June 14th 2021, E3: we open our Nintendo Direct with Weird hylian script and glowy blue stuff. It's the new Zelda game trailer fully revealing all the goods! However it is delayed until March 2022. The trailer to follow is one for the expansion pass for Hyrule Warriors which will all be preview content for the new game and the first batch will release following the presentation.
This is gonna be. Great weekend for video games!! I am house sitting for my friend and they have a PS5! Lol so I'll be blasting through Astrobot. Other than that I want to binge Hyper Light Drifter and wrap up Bowser's Inside Story.
@MeloMan how is the Messanger??? I know that dev is currently working on an RPG that looks sliiiiick, and apparently they are setting it in the same universe. The Messanger isn't my usual cup of tea, but should I give it a go?
@Mgene15 I hear that, but I also didn't want to hold that against this release, you know? Like that's for sure a "me problem" and the game is still good! It's just not what it was then.
I'm still having fun with Pokemon Snap, and realizing that part of the magic of the original was as all of the kids in my neighborhood who were also playing it and talking over solutions with me. It's a different game when you are a sad adult lol.
Pokemon Snap is very good, but I feel like I can't play it for too long at a time. I will be playing Ori and the Will O the Wisps, it's the perfect sequel and improves on Blind Forest in every way!!!
Also I'm playing Bowsers Inside Story on my 3DS. Is pretty good
This is a good line up to go I to E3 with. Nintendo is putting out at least one first party title a month and in doing so they have titles that appeal to all sorts of people. Famicom Detective Club, Game Garage, Mario Tennis don't appeal to me, but that's kind of beautiful?
I got Pokemon Snap which is a game I've wanted for 22 years! Skyward Sword without motion controls has been on my most hoped for games of the last 10 years! No More Heroes 3 and The World Ends with you 2 are exciting new additions to old franchises, and there is plenty of time for September-December to get big exciting First party stuff.
Going to also add that it was weird to not see Fire Emblem continue to sell? I'm sure it's doing fine, but Three Houses did for the series what so many other Switch iterations of legacy franchises did for their series. It's brilliant!!
I'm having trouble caring about anything releasing these next two months. This is fine by me, as July has 3 huge games I am very much excited for (World Ends With You, Skyward Sword, Ys 9)
That said, if I do finish my backlog (which is only three games deep!) I think I will try and give Ni No Kuni a chance!
I remember playing BotW and getting to the area with the Shrine Quest that you are solving a puzzle while lightening rains down. I saw the design of that place with the stone mushrooms and immediately said out loud "I'm pretty sure Monolith Soft's art team had a hand in this." And I was right! Lol. Those guys are great
I feel like a legitimate piece of the switch magic of 2017 was that Nintendo was firing on all cylinders and doing the things we'd wanted to see from them. Things that remembered their history but also innovated and surprised us (with the exception of Breath of the wild 0/10 obviously) And Pokemon Snap is some of that magic returning. I'm so excited, I've been excited about it for 22 years
@BananaMetallurgica oh well, let's also wait for some reviews! Lol I am excited for this new one, but I also don't want to lead you astray on a game I've not played yet
@jump the way I understand it, pretty good pictures are so common among younger generations because it is so much more difficult to accumulate wealth and afford actual and tangible nice things. So to go out to eat or to try a new or beautiful food is to have achieved some sort of treat or luxury. I would say most of the people posting food pictures are not on the market for a house
I was following this game since before I knew it was coming to Switch. This is an exciting experience!!! I like to imagine it takes place in the same world as No More Heroes
Also a shout out to Indie directs, they always do a good job highlighting these smaller projects. See also Mulaka
I am trying to finish this brilliant little 3D platformer called Candleman!! I am rather enjoying the mechanics and general feel of being a small light in a dark dark world.
Afterwards I want to give Ori and the Will of the Wisps a go. Blind Forest was a difficult game for me, and I feel like I didn't enjoy it for the first 70% until the mechanics "clicked" I am hoping to enjoy this one all the way through.
Also my Scott Pilgrim vs the World arrived last night, I may be playing co-op with my chums!
Dig 3 I would play and love over and over again. The other two are literally perfect video games
Heist 2 would be excellent as well! I would play it over and over! The mechanics and story are both fascinating
Quest was fine. I am not passionate about the story, or the RPG mechanics they went with. However I am still happy for the idea of a steam world RPG. Even if they kept the same mechanic s I would like to see the universe expanded in the Heist/Dig timeline. That the story was a weird side step into the medival past was the biggest let down.
I just recently played Tower Defense. It's pretty good, but also the hardest game I've ever played and should burn for it. No more of that one please! s
@Durians Darksiders gets mentioned a lot in this thread, and I cannot recommend Darksiders 2 enough. It does not have the same emotional heart as Zelda, but the campy and over the top comic book fantasy is enjoyable in its own right.
There is only one Zelda, as sad as that is. Darksiders is close in many ways
I'm checking in to say I'm such a sourpuss. I don't care for this game. I finished it on Switch after getting through the beginning a few times in various places. I think the hype was just a little too much? I went into the game post Breath of the Wild and hoped it would be a refuge for some dungeoneering, but all of the dungeons are weak as hell. I also think it runs a little too long and didn't care about Issun like I feel I was supposed to
But you know what? I'm glad all of y'all love it. I'm gonna stick with Darksiders. That's the perfect series for people like me who are missing the Twilight Princess type Zelds
I've been playing Ori and the Blind Forest, it's beautiful, but I think I'm gonna give up. I've never played a game that tried so hard to kill me! It's depressing
I don't know if that date is correct for Clive N' Wrench. Also that title looks amazing for people who want a 3D platformer with creative levels and a light hearted theme.
Is it just me, or is this the funniest trailer ever? "Player choices" violence "Quality of life improvements further violence "Upgraded Mechanics" Even more violence
@retro_player_77 naw man. They didn’t have to make it out to be that way. Game-likers are smart.
Castlevannia: Aria of Sorrow was directly followed by Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. They could have called this Bloodstained: Dance of the Moon or something.
Is anyone else a little was that it has a “2” in it? It’s such a signature thing for this series and for Castlevania to have a nonsense Victorian subtitle.
At least make it Bloodstained 2: Circle of the Moon
Dang! I’ve been calling a Super Mario Land remake for ages. They did Metroid 2, and Links Awakening, it only makes sense. I’d prefer 6 Gold Coins though
@RPGamer sure do bud! Kentucky Route Zero is all preorder right now, I’m not sure how many they are making. But Sayonara Wild Hearts copies are in the wild!
Optimistically this could end up being a neat idea. Supposing we all would have been weirded out by the idea of Directs in 2009? I just hope he doesn’t mean Twitter as a long term solution
@Norwegianguy did you purchase them both? Darksiders 1 has such a lame opening couple hours (probably until you get to the Twilight Cathedral/the first “dungeon”) Then the God of War/VERY 2010 game design melts away a little and the art direction and puzzle solving gets stronger.
I always say people should start with 2. It’s beautiful, has better music, a more likable protagonist, and a more interesting opening. The dungeon crawling in that series is just so satisfying to me, and in the wake of Zelda going in a direction that I’m not particularly fond of, it is my very favorite series

