I do miss the earlier decades where games don’t just have unique regional artwork but manuals and maps (And guide books sold separately) as well. The only major great thing about modern game releases is the simultaneous launch for most major titles. I remember having to wait months for Paper Mario, Pokémon Gold and Silver and Zelda Majora’s Mask to come out after the original Japanese release.

It would definitely be helpful to turn off permadeath. I played the GBA and DS Fire Emblem games on Wii U virtual console and had to resort to save states to beat the game. I had trouble anticipating enemy movements and was losing a lot of characters when the enemies gang up on them during their turn.

Re: Feature: 10 3DS Retail Games That Might Be Cheaper To Buy Digitally While You Can

I know this is not 3DS game but I’m surprised Paper Mario Color Splash new is still cheap. I bought extra copies back in the day because I figured it was released right before Wii U was discontinued so it should become rare. Was hoping to trade it for a different rare game after it becomes out of print but oddly 5 and half years later a brand new copy is still $40.

Thank you for the confirmation. I was curious because I think the very first guide books “How to win at Super Mario Bros.” and “Legend of Zelda Tips and Tactics” were translated guides from Japanese publications. The earlier player’s guides says published by Nintendo of America in conjunction with Tokuma Shoten. I wasn’t certain because in North America there was usually only one official guide published with maybe few others from Bradygames and Prima. Japan published multiple guide books for each game and I think they still publish guide books in 2022.
