in, but then I think it still does.
Proud owner of Wipeout, Wipeout 2097 and Wip3out for the PS1, especially 2097 which built upon the great original. I'll never forget the first time I heard Firestarter by Prodigy when racing down a track 😂
@Orwellian87 Agreed, it had some of the best music of any game at the time I think, and it still holds up even now. The AI is awful, which is being kind though, and I would hope they can make some improvements should they bring this to a modern audience.
@The_Nintend_Pedant Sorry, yes, you're right about the trilogy. I forgot about that and remember my friend having MPT on Wii, not GC.
How you both describe it makes a lot of sense, and I can see the appeal of both control schemes. For someone who played the originals, I can understand why it could feel somewhat different, whether it be the flow or gameplay itself. As I didn't, I had no idea!
@Beaucine This is interesting. I never ended up playing the MP trilogy on Gamecube (one of the only consoles I never owned and still don't!) so my first proper experience of MP is the Remastered release, so I did wrongly assume it was an FPS.
@Crimson_Ridley I think this style is hideous personally, but each to their own and if someone likes it, I won't judge. I have a couple of pairs of Crocs sandals as they are a little bit easier on the eye I think - they look better to me 😂
I understand Microsoft having to make certain cuts when it becomes clear something isn't working out and money is being thrown at a project you can tell isn't going to work out before it is finished, or will not sell well, but there have been so many errors made by their management that they must take account themselves too.
They won't, but I think Phil and some of the other team should leave for overseeing such failures, and with alarming regularity.
I picked this up for £1.59 on PS5, and will see if I can enjoy it. It sounds like it could be something I really get on with, or the complete opposite!
If I do enjoy it, I will probably pick up the Switch or PS5 physical.
@HugoGED I'm with you on this. If a game is exclusively digital or key card then I just won't buy it for Switch. Yes, that is me missing out due to my own principles but so be it, it wasn't meant to be for me playing said game.
Like you, if it does come out physically on PS5 as well and complete on disc, then I'll happily buy it and play on there instead, as I don't all that often play Switch handheld anyway!
@KociolekDoSyta It made me smile reading that you now have 300 physical games on cart. I think I'm similar to that, and couldn't be happier - what a great collection of games I'm sure we both have, and they are forever ours if we want them to be!
I think the small publishers like Super Rare will continue to release like before, however most likely scrutinise games for their popularity considering increased pricing, to ensure any releases they offer are going to sell.
It's clear we are going to be paying the cost for the 64GB carts (should no other options be available) but it'll need to be a popular game for people to instead pay £50. I wonder if they will continue to release Switch 1 games for much longer than originally planned, considering their forward compatibility.
I'm the most excited to play this on release than I have any other game in a long time, probably since Mario 64 was releasing, and I'm not a Nintendo fangirl, I enjoy all consoles and game companies pretty much equally. It just feels like this is going to be a pure, fun packed game which doesn't take itself too seriously.
Impressive, but also wait and see if the momentum is sustained.
DK Bananza should help keep it going, and Metroid Prime 4 later in the year, but I don't see it selling nearly as many as the original Switch, unless we have a repeat of a pandemic and increase in disposable income.
I'm particularly excited about this because this release feels like it's from the Nintendo we know they can be, a game packed full of interesting ideas and what I can imagine ends up to be a lot of fun.

Still interested I think, and only £24.99 in the UK for a physical copy. Reasonable.
