Re: Video: 16 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In October

Donutsavant

I have been overwhelmed by great games (just like the rest of us Switch owners) And even though I play them as fast as I can I still get behind!

I have set aside an "achievement system" so that certain games I want to play I can only "unlock" (purchase) after meeting other requirements. For example I can't buy Ghostbusters until I finish Luigi's Mansion. I can't buy The Mana Collection unless I actually play a few hours of it on my SNES Classic. etc.

That only helps with my "b-tier" however. I am still buying like 3 big games a month, which is crazy

There is a truly incredible Tim Rogers review of Dragon Quest 11 that talks about how culturally in Japan, many people play Dragon Quest games as bed time stories for an hour a night on week nights. I’ve decided that is how I will play that game. Slowly and methodically with no pressure. I began the demo like that and I’ll continue to do that until it’s done!

But my main game this weekend should be to finish Link’s Awakening, and then just binge the last game on the Spyro Collection!! Happy weekend!

I was happy to have finished the second Spyro game in the collection the morning I got my hands on Link’s Awakening.

I may power through Zelda, but I am already missing Spyro. I suppose it’s a good problem to have.

Darksiders 2 comes out on thursday, that is one of my very favorites and I couldn’t be more excited.

Re: Microsoft Focused On Launching Ori Sequel Exclusively On Xbox One And PC

Xbox allowing Banjo in Smash, as well as Cuphead/Ori/Lucky’s Tale etc give Microsoft a huge “in” with the Japanese Market. I firmly believe that drives a great deal of their cooperation.

As recently as 2017 I remember reading the XBONX was selling like 200 units in Japan a week. Maybe these games find a few new fans overseas? I think I read Cuphead in Particular did well

This weekend is the last quiet weekend for games. I’ll likely be finishing Steamworld Quest, and maybe dip into Starlink or dabble with Mario Odyssey. There hasn’t been a game release I was excited about since April, and it has been very quiet...

Next weekend is the beginning of the flood! Fire Emblem, Oninaki, Spyro, Links Awakening, Dragon Quest, Luigi’s Mansion. With the Witcher 3, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Darksiders: Genesis all shoved in there too. Maybe I should take this weekend to go to the beach or something!

This reminds me of 2017, right before Sonic Mania dropped. I just wasn’t interested in any of the games between that and LEGO City, but after Sonic Mania I bought like 9 other games, and it was amazing

Re: Luigi's Mansion 3 Gets A Solid October Release Date

@nintendolie yes, I read your comment correctly. But there have been times in the past where Nintendo has specifically pushed third party software to fill their own gaps. I could see Nintendo making a big deal about Witcher 3 like they did for Skyrim, and passing that as their big title for December.

Or maybe we will get another direct and they will announce something. That’s why I said Prime Trilogy. That’s something that would be small enough to announce and push out quickly for December

I liked the game until the casino level. The fifth level bored me because the momentum had already halted, and the final boss made me furious.

I think there is a core of a very good game here, and that's why I am disappointed in their new project. It seems like this was the opportunity to clean up after their mistakes in the original YL

Re: Feature: It's Time To Lay Down Your ARMS

Part of what resonates with me on Arms was that it was Nintendo doing what they do best. Taking something that is popular and putting their own spin on it.

This thought occurred to me when watching Ubisoft's e3 conference during the Roller Derby game. These characters look like Overwatch characters. Competitive "hero" multiplayer, is such a huge deal right now (and of course it was more so in 2017) and Nintendo threw their hat in the ring as a game about slinky arms boxing friends.

I am glad they tried it and that it wasn't a flop. Who knows where it goes next?