Re: Metal Max Xeno: Reborn Is Bringing Its Open-World Tank JRPG Gameplay To The West
This looks so dumb and ugly and I want it soooo bad
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #85 - Dragon Quest
Typically I don't even like Toriyama's art, but it is clearly the winner here.
A fun thought experiment is to imagine all of Dragon Ball in that western high fantasy art style of the NA release

This is such a fun time for Nintendo! I am expecting far too much from e3, but I don't even care anymore!!!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 15th)
@RGH27 @gb_nes_gamer
I just finished this two days ago. Beautiful and perfect sequel. I loved it so much and am so sad that it is over. I hope you love it!

I'm still having fun with Pokemon Snap, and realizing that part of the magic of the original was as all of the kids in my neighborhood who were also playing it and talking over solutions with me. It's a different game when you are a sad adult lol.
I'm also trying to love Scott Pilgrim
Re: "Several" New SteamWorld Games Are Currently In Development
I want more games set after the events of Steamworld Dig 2. I'd be happy with any type of gameplay they choose!!
Re: Rumour: The Next Donkey Kong Is Being Developed By The Super Mario Odyssey Team
I think it is the dropping of the Country in the title that would intrigue me most. What would they do differently? This could be a very unique entry!
Re: 505 Publishing New Game From Metroid And Castlevania Developer MercurySteam
I was hoping they were working on a new 2D Metroid. I guess they could be still?

Clive N Wrench is my number one most anticipated game. Silly as that seems it just looks like the real deal!

I'd like Chibi Robo Clean Sweep to end up on the eshop. But I'm sure that would never happen.

@mauhlin12
The delay of the switch version is criminal!!!
But my copy of Ys: Origins finally shipped so at least I've that until June

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For August And September 2020
Clive N Wrench is the only retail game launching for the rest of the year that I am excited for.
Which is honestly fine by me, but it is interesting
Re: Balan Wonderworld, A 3D Platformer From The Creators Of Sonic The Hedgehog, Is Coming To Switch
This looks so much like NiGHTs... I’m speechless

Re: Untitled Goose Game Might Be Getting A Physical Release On Nintendo Switch
This is perfect for my recent string of “games I passed on originally because I wasn’t ready for them, but OOH physical edition?”
That’s how I got Sexy Brutale, Sayonara Wild Hearts and Kentucky Route Zero.
This would be grand

Super Mario Galaxy is the only good game.
Although I don’t hate her opinion on 3D World! That game owns

Re: NIS America Is Bringing Ys IX: Monstrum Nox To The West In 2021
I know this is just me being greedy, but they REALLY should have put Memories of Celceta on here too. Real shame!

Re: Review: SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated - A Fun 3D Platformer, Despite Some Technical Hitches
Game of the year
Re: Poll: Which Remastered Mario Games Would You Pick For A 'Super Mario All-Stars 2'?
I want the Galaxy games and Sunshine.
64 needs a top down remake in the vein of Spyro Reignited!
I’d also like that for 6 Gold Coins
Re: Video: 12 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In June
@Norwegianguy did you purchase them both?
