Pokémon Sword and Shield players can snag a rare, shiny Pokémon this weekend thanks to a new code distributed by Pokémon Korea.
The Pokémon in question is the Grass- and Poison-type Amoonguss, which would usually have red and white colouring, rather than the blue you see above. To get your hands on it, you simply have to press the 'X' button in Pokémon Sword and Shield to access your menu, select 'Mystery Gift', and then choose to receive a gift via code.
Now enter the following code: TRA1NERSCUP
The Pokémon you'll receive is actually based upon the Amoonguss used by Baik Jongyoon, World Champion Senior Top 4 player at the 2019 World Championships. It's at Level 50, knows Clear Smog, Spore, Protect and Rage Powder, and has very strong overall IVs (thanks, Serebii).
Despite being a Korean giveaway, the code can be used worldwide. It's only valid until 14:59 UTC on 10th August, however, so make sure to get on this while you still can.

Honestly, these shiny giveaways seem so dumb to me. Back in Pokémon White, I happened to come across a shiny Deino which I was really happy with and trained up into a Hydreigon! Then some time later, they released an event shiny Hydreigon and it just made the one I caught feel less special.

If every single player gets it then there's no point, what's the point of getting something supposedly rare if everyone gets it? I swear the pokemon fanbase is actual toddlers if they excited and hyped for this. It's literally gamefreak dangling a keychain in front of a babies face and they get excited, sad honestly

@Doofenshmirtz @Yosher not everyone cares about wasting a bunch of time mindlessly grinding for a palette swap and still appreciate having the ability to use a palette swap. I love when they give out free shinies - I have a lot of productive things I can do rather than shiny hunt, but love to collect the ones that are given out. To me it’s no different than a mythical Pokemon - those take no real effort either, they’re just a cool thing to have. In this case, it’s competitively viable too, unlike some mythicals.

@ShadJV Thing is I didn't grind for my shiny. I encountered it while I was training up for the Elite 4. It felt special until they released that event shiny.

@Yosher fair. I’ve only found two shinies ever naturally, a Spinda (ugh) and a Ludicolo. I don’t think I’d be too upset if they released event shinies of those though, for me the ones I caught would still be special (as much as I HATE Spinda, I’ve transferred it through every generation because it was my first shiny). Besides, it’s also be outweighed for me by having access to other shinies. A self caught shiny always has more value to me anyways, as it’s sentimental. Everyone having it doesn’t make it less valuable to me.
Awesome! This guy is Trick Room-ready with 0 IV in both Attack and Speed and 31 IV in the other four stats. It's also EV trained in HP, Def, and Sp. Def. I don't know exactly what EVs it has, but for some reason it's not trained all the way. I wonder if it's just missing the last 2 IVs (only 508 of the 510 EVs you get actually mean anything, as it takes 4 EVs to boost a stat). Will test tonight by training it in HP.
