Re: Review: Shadow Labyrinth - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Sometimes 'Good Enough' Is Just That

Ellie-Moo

@kuu_nousee Really? The S2 edition in Japan is a full release on a cart? Interesting!

Edit - Just seen on the Amazon JP listing - 'The package version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a flyer with a code that can download Shadow Labyrinth Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, not a game card.'

A little odd it's just the Switch 1 data with a code to download the S2 update, when the S2 update is free anyway.

Re: Opinion: Honestly, I'm So Glad We Had To Wait For Donkey Kong Bananza

Ellie-Moo

@AG_Awesome Like you, I potentially have a big enough collection and backlog that I could spend my entire life playing these and I might not catch up!

I have found the Switch 2 has given me a love for working through my backlog (and therefore playing Switch games) again, what with the improved performance in many games and the fabulous Pro 2 controller.

Re: Review: Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Switch) - An Easygoing, Kid-Friendly Remake That's Just Fine

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I have been playing this and loving it. Sadly I would consider myself a veteran who has lost a little bit of that edge I used to have when playing games for 5+ hours as day in my younger days! I don't get anywhere near as much time now, so this is perfect.

Yes it's not massively taxing, but it's not extremely simple and provides just enough of a test to make you think a little bit to give me at least a good satisfaction loop. Nothing in the game overstays its welcome and there is a tweak on a level gimmick for most of them.

9/10 for me!

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza, Like Mario Kart World, Was Initially Planned For Switch 1

Ellie-Moo

@The_Nintend_Pedant What is absolutely crazy is that I fully completed Mario Galaxy on the Wii, and bought Mario Galaxy 2 on release but have to this day, never opened my copy or played it. I think there is something wrong with me 😂

Good to know it's really very good though, if not quite as much as the original game. I still have my Wii boxed somewhere, so maybe it'll soon be time to get it out and play it!

Ellie-Moo

It's a shame the original structure isn't there for 4, and wonder if they could have had both, with this way they have done it being the default and an 'old school' mode to toggle or something could have made it like before. The music too, but I suppose it is better having the game like this than them not releasing it at all. You can always go and play the original any time.

Re: 'Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced' Announced For Switch

Ellie-Moo

@Pipulitoch It's not funny but it made me laugh as you summed up how I feel with this too sometimes.

Not quite as bad as the film industry in my view, where they release a normal version, then a steelbook, then an anniversary edition, then maybe another steelbook with art cards and a booklet, and so on. All while rarely adding to or changing the actual film/movie content itself. Constant re-releases and 'ultra limited editions'

Re: Exclusive: Upcoming Fast Fusion Update For Switch 2 Introduces Photo Mode

Ellie-Moo

@Jhena Unfortunately for me, I played it on release and loved it - still do. Really fit the times it was released in, but then I think it still does.

Proud owner of Wipeout, Wipeout 2097 and Wip3out for the PS1, especially 2097 which built upon the great original. I'll never forget the first time I heard Firestarter by Prodigy when racing down a track 😂

Re: Review: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster (Switch) - The Best Way To Play BioShock's Spiritual Predecessor

Ellie-Moo

@The_Nintend_Pedant Sorry, yes, you're right about the trilogy. I forgot about that and remember my friend having MPT on Wii, not GC.

How you both describe it makes a lot of sense, and I can see the appeal of both control schemes. For someone who played the originals, I can understand why it could feel somewhat different, whether it be the flow or gameplay itself. As I didn't, I had no idea!

Re: Romero Games Hit With Layoffs Following Microsoft Xbox Cuts

Ellie-Moo

I understand Microsoft having to make certain cuts when it becomes clear something isn't working out and money is being thrown at a project you can tell isn't going to work out before it is finished, or will not sell well, but there have been so many errors made by their management that they must take account themselves too.

They won't, but I think Phil and some of the other team should leave for overseeing such failures, and with alarming regularity.

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Ellie-Moo

@HugoGED I'm with you on this. If a game is exclusively digital or key card then I just won't buy it for Switch. Yes, that is me missing out due to my own principles but so be it, it wasn't meant to be for me playing said game.

Like you, if it does come out physically on PS5 as well and complete on disc, then I'll happily buy it and play on there instead, as I don't all that often play Switch handheld anyway!

Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing

Ellie-Moo

I think the small publishers like Super Rare will continue to release like before, however most likely scrutinise games for their popularity considering increased pricing, to ensure any releases they offer are going to sell.

It's clear we are going to be paying the cost for the 64GB carts (should no other options be available) but it'll need to be a popular game for people to instead pay £50. I wonder if they will continue to release Switch 1 games for much longer than originally planned, considering their forward compatibility.

Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Donkey Kong Bananza

Ellie-Moo

I'm the most excited to play this on release than I have any other game in a long time, probably since Mario 64 was releasing, and I'm not a Nintendo fangirl, I enjoy all consoles and game companies pretty much equally. It just feels like this is going to be a pure, fun packed game which doesn't take itself too seriously.

Anyone else similar? 😊
