Nintendo of America's product lead Katie Casper has officially resigned from her position. She's best remembered in more recent years as the Nindies Showcase co-host and has been with the company for "nearly six years" now. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was with Nintendo for 5 years and 9 months.
In a message over on Twitter, Casper revealed she had resigned from the role "recently" and was grateful for the friendship and support over the years. She's now ready to undertake a "new adventure" in life but didn't reveal where she was off to next.
She finished by sharing some career highlights at Nintendo, including meeting Suda 51, working with Kirk Scott to spotlight indie hits, demonstrating Hollow Knight on behalf of Team Cherry Games and working with Blizzard to rollout the Diablo III: Eternal Collection on the Switch. You can view all of these memories over on her Twitter account.
From the entire community here at Nintendo Life, we wish Katie all the best in her future endeavors.

Katie who? I don't know if I'm supposed to be embarrassed about this, but I'm sorry to say that I've honestly never heard of her, or seen her before.
Well, either way, good luck to her on the new road she's taken.
@ThanosReXXX She was involved in Indie World in August 2019. In December, Samantha from Treehouse replaced her spot of announcing titles alongside Kirk Scott. It’s fair to not know many hire-up people in Nintendo, as they don’t make as many public appearances given the scarcity of Nintendo Directs and the way they have been presented in the past 3 years.
Yeah, I've never heard of this lady. Wish her well in the future though.
@ThanosReXXX No, I don't know who she is either. lol
Seems like a nice person though.
The Nindie lady?
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, she definitely does look like a really friendly gamer, so her self-chosen tag is probably quite appropriate.
Unless of course she's a completely different person off camera...
Good luck on your road ahead, didnt know her until now,
She looks cute tho.😃
Never heard of her. Is this really 'news' or are you guys just struggling without the Direct like the rest of us?
Sorry to hear about this random person. Another great and relevant article, Liam.
She wanted to make a switch.
@ThanosReXXX I was wondering the same man lol
@Dezzy I think the lack of a Direct has caused a majority of staff and users to devolve to lesser forms. It’s gettin a lil scary out here. Watch those corners, folks!
Who? Is every person, who leaves Nintendo after 6 years, going to get an article as well?
Hmmm, that means there’s a position vacant!
Ok so this confirms she won't be in the March direct. MARCH DIRECT CONFIRMED?!
It's always big news when someone who has worked for a company for "nearly six years" leaves abruptly.
It won't be easy, but hopefully Nintendo can recover from this shocking turn of events!!
Who? This person has done nothing for Nintendo. Very expendable.
When this and the Brie Larson story are on the main page, you know it was a slow news day. We need a Nintendo Direct ASAP.
@Kyloctopus all of those people you mentioned are no where near higher up people.
Wait... She legit worked at Nintendo, and had a title?
Honestly thought she was a paid-for actress stand-in for Directs. She felt so... Forced to be there.
Slow day at Nlife again. I watched that showcase and completely forgot about her. Stellar journalism, guys...
Sounds like she got poached lol. Good luck in her future endeavours.
@Dirty0814
Kirk Scott - Developer Relations Manager. Basically a lead role when talking to indie/third party developers in regards to timed exclusives and releasing games on the Switch platform. You would have to go through some serious mental gymnastics to say Kirk doesn't play a critical role in Nintendo.
I can't say I knew who she was either, not do I recognize her co-host. The only official Nintendo videos like this I had seen lately are the ones with Krysta Yang and... some guy. Bryan maybe?
It may have taken me a little too long to get the Casper the Friendly Ghost reference in her nickname.
@ThanosReXXX You'd only know her from watching some Nintendo Indie events and Nintendo Treehouse presentations.
She took precautions and resigned prior to the launch of ACNH xD
Her "new challenges" consists of making cups of cocoa and relaxing with ACNH 20 hours daily!
Jokes aside, honestly never heard of her or felt her presence anywhere. And I watch everything. She won't be missed, but I do wish her good luck in her next job.
She played trial of mana at tree houses show
@HobbitGamer this is the beginning of the bailout. They’re jumping ship and scattering like flies. This is that Nintendoom that everyone predicted coming to fruition. It’s over gang.
I'm guessing not many people in here watch the Nindie directs or else she wouldn't be this unknown. I think she was a very pleasant person to watch and wish her best of luck for the future
@MajinSoul Yeah I'm surprised at how many people have no idea who she is, she's been in several Directs now. I didn't realise she'd had such a long career there though, that's really cool! Best of luck to her in whatever she's doing next.
No clue who she is, she looks nice though. Might give her a ring!
Yesterday, it was announced to his manager that Paul would be leaving his post as cook/drive-thru at Arby's #362 in Midtown. His mission to serve "sorta beef" to the world has changed and we wish him well as he pursues taking a semester off to "find himself".
@ThanosReXXX there’s a lot of us who don’t know who this girl is hahaha
The various PR/CR positions have ridiculously high turnover rates at gaming companies, because, frankly, they pay no money and rely on "wow I work at a gaming company!" until the charm of being an intern forever wears off.
I'm pretty sure her "new mission" in life involves "paying the rent on time for the first time ever by working pretty much anywhere else!"
@Paraka Right?? Nothing against her, but she was not a particularly great screen presence. So awkward!
@ReavoEnd - Yeah, she wasn't the greatest in front of the camera. Her narrating ones sounded more natural, but clearly it wasn't at all her forte.
She may been well at her job as a product lead, whatever that actually was. But her in front of a camera felt like they hired a trainee straight out of acting class.
Who? I remember nameless, narrative voices from the Nindie videos, but not people. Maybe I recall seeing one scene of real people talking, but could be my memory playing tricks on me. Her narration wasn't even particularly interesting.
Now, she said she has mixed feelings about resigning. She didn't say where she's going or why she left, which tells me she was asked to resign, so she either did something bad or she was bad at her job (thinking the latter). Either way, good job turning a non-news article into something of discussion, lol.
Blizzard's Kevin Johnson is a great narrator, even if he does sound like a completely normal guy when he initially speaks. Just mentioning him because everyone was worried he wouldn't be doing the hero spotlight videos for HotS anymore when he stepped down (he still is), so that job definitely isn't for everyone and it shows.
@Kilroy If I remember correctly she was in a single Nindies Direct video in person and one as a (her words) "disembodied voice". She was also in some of the Nintendo Treehouse presentations including the E3 introduction of Diablo III for the Switch. I'm trying to think of who she replaced, but either way her time in front of the camera was short lived.
Slow news day... the person we have never heard of is leaving Nintendo, as you were guys, all waiting for some real news.
I guess Katie Casper is now just a ghost of her former self.
If I was lucky enough to work for Nintendo, I don't think I'd ever leave. It's too amazing of a workplace. Even if all I was doing was working at the Nintendo Store, I don't think I'd ever want to leave. I guess I also don't understand the whole changing careers thing. Jobs are so hard to come by these days. Sure my current position isn't the most fulfilling but it pays the rent, allows me to buy Nintendo games, and it offers some financial stability. I wouldn't just walk away from it unless I absolutely had to. Hopefully she finds something else and in the meantime, Nintendo....I'm available & I'm exceptionally loyal!
