Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 2nd)

Having finished Axiom Verge 2 and Kirby this week, my weekend is all about Guacamelee 2! I love how it carries on from the first one while the controls fit like a glove.

It continues to be wild to me that the best indie Metroidvania titles only have a 1&2, and no third title to speak of. Though I suppose with a series like Metroid as your titular inspiration (with it's 5 entries over 30 years) then it is only proper of them to put them out slowly lol

Re: Poll: What's Your Game Of The Year 2022 So Far?

Donutsavant

Eeek!!! I've played so few of these. I think Triangle Strategy and Kirby are the only 2022 games I've actually played - lots of old games to catch up on still I suppose. But I might be just about ready to have a chat about 2021 goty lol

It's Metroid Dread.

Re: Poll: What Are You Hoping To See In The Nintendo Direct Mini?

Donutsavant

I would lose my mind at an announcement for some Ys ports. There are a few excellent contenders that would fit great on the system and the series director has made comments on their possibilities!

That said, is it an intentional snub to leave Rabbids off this poll? Do y'all think it won't show?

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28

Donutsavant

There was a leaked potential Batman Arkham collection, that would please me endlessly! I also could see Mario+Rabbids and that would just be everything I've ever wanted .

I do understand complaints about most of the Nintendo titles being RPGs. But they at least all have variety in the realm of RPG

I am in a lovely season of backlog completion! This weekend I will likely play through a bit of Kirby (but with no real plans to finish it) and hopefully get through this confusing spot in Axiom Verge 2!

Axiom Verge is a lovely series, but for the life of me I cannot wrap my head around them the way I have the Ori or Guacamelee series, idk if anyone else has experienced something similar.

If I complete those two, then the only games left in my backlog would be Haven and Neo: The World Ends with You

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes - Musou Magic That Ranks Among The Best

Donutsavant

I got so into the first Hyrule warriors on the Wii U. Back then there really was a very small number of games competing for my time (and I had less disposable income) so at that point in life I was the perfect candidate for that experience.

But unlike other genres that I digest at one meal time and then become hungry for later on, my musou supper has sat in my gaming stomach for a years. It is always exciting to see Nintendo getting exclusive and we'll reviewed games!

This weekend I am chugging along on Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I love it so much that it's caused me to step back and look at how I gobble down my games, looking for what's next afterwards, and for Kirby I just want to slow down and appreciate how good and CUTE(!!) this game is.

If I get time between that I'm also playing Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. I'm only an hour in and it's the last Castlevania I've yet to play! I am also savoring it

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 4th)

This weekend (today - more on that in a bit!) My an is just Kirby 64, and also The Forgotten Land!!! I've almost finished 64 and I want to know what the fuss is all about with that ending! But Forgotten Land, is one I just started yesterday and am already in love with!

That said, my partner and I are heading for Wyoming for a week starting tomorrow. I am pumped but will be leaving my Switch at home, instead I'll just have my 3DS. I hope to knock out a whole number of smaller games in this process!

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The-E3-That-Isn't E3 - Bayonetta, GoldenEye, And... Viva Piñata?!

Donutsavant

I think that we should expect something relatively exciting, as they are about to embark on their big tour with the switch and so far it is only featuring 3 titles.
I think I might be anticipating a Mario game, though it might be 2D? I'd like to see DLC for Mario Party. I think Dragon Quest 10 could make an appearance.

I think my one weird wildcard choice would be a collection of Castlevania Lords of Shadow on Switch.

Re: Embracer Games Archive Is Striving To Preserve And Celebrate Gaming Culture

Donutsavant

@Not_Soos this comment gave me life!!! I have loved THQNordic's commitment to Switch titles, and the Darksiders series is my very favorite! Sphinx (a game I also played because of that NitroRad video lol) was a game I was not familiar with in it's time but feel that it aged phenomenally!

I hope we get more from Embracer group going forward, but no one has treated Switch owners as well as THQNordic has

I am all about Ikenfell!!! The story is great, the characters are funny and relatable, and that combat is so refreshing!

The combat is most analogous to Divinity if I had to compare it to anything. It's just an all over great experience.

And it's sort of low key to lead into what we all hope will be a more exciting fall and holiday period

Re: Feature: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles On Nintendo Systems - A Half-Shell History

Donutsavant

No one else has mentioned any nostalgia for the Ubisoft era, so I'll throw my hat in lol. I also grew up playing Turtles 2 on NES, and to agree with the article I definitely always found the first one to be a little more interesting, albeit less fun to actually play. I thought it was an open world game like a Zelda tbh but just because I never even made it to the bomb level... It was too hard

I didn't play a Turtles game again until I was DESPERATE for something for my new Wii. Ingot the Turtles game after loving the movie - was it good? Idk I can't really say. But I played it probably 2 or three times! I loved having separate levels for Raphael in his weird tech armor, and I always find wall running to be mindless fun. I'd probably play it again? I also remember picking up the GBA game a few weeks later and it ALSO rules! I looked for it on eBay a few weeks ago and it is still affordable - license games are still the only place to where games are affordable

Speaking of which this article has me deeply interested in Danger of the Ooze. I will be tracking down a copy Tonight

This weekend is about beating Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth!! It's been a long time coming but 4 chapters in and it has to be one of the most consistently engaging entries in an increasingly capturing genre!

When. It becomes too much to handle (some of those bosses are tough!) I've been dipping into Ikenfell, it is still early and I'm not sure how much I love it yet, but it seems like one that's going to to capture my heart.

Also Kirby 64

Happy Saturday Nintendo Gamerz ©️!!! This week was significant for me because I gave up on Eastward, it was just too slow for me and the parts I liked I didn't like well enough to cover for the parts I did not.

So then this weekend I am splitting my time between Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth and wrapping up Ary and the Secret of Seasons. The former is just traditional Castletroid fun, no complaints (I like the bow!) While the latter is janky, junky and an absolute delight.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 7th)

Me trying to play Eastward:

Oooh this game reviewed well and it's a Zelda-esque game with Earthbound style story telling! My my my!
1 - hour in
I am gonna come right back to this, but you know I haven't played Pikmin 3 in awhile.
8 hours later
Definitely gonna crack down and play this beautiful game now! People have only said great things about it!
Plays for 2 hours
Woah! Metroid Dread was just the best game last.year... maybe I could?
**Another 8 hours later*
But I have also heard Monster Tale on the DS is supposed to be good*
12 hours later
Ugh I guess I'm gonna make myself play Eastward

I'm sure it's great, I just am having trouble getting into it! But maybe I'll play Bowser's Fury instead... 🤔

Re: Embracer Group To Acquire Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montréal, Eidos-Montréal, Plus IPs For $300 Million

Donutsavant

Tbh(NORDIC) I think this means we will see remakes of a lot of old games. If the THQ gets their hands on some of these IPs I would expect at the very least some ports, but I wouldn't rule out full on remakes.

These are the people who remade Battle for Bikini Bottom... The people who added DLC to Kingdoms of Amalur. They ported Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy! They love older franchises
