@AverageGamer it depends on when in Gen Z someone was born, like how Zoollennials exist who blur the lines between Zoomers and Millennials. I'm sure there are some Zalphas in the mix.
I know this is somewhat off topic, but if you're also a Pac-Maniac, I can't recommend Pac-Man: Birth of an Icon by Arjan Terpstra and Tim Lapetino. It's an incredible account of the creation of the video game and its spin-offs. It has a lot about the original arcade games and very early home ports, but if you're a fan of game history, it's so worth it.
And the weird promotional artwork, especially from the Atari versions, is incredible.
I paid $20 for it on Amazon in 2021, and to me it was alright for the price. I viewed it more as getting a free game with two AC amiibo tbh. I had fun with it once. It may be a little uneventful, but I think it would develop a cult following if it came out now.
@jsty3105 The real tragedy is that this has spread to other companies. It's insane to me that the base version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales is still $50. If this means I have to condition myself to absolutely wait for sales, I will. Or, alternatively, stop making games so overbloated.
@HingryHuppo I'm not saying it's right, but the business side of Nintendo truly has a strong corporate culture and the trauma that comes with it.
That corporate trauma is the same reason I think they haven't lowered the price of games for what it's worth. They are so desperate to never repeat the failures of the Wii U era that they make bad decisions for consumers.
@HingryHuppo Early gaming is full of companies suing other companies over patent and copyright infringement. Nintendo's the only one left, and suing people is part of their DNA for better or worse.
Almost everything with gaming is getting more expensive as a whole. Additionally, game carts are more expensive than disks. If Sony and Microsoft aren't discounting their games after a certain price anymore, why should Nintendo?
If you wanna get mad at anyone, it's not Nintendo.
@Maxz I think the Wonder design is what did it for me. It's like I only had room in by brain for two different Mario designs, and as soon as Wonder hit, the movie one went away.
I am so, so happy about this selection. Currently, I have 15 Switch 1 games left on my wishlist. This will help me knock out 4! I've been really patient with Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Princess Peach Showtime. I liked what I played, but not enough to pay full price (especially again for DKCR, even if I ADORE that game). I've also been meaning to get Echoes of Wisdom and Paper Mario, so this'll sweeten those deals. I do regret not getting Mario Party Superstars when it was on sale a few years ago, but here's hoping it'll be part of the MAR10 Day sale.
I'm hoping that this does well enough to cause Nintendo to release more of the OSTs in the West officially. I'd consider doing this for almost all the Mario games or the other Zeldas. Just not BOTW.
How in-depth of a management sim are the Two Point games? I tried Planet Zoo, and I wanted to love it so, so much, but it was just too complicated for what I wanted in a zoo builder game. Jurassic World Evolution is a bit better, but I'd prefer animals over dinos (And honestly, Jurassic Park over World, but that's a different conversation).
@IronMan30 it helps that this is the type of game that only really needs a sequel after 20ish years. Or because the previous one isn't available on current hardware.
@AverageGamer It's also who only Nintendo can get away with them any more. Directs/States of Play/Whatever Microsoft Does only matter for first party games. Everything else is underwhelming because you're right. They want the spotlight.
@Solid_Python I have it on PS5 (I haven't played it yet lmao), and while I don't have a Switch 2 yet, knowing there's cross progression makes me consider buying it on Switch 2 so I can keep playing on the go.
Oh man, cross-progression makes this really, really tempting. Does Outlaws have that too? Ubi's games get super deep discounts, and I'm definitely tempted to pay like $20 to be able to have that.
I really would love it if something like this came States-side. I've been lucky enough to go to the North American Pokemon Center popups with the World Championships, and I'd love it if something else came by too.
Obviously, the best case scenario is a mix of Virtual Console and NSO Nintendo Classics. However, I wouldn't mind if this was a way to bring certain systems to the Switch/Switch 2 libraries. If Nintendo needs to do a bit of work to DC, 3DS, Wii, or Wii U games to make them future proof, I don't mind them being VC releases. And as others have said, it would be brilliant for Pokemon.
@SpaceboyScreams And if they legitimately have a learning disability they're going to feel that way regardless. It goes beyond motivation. That's borderline disability shaming.
@Yozora146_ This is such an ignorant argument. I've worked in schools in the past. Making kids read video games isn't going to magically solve the literacy crisis. It's just going to make kids not play video games. Adding voice acting is a basic accessibility feature in addition to being a quality of life feature the franchise needs.
@Olliemar28 Is the Dex/Collecting similar to how it was in Arceus? I LOVED catching and researching information to complete the Pokedex, and it looks like that's absent in ZA, and that makes me a lot less interested.
@gwyntendo I hate how this seems accurate at this point. I could see them releasing a port of 3 by itself since it seems like Wii games are getting re-released. I'd truly hate that 2 would just be kinda stuck on NSO.
I also feel the same way about Luigi's Mansion for what it's worth.
@ShieldHero If you're a fan of Metroidvanias, you should definitely play Zero Mission at least for a little bit. It's one of the best remakes of all time, AND it adds extra content at the end. Good stuff. And then if you like it, play the rest.
@Jhena same. That hook of catching all of them was perfect, and I loved basically being a Pokemon researcher. This feels like just a fancy battle game. It's fine for those that want it, but I kinda don't.

@canaryfarmer Digital Download articles are for the big digital titles. I think they're also more frequent.

Re: "Consumers Generally Do Not Care" About AI In Games, Says Former Square Enix Exec
@ElkinFencer10 @The21zonz yeah, this is a complete mislabel of who this guy thinks he's talking about. This is a Gen Alpha thing more than Gen Z.
Re: Surprise! Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Is Available Now On Switch & Switch 2
Are the remaster trilogies any good? Like do they run/play well? I'm asking this in general, not just the Switch ports.

Re: Mini Review: Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration - The Namco Legendary Pack (Switch) - Another Brilliant Digital Eclipse DLC
@Rykdrew Activision would have to be a pretty major expansion for the game, but I would completely welcome it.
And maybe some licensed games too, especially for later systems.

@Viator_ Yeah, TPC loves money, so of course they're going to go with the cheaper options.

@LastFootnote for what it's worth, someone said it was around 10 GB, which isn't awful.

@Inc There's too much of a precedent for Wii games to get their own ports on the Switch to suggest they'd consider adding Wii games to NSO.
Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free
@N00BiSH Right? They're going to drop 2 on the Gamecube NSO app, and we'll be lucky to get 3 for the same price as Mario Galaxy digitally.
MAYBE they'll drop a compilation like they did with Pikmin 1+2. Maybe.
