Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Checking Out Switch Online's Virtual Boy Service?

DoorToMundane

Unless I can play it on my screen, this is going to be a hard pass for me. I tried Virtual Boy as a younger fellow and it gave me a headache after five minutes. And I'm afraid even after all this time, I'm somewhat weery of anything involving a heavy piece of plastic on my face, so this is even more of a "thanks but no thanks." A shame, really, because there are some games I'd like to try that look fun.

TLDR version: No Virtual Lab, No Buys.

Re: Star Wars: Hunters Servers To Close Later This Year

I had genuinely forgotten that this was even a thing that existed... and soon it will cease to be...

Honestly, I never gave this one much thought. Was never too fond of F2P games of any sort and anything I've seen of Hunters only made me want to play the old Battlefront games instead.

Oh, well... another one bites the dust, I suppose.

Re: Review: Castlevania Dominus Collection (Switch) - The Strongest Konami Compilation Yet

DoorToMundane

Every company is terrible in their own special way. Therefore, no one should be supporting them on that basis. Other than that, I have no real opinion on the matter.

Collection is great, though. Never cared for the stylus gimmickry of Dawn, so I'm pleased that Magic Seals can be done with button prompts while retaining stylus functionality for those who'd want to keep it authentic and such. Haunted Castle remake also does a fine job of making a jank old arcade title seem much less jank. A nice surprise from Konami, for once.

This isn't going to be another Ninjabread Man/Anubis II/Rock N' Roll Adventures scenario where it's basically the same game under the hood, but they just swapped out the graphics, is it? Because that's what it looks like.

I'm sure the games will be fine since WayForward tends to do good stuff, but the whole thing comes across as interchangeable and generic. Here's hoping that's not actually the case.

Re: Atari Acquires Intellivision Brand And Rights To 200+ Titles

So I guess Amicovision is no longer a thing. A pity. I was looking forward to such cool jaw-dropping classics like Cornhole or Finnegan Fox*.

In all serious, the most I'm hoping out of this deal is that we get the Intellivision equivalent of an Atari 50 compilation. Not so much for the games, but more for the historical overview so people could about the brand beyond something that was prostituted to sell a bill of goods.

On an unrelated note... can Atari buy Coleco next?

*Yes, I already know about Fox N Forests. It didn't make my jaw drop.

Re: Review: Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection (Switch) - Riddled With Issues, This Is

@LadyCharlie It's worse on PC, which is a baffling 70GB (approximately). And the visual quality isn't any better than the old PC versions, which are still available for purchase on Steam or GOG for far cheaper, take up less space, and they still play wonderfully.

Sure, you don't have the extra maps and Hero Assault is relegated to a map or two, but that extra stuff simply didn't warrant the extra bloat. I love me some Battlefront and the more the merrier, but I'm more than content with the old PC versions.

Maybe I'll get the Switch version when it's on the cheap somewhere down the line, but right now, this deal is very bad and I'm glad to NOT be a part of it.
