Can’t believe Sony tried to backstab Nintendo in the deal. I thought Japanese companies don’t tend to do that.

As long as they are getting re-released I will be happy. I prefer to purchase it anyway, don’t want my Pokemon and badges to disappear when Nintendo eventually ends NSO. I don’t think they will sell them for $7.99. Since the virtual console version was $9.99 it will be at least that price if not higher.

Hopefully it will be for purchase instead of being part of a subscription. Otherwise all my Pokemon and gym badges will be gone when the day comes that Nintendo ends NSO in favor of a different retro game service.

Are the mainline Pokemon games likely to be re-released in their original format either on NSO or as a purchase off of Nintendo eshop?

Interesting, I didn’t know that, especially that it was sold at a loss. This is a bit depressing since I was hoping for a chance of getting a collection with the Rare Donkey Kong games if Rare Replay can be released on a Nintendo console. I know it’s on NSO but I want to own a copy of these games for the current gen system. I guess I took their statement saying nothing is off the table to mean Rare Replay will be considered.

I hope there’s a good chance of Rare Replay getting a Switch or Switch successor release. I don’t mind them dropping some titles like Viva Pinata and in its place add the DKC trilogy, Diddy Kong Racing and DK64.

Anyone know the most likely reason Rare Replay is not on Switch? Is the fact that Rareware games being released on NSO being the most likely reason?

Jnlgame.com has it for $49.99. I preordered from them many times and they ship out quickly.

I want the virtual console back for Switch 2.

I use my Wii U to play virtual console games so it’s not going into storage until Nintendo adds a purchase option to NSO games.

I see some of you saying bye to Wii U, well not me! I downloaded so many virtual console games on it that it’s basically a retro console machine for me and I don’t have to worry about one day all the games and save files disappearing like the NSO retro games will on the Switch when the service ends eventually.

I’m not sure if cooperating is the right word. It seems like the cooperation is heavily in favor of Nintendo with Rareware games and characters being on Nintendo consoles but not the other way around. I wish this partnership would allow Microsoft to license Donkey Kong Country trilogy and DK 64 and Diddy Kong Racing for release on Xbox. I would buy them day one .

I’m surprised the GBA Banjo games are not included in Rare Replay. I think all the characters in both games are owned by Rare/ Microsoft.

Not all of them. Earthbound for example on the virtual console was much cheaper than the cartridge that was sold second hand. Although it’s great to have access to a huge library of retro games on the subscription but when the service ends at some point the games will be taken off.

Is there any hope of a purchase option being added? I really want to have permanent access to some of the retro games.

In addition to new console games added, I hope the excitement means Mother 3, Pokemon Gen 1-3, ability to purchase games and 64DD games.

I hope it’s for GameCube on virtual console, not on NSO.

I’m envious of the author’s mint copy of FF 6 SNES version. The box of the copy I got second hand is pretty worn. I miss the SNES era where Square releases include thick instruction manual with artwork and foldout maps.

No Tetris Attack and Magical Tetris Challenge?

I assume once you download a game they can’t really stop you from playing it because it’s on your console.

I want Super Scope support and Yoshi’s Safari on NSO.

Maybe the appeal will say they want to bring a gaming experience similar to Pokemon to Chinese gamers who hate Japan and who boycott Japanese products.

Sigh it’s sad retro Nintendo games will be rental only on NSO with no option to own them going forward. I wish we could purchase them on modern consoles.

Any chance for the Looney Tunes games developed by Sunsoft to be re-released?

Probably the extra work being put in for the DS second screen.

Purchased it right away, been waiting for this since Advace Collection. It’s sad that other companies including Konami allow us to buy compilations of their classic games and Nintendo still keeps all their classic games behind a subscription paywall.

Tomorrow is Mother 2’s 30th anniversary. Any chance we get some kind of game announcement during the partner Direct?

Given their past records from Pokemon Presents I would say probably more mobile announcements and maybe more DLCs for Scarlet and Violet. A new Let’s Go game is also possible. It would be a really nice surprise if they do announce the re-release of mainline retro Pokemon games.

I actually prefer not to play as Michael Myers but as one of his potential victims. The horror element of it is gone if you are controlling the killer.

Where did you hear Game Freak doesn’t want mainline Pokemon games on NSO and 3DS VC? I hope they changed their mind because I really want to play Gen 1-3 on Switch or Switch 2. I don’t understand what Game Freak stands to gain by not at least selling Gen 1-3 on modern consoles.

I wonder why they released this as New Pokemon Snap since the original N64 game was never released in China. It would be more appropriate to title it “Pokemon Snap”. Also, I feel sad that the original Gen 1 games (Along with Gen 2-6) were never officially released in China. Chinese gamers are experiencing the original games via the Let’s Go versions which in my opinion is nowhere as good as the original Red and Blue versions. At least give them either the digital Gen 1 or Gen 3 remakes. Let’s Go is a terrible way to introduce gamers to the original Pokemon games.

Will Gen 1-3 games ever come out on the Switch?

I hope Sunsoft at some point will release Batman and the Looney Tunes games. But due to licensing I guess it’s a long shot.

Instead of purchasing the Lost Levels icons, I rather purchase this game on the Switch.

Not necessarily. Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon NES was released for on NSO in Japan then later announced as a title for purchase in the West for a limited time.

Nintendo needs to release much more games in China. Take a look at Nintendo’s China website and it looks like Nintendo’s Switch release up to around 2018.
