I really would love it if something like this came States-side. I've been lucky enough to go to the North American Pokemon Center popups with the World Championships, and I'd love it if something else came by too.
Obviously, the best case scenario is a mix of Virtual Console and NSO Nintendo Classics. However, I wouldn't mind if this was a way to bring certain systems to the Switch/Switch 2 libraries. If Nintendo needs to do a bit of work to DC, 3DS, Wii, or Wii U games to make them future proof, I don't mind them being VC releases. And as others have said, it would be brilliant for Pokemon.
@SpaceboyScreams And if they legitimately have a learning disability they're going to feel that way regardless. It goes beyond motivation. That's borderline disability shaming.
@Yozora146_ This is such an ignorant argument. I've worked in schools in the past. Making kids read video games isn't going to magically solve the literacy crisis. It's just going to make kids not play video games. Adding voice acting is a basic accessibility feature in addition to being a quality of life feature the franchise needs.
@Olliemar28 Is the Dex/Collecting similar to how it was in Arceus? I LOVED catching and researching information to complete the Pokedex, and it looks like that's absent in ZA, and that makes me a lot less interested.
@gwyntendo I hate how this seems accurate at this point. I could see them releasing a port of 3 by itself since it seems like Wii games are getting re-released. I'd truly hate that 2 would just be kinda stuck on NSO.
I also feel the same way about Luigi's Mansion for what it's worth.
@ShieldHero If you're a fan of Metroidvanias, you should definitely play Zero Mission at least for a little bit. It's one of the best remakes of all time, AND it adds extra content at the end. Good stuff. And then if you like it, play the rest.
@Jhena same. That hook of catching all of them was perfect, and I loved basically being a Pokemon researcher. This feels like just a fancy battle game. It's fine for those that want it, but I kinda don't.
@roy130390 Seeing Mistico at All In gave me goosebumps, man. That entrance was so, so special. I love that AEW has done so much to make him feel like the massive deal his is. And bringing Persephone, Hechicero, Templario, and Mascara Dorada to the US has been incredible too. Viva Lucha Libre!!
Maybe instead of comparing it to things that have no relationship to the film at all, we take a look at who's actually working on it.
Wes Ball, who's saying all the right things, has only really done the Maze Runner films, which I have no idea about their quality. I know I'm excited for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and that's my deciding factor on him right now.
So let's look at the writer next. Derek Connolly has actually written scripts for Safety Not Guaranteed (which is a gem of a little film), Kong: Skull Island, and Detective Pikachu. Really, his worst films are ones that he only has story credits on, like the Jurassic World films. It really could go either way.
Lastly, outside of Miyamoto, we have two other producers: Joe Hartwick, Jr. and Avi Arad. Hartwick's mostly worked with Wes Ball. Okay, fine. But Avi Arad is the biggest hack working in Hollywood right now. He's had a stranglehold on every single Spider-Man film, from the brilliance of the Spiderverse films and the Rami trilogy to the complete dumpster fire of the Amazing Spider-Man duology. And let's not forget Venom, Morbius, and Madame Web. And that's JUST Spider-Man stuff. He's currently working on Borderlands and did Uncharted. His video game film resume isn't great.
Of course, it's only in pre-production. It's way to early to determine if this will be any good. All you can really do it look at what's available and make decisions based on that.
I'm really looking forward to playing this at some point. It's exciting to see this game leave Netflix. When I first saw it, I got really excited, but I'm kind of done with them at the moment.
The Wolfenstein reboot made me a fan of Machinegames, and I was planning on getting a XSX eventually, so I'm really excited about the possibility of more old school FPS games.
@Grumblevolcano I could see the original Luigi's Mansion being re-released for the Switch 2 rather than the current model. That would maybe give it enough to work with.
Or it could be a future Direct shadowdrop. Who knows?
I really hope they add some more titles to the NA Black Friday list. I'm hopeful that something like Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe or Bayonetta Origins ends up there.
While I'm sad that I had to cancel my preorder (money is starting to get tight around this holiday season), I'm definitely using Christmas money to pick it up.
This one's a wait for a discount for me. I have too much stuff I'm interested in at the moment to focus on WarioWare. Plus, $50US seems like a bit much for something I wouldn't play all the time.
Man, they are really, really, REALLY drip-feeding us the GBA/GB games. It feels like the missing N64 games are an afterthought, let alone anything new-ish.

@MoldyPasta Hard no. Let them do their own thing and not be a slave to TPC.

Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free
@Inc There's too much of a precedent for Wii games to get their own ports on the Switch to suggest they'd consider adding Wii games to NSO.
Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free
@N00BiSH Right? They're going to drop 2 on the Gamecube NSO app, and we'll be lucky to get 3 for the same price as Mario Galaxy digitally.
MAYBE they'll drop a compilation like they did with Pikmin 1+2. Maybe.
