If Nintendo really wants us to keep buying the same games repeatedly, they could have released this game with Ocarina of Time on the Switch like Mario 3D All Stars.
Unfortunately the constant delays ruined the 64DD. By the time it launched, almost all of the planned software to be released on it were either moved to cartridge or cancelled.
This is quite shocking. I would expect someone like Bowser to live in a huge castle. But in all seriousness it really stinks to be asked to pay that much. I would say a more reasonable amount like $200,00-$300,000.
@YoshiAngemon I guess they can make it compatible with the virtual console versions of Gen 1 and 2 on 3DS if at all possible. I think the Game Boy games will arrive some time later on NSO.
@NinjaWaddleDee
I see. I definitely wouldn’t mind Pokémon Stadium getting a third game. I’m also hoping we get Pokémon Stadium on NSO expansion pak in the future.
@StuartGipp
Yes that was the boss. If I level up a lot more will it make the later bosses easier? Having the right cards in this game seems to matter much more than grinding.
@Banjo- Did you beat Kingdom Hearts Re Chain too? I put in a lot of hours but still stuck in Twilight Town/ 12th floor I think. I couldn’t beat the boss. One time I almost did but ran low on cards and lost.
@victordamazio I’m really happy it’s a remaster because I never played it before. Same with FF7 I never played it before they released the remastered version. I played both FF7 remastered and remake and the remake version is definitely not the version to introduce new players to FF7.
@Jeronan
Nintendo being stuck in the past is most likely a deliberate move. I will not download any games on a Nintendo console that’s also on the Playstation and Xbox stores. It’s inconvenient to not have it portable but better than not being able to carry the purchase to the next console. The Chrono Cross remaster announced in the Direct last week I will get it on Xbox.
@Banjo-
Going forward any digital games being released on multiple consoles I will buy them either on Playstation or Xbox because at least there’s a good chance they will be carried over to the next console. With Nintendo even if they do carry over to the next console they charge an upgrade fee like they did with virtual console. It’s unfortunate to not have the portability option by not getting it on the Switch but at least there’s less to worry about retaining a copy in the event the console dies and the download shop is closed.
A few years ago some fan voiced his concern to Reggie about spending a ton of money on virtual console games and the ability to retain the games post Wii U. Reggie said they are aware of this concern, stay tuned…
@Yosher That’s exactly wondering as well. I would have paid an upgrade fee to redownload a lot of my virtual console purchases plus new VC games. Oh well Nintendo, your loss.
@Tasuki I read somewhere that if you call Nintendo and explain the situation they may be able to move your purchase ID to a replacement console and allow you to redownload the games at no additional cost.
@ReaperMelia If Square rather have their games on eShop I’m fine with that. But they still haven’t put Final Fantasy 1-6, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest 4-8 on the eShop yet let alone Super Mario RPG.
I was really looking forward to Super Mario RPG 2 when it was announced for Nintendo 64. Later that game became Paper Mario. It was a great game but I would like a true sequel.
Nintendo is leaving a lot of money on the table for not making this a purchase option. A lot of people would download these two games. I would have. But I guess Nintendo is saving us money by giving us access to a bunch of games we would have paid for only $20 a year so I can’t complain.
@Mikmoomamimocki Normally new classic games just get released on NES, Super NES and N64 apps in a regular announcement but the Earthbound games they did it specifically in a Direct. I wonder why they did that? Maybe they are building up fan interest to ensure the success of a localized Mother 3?
@Banjo- I agree 100%. I play the Wii U regularly just for all the GBA and DS games and N64 games that are not on NSO. The Switch would have been perfect for virtual console. I think the NSO is a poor substitute/successor for the VC.
@HammerGalladeBro I hope Earthbound will be re-released on each new Nintendo console going forward. I have faith the West will eventually see Mother 3 localized.
@harlowlad I can’t see them announce FF Pixel for Switch until after FF6 is out for IOS and Steam. I suspect they want people to buy these on Steam/ Mobile first then again on consoles. That has to be it because they claim they will consider putting them on consoles if the demand is there (Meaning if enough people buy the Steam/ Mobile releases).
If there’s going to be a new 3D Donkey Kong game, I hope they also remaster DK 64. That game really needs a remaster with improved camera and controls. I tried the virtual console version and couldn’t get far due to the terrible controls and camera. The game needs an improved version similar to what Microsoft did for the N64 Banjo Kazooie games.
@the_beaver I just want a re-release of GBA version of Ruby and Sapphire on eShop. I never played the original versions back in the early 2000s and was hoping they re-release this after they put Gen 1 and 2 on virtual console.
@Mikmoomamimocki Agreed. I played so many retro games on the Wii U virtual console, many for the first time. The Wii U era was a great period for fans of retro Nintendo games.
I been using the Wii U to play virtual console games. It’s one of my favorite consoles due to being able to play a huge amount of classic Nintendo games on it especially the only console to be able to play official copy of Earthbound Beginnings and Vs Excitebike.
I wonder if there will be a compilation of classic Kirby games for the 30th anniversary. If so it might consist of games that came out after Kirby 64 since we got a Wii compilation of Kirby games released between 1992 to 2000 in 2012. In addition to Kirby I hope Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire will get a re-release on Switch eShop for the game’s 20th anniversary release.
@nessisonett
Plenty of ways to get the money, get a good job, stay single, don’t have kids, work a side job, maintain a reasonable budget. If most people can afford an iPhone and multiple streaming subscriptions, then they can afford to buy more than one Switch. A Switch is about 1/3 of the cost of an iPhone. It’s not that expensive.
Has anyone experienced this possible glitch in Banjo Kazooie? This is the Xbox Rare Replay version but in Click Clock Wood I am 99.99% certain I got all 10 jiggies but the game shows 9/10. I went through the walkthrough and went to each jiggy location twice and couldn’t find that I missed any including the one you get at the very top as a bee. Anyone else experienced this issue?
So is it safe to assume rental via subscription is the future for retro Nintendo games? I would have paid the upgrade fee again to download them on the Switch. Virtual console had weekly releases and NSO has monthly release. I wish they didn’t have to fix something that wasn’t broken (Virtual console). Don’t want to spend hours on games only to have the save data all disappear when Nintendo one day discontinues the expansion pak.
@AugustusOxy My main gripe against the Switch Online/ Expansion Pak is the slow pace of new releases and one day all my save files will probably be gone once this service is discontinued.

The last real good Zelda game in my opinion until Breath of the Wild.
