I don't mean this as a complaint (different strokes for different folks!) But there has never been a developer with more talent with an output I am less interested in. I am still excited for what comes next
I am LOVING Resident Evil 5 right now. I am in chapter 3, and while it's certainly not as good as the all time champion 4 (and I'm a little jealous of all of the people who got to play 8) it is as good as the two Revelations games! What a series!!!
If I do need a pallete cleanser I will start Aria of Sorrow. Who knows??
I am playing Ocarina of Time Master Quest for the first time and it has energized my (probably) 15th playthrough of that classic!!! I love it so much and I died in the first dungeon.
I SHOULD be playing Skyward Sword but im just not so motivated.
@somebread I don't even remember the final boss, but you know which one I HATED? I think number 7? The one with the showdown on the cliff that starts with the motorcycle duel! That one was frustrating
Oh boy!! I'm on vacation and I have big plans for this weekend!!! I finished Bug Fables a couple days ago (AMAZING) and yesterday I sat down to play Gato Roboto start to finish (PRETTY GOOD!) Today I want to start Carto, and then I'll get cracking on Smurfs Mission Vileaf!
I really let my backlog get away from me last year but this is going to help
I don't understand the distaste for Limited Run, and feel like other companies like Super Rare give them a bad name.
Limited Run gives you a 5 week preorder and theoretically everyone COULD get a copy if they wanted to. While other limited runs are small amounts that create competition (and I also find that scummy) I feel that Limited Run is the most fair version of this process.
Limited runs are not the alternative to an "unlimited run" they are the alternative to no physical version at all
I have always appreciated shmups, but I need mine to feel "modern" in some ways. Sine Mora Ex was the perfect example, with it's story features and huge set pieces! If Sol Cresta is similar I will there day one
Thankfully there is nothing I am psyched about until Triangle Strategy. I am still a little behind on some of my purchases from last year. I just finished Bug Fables this morning and I loved it
Uhh I'm real busy this week, so mostly just fussing with 2048 on my phone. It's the best mobile game ever
I'm also starting Adventure Time: Hey Ice King Why Are You Stealing Our Garbage!? In the internet age it is more and more difficult for a game to achieve "hidden gem" status, but this is certainly that
Loved the shout out for Smurfs!!!! I want to go to that next, but this weekend is all about Bug Fables. It was a slow start, but now that I've finished chapter 2 I am beginning to love the main trio and to embrace a lot of the design I didn't love at first.
It is a long standing dream for my emo teenage sensibility that I've not ever out grown to play this game. I would love.to start with three because of the aesthetic!
It takes two looks bad. I haven't played it so I can't judge it too harshly. I expected any of the other titles to have won instead, and even hoped for it to have been Psyconauts 2. Alas
My advice for the show though: women dressed beautifully! Every man had the same stupid jeans t shirt and blazer combo and looked like trash. Do better!
I'm leaning towards Silk Song for that one reveal! I think these types of events as a Switch owner end up being great even if we get one weird third party (like last year's reveal of Ruined King)
After finishing Dread I began to work through my backlog starting with Effie. I finished that in just a few days and walked away a little meh, and perhaps uninspired. I've started Bug Fables, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and Skyward Sword HD. None of them have set my heart particularly aflame however. So we will see what I stick with this weekend
No fair Including Tri Force Heroes. It's not Canon and it screws with the results!
That said, I went with Phantom Hourglass for the same reasons I don't care for Spirit Tracks. But Spirit Tracks train theme and music make it better by this much.
@Joe-b that's a tough call!!! I loved 8 and I think so much of the thrill was how surprised I was to love this previously unknown quantity.
Now I love the series and 9 was so so fun and exciting and the world is lovely and rich. The slow down that has been complained about on this website is true however so if that is a deal breaker that's totally fair. I still loved it maybe as much as 8
I think we will get Zelda but this is not that tease.
MAYBE it's Metroid Prime 4. MAYBE it's that remake of Prime 1 we keep hearing about... Maybe it's something totally random.
I would love it to play out with Zelda as it did for Bayonetta in 2019. A big blow out of BOTW2, and also the reveal of the two originals for early next year
I finished Dread this week and I feel like I am still catching my breath! I started this game called Effie, it's a simple enough indie 3D platformer and I am enjoying my time with it... But you can feel the disparity in quality when compared to a Nintendo first party game.
I own it but haven't touched it yet. I am a little surprised this IP never took off with the Kingdom Hearts crowd? I would like to see data from publishers on how Switch versions of games do when they arrive day and date with other console versions. It seems like a no trainer that Life Is Strange would have done phenomenal on Switch if it just dang came out when the others did
@rockodoodle I get the sense that the Kirby team (which I believe is Hal) is a second party studio for Nintendo and functions in much the same way as Pokemon Company. They seem to always be working on a new game in their series when they wrap their last one, and don't need to receive a commission from Nintendo in the way a Yoshi/Star Fox game might.
I think if I out my mind to it that I could beat Dread... Alternatively I might get distracted and try out that new Smurfs game (if it ships) or this indie platformer called Effie, that so looks super good!!!
I have backlog that is pretty unbecoming of how I usually do things, so this being digital only for now means I will wait. Fingers crossed for a physical down the line!

