Re: Review: Fate/Samurai Remnant - Musou Evolved, With Patchy Switch Performance

@-wc- depending on your stance, the gameplay can feel weightless in this game. Also, I am hesitant to even call it a musou game. When combat does happen, you are largely trapped in a square arena and have to fight one damage sponge version of the normal bad guys and then 6 - 12 regular henchmen that die easily.

Having put roughly 24 hours into this title, in my opinion, a 7/10 is an appropriate score.

@Mirage-5x5 Welcome! And, yeah, the PS5 is definitely the way to go. The Switch version doesn’t even have a fully functioning invasions mode. You get so far in Johnny Cage’s mansion and it randomly goes “To be continued” when you try to select the next node.

FYI, I read online that you need about 115 GB to instal Mortal Kombat 1 for the PS5.

@DennisReynolds I got my copy last night, playing it this morning (30 GB download with physical). Graphically, it is better than MK11, but it is jarring going from cutscene graphics to fighting graphics in story mode. Also, moments before fatalities and when the battles first start, the characters will become fuzzy for a split second. In more graphically demanding arenas with characters like Kenshi and Rain, their outfits will look a bit more plastic and character models will lose details but the gameplay will remain solid. Fatalities take a second to load, so characters will stand there doing nothing for a couple of seconds, after successfully inputting a fatality. The game loads just fine for the most part. The screen sometimes tears in story mode during cutscenes when they first start. Most annoying is the character select screen. The cursor will be stuck on each character portrait for two to three seconds as the game tries to quickly load an image of the fighter. Also, despite WB Support saying Invasions wouldn’t be available for the Switch at launch, I can say that at least a few levels are available in Johnny Cage’s mansion. I’ve been mainly trying out the different modes, so I am unsure if the full Johnny Cage invasion level is present.

Worst performance so far: the action sequence that happens whenever you beat a tower and pulverize the final boss. The graphics and performance nosedive during that short beatdown scene. It looks awful and characters move as if they are in slow motion. Sound is also out of sync with the animations.