Re: Talking Point: Who Is Nintendo Going To Buy? Don't Be Shocked If The Answer Is "Nobody"
@Serpo I love the idea, but I think that would give them the Dark Souls team and I can't imagine what that would look like
Re: Talking Point: Who Is Nintendo Going To Buy? Don't Be Shocked If The Answer Is "Nobody"
I hope Nintendo buys someone stupid - like Subway or something.
Then Ham Sandwich can finally be a Smash fighter

@Anti-Matter Crisis Core was super.good!
Re: Square Enix Reveals Final Fantasy VII's 25th Anniversary Logos
Port Crisis Core to Switch and get my money
Re: Metroid Prime Hunters Designer Would Love To See The Game Remade Today
I actually just played through this game for the first time about a year ago!
The good: at it's best the levels feel like mini Metroid prime worlds. The hunter designs own. The Mega Man style weapon upgrades are fun
The Bad: it is an FPS on a DS and I don't like the controls. The final boss is impossible
The Ugly: I'm pretty sure every planet has a self destruct/escape sequence... But then you go back to the planet a second time lol
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 29th)
@shgamer both Revelations games are terrific!!! Definitely underrated pieces of that series

These CEOs are next level scum bags

When you let GAMERS be a straighter moral compass than yourself you've really messed up
Re: Zelda-Like 'Oceanhorn 2' Adds Card Game, But It's Not On Switch
@Astral-Grain The last time I got into a card game within a video game was Shovel Knight: King of Cards
Re: Mythical Action Game Aztech Forgotten Gods Gets Its Switch Release Date
@CharlieGirl Did you try their previous game Mulaka? It's wonderful!
Re: Mythical Action Game Aztech Forgotten Gods Gets Its Switch Release Date
I will get it day one and then also buy it again if we get a physical. Lienzo is such a special studio and some really cool guys! I can't wait
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 22nd)
@ItsATM ooh!!! I'm working through Dragon Quest 7 myself! Where are you at so far?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 15th)
This weekend I am all about Smurfs: Mission Vileaf!
It's a near perfect replication of a PlayStation 2/GameCube licensed 3D platformer and I love it as much as I also groan at it.
I'm fighting the urge to purchase Dead Cells
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 8th)
@Zuljaras @Shambo oh how lovely!!!
I especially love it now that we know that team would go on to do Metroid Dread!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 8th)
@Zuljaras I loved that Castlevania!!! I think it has been unfairly maligned over the years
Re: Square Enix's Triangle Strategy Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
This is my next purchase! I'm pumped!!!
Also does anyone else remember the dying screams in Final Fantasy Tactics? Those were blood curdling!

Sea of Stars in December seems quite nice as well!
Re: Nintendo's Indie World Holiday Sale Is Live, Up To 75% Off Some Of The Best Indie Games (North America)
@hadrian I have to assume that it coming the same week as Metroid Dread really killed the hype
I haven't played it yet (waiting for my physical copy!) But it looks grand

Except Doug Bowser who is surprisingly my type

Re: Talking Point: Great Game, Poor Performance - When Does A Bad Frame Rate Not Really Matter?
I have enjoyed innumerable games on switch that were "poor ports" but so long as the drops don't affect my gameplay I'm not so disturbed buy anything

@Joe-b I wish we had so many more Ys games on switch!!! I want them all.
Origins is so good, as are 8 and 9
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 27th)
@dugan ASha in Monster World is a delight!!! I haven't picked up the remake, but the original is still so so playable

@Hungryluma Great avatar!!!!!
Also speaking of Wii sports, both De Blobs are on Switch and it's lovely!!
Re: Feature: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports
I want Disaster: Day of Crisis.
I'm sure it's not amazing, but it's a Monolith game that never made it to the states and I want it
Re: Two More League Of Legends Story Spin-Offs Head To Switch Next Year
I LOVE Tequila works. But RiME and The Sexy Brutale are some of my very favorite Switch games - bad ports be damned.
Between enlisting Airship Syndicate and Tequila Works I would say Tencent and the League teams are harnessing some of the best indie talent around
Re: Feature: 10 Overlooked GameCube Gems You Must Play
Decent list!! I feel like a lot of these are just "overlooked" because they aren't available, but big ups for not including Beyond Good & Evil.
I would add Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
